Well I did watch him. I also watched Ike as he had really cool taste in games and great opinions about them. I also watch Vanta and Sonny when they stream something fun, but I do acknowledge that I'm in a minority.
I'm not even sure why this is the way it is. I feel like it's the general mindset of western vtubing community. Like for example, tons of people watch Kuzuha because he's just a fun guy who's also an anime character, like they don't treat him as purely otaku thing. Meanwhile in the west, vtubers is just considered weeb thing, and nobody take them seriously as entertainers and streamers. Male vtuber fans are predominantly either ironic weebs, schizos or groomers, those will never watch some anime guy as they don't want to fuck him. I know this is the old tune and I will be really generalizing, but the fact is that male vtuber community got established by HoloMyth (GFE), and western female community got established by Luxiem (BFE). On the contrary, JP vtubing community got established by Niji gen 1, who were jacks of all trades. Different meta, different traditions. The only guy who actually could pull decent male viewership was Vesper and he was way too fucking menhera to stream consistently in a corpo. Maybe times will change and will get that promised brotuber Jesus who will have decent male viewership, but in the current climate, I don't see it's being possible.
And besides that, it's not doom and gloom. We do have Ryoma who's just a middle aged straight white dude who likes to play e-sports (I even saw guys saying that he is the first male liver they had bought a pappe of lol). Go support him, it will give people encouragement to do more content like this as vtubers.
