How do we feel about Aira x Okarum? Anonymous Id: 7c3069 No. 73929 [Reply]
Im an Airafag myself, but come to think of it, i forgot why Aira fell for Okarum in the first place; so i went to rewatch that part: https://youtu.be/vFHxkFwtooo?si=wHs9wELb61qPeLgZ She thinks Okarum is a demon but she likes his human heart. The later would be sweet if not for the fact i think the scene makes too much emphasis in the deamon part. She even reflects on him being a deamon as she leaves instead of his golden heart. To me that moddies things, as if what she likes of him is the "taboo" of mingling with an different species; kinda like the class rep that thinks hes a vampire. Airafag for life tho

>>74068 I really question how, it really feels their entire relationship is built on suspended bridge effect copium. They only ever talk heart to heart whenever they almost fucking died and even then the relationship still has progressed jack squat (they are not technically even a couple yet) despite being into basically season 9 content in the manga by now.
>>74006 >>74024 IMO the problem with shounenshit isn't so much centered around no romance, that's more like a symptom than the illness. The core problem IMO is basically it's a format forced to end on an epic cliffhanger literally every single week, and when chapters last a single fucking scene tops, it really starts to strain the narrative. There's not much any author can do when they are forced to go from epic fight scene to "aura farming" scene back to epic fight scene. It's even worse in the zoomnig era thanks to tiktok rotting everyone's attention span, back in the day jojo part 1-2 or YYH were pretty to the point and didn't have much depth to them yes, but after they hit their stride we could see that was mangaka's inexperience and the format did allow for some depth. But now? Good luck getting any nuggets of depth between fight scenes, and romance is the one thing that always gets sidelined first for more fight scenes.
>>74075 Yeah that too, the anime already showed the musicians fight scene where he has far better chemistry with aira than with momo. And to think of it, this means momo is pretty fucking useless for the plot fights unless said plot bends over backwards to make her powers extremely important to win.

The burnout and fatigue of all the deconstructions and twists and subversion shit is real. Anonymous Id: c2a050 No. 73986 [Reply]
I mean, it was cool every once in a while as an edgy teenager in the early 10s but when it seems like every other popular story is just trying to shock you or make you question everything this generation. I'm personally not to the point of pic rel (yet, most likely) but the backlogs of all mediums for me are so long that the instant something tries to be a smartass about how this is not a [anime/manga/game/novel] this is REEL LIEF and how life is shit and unfair I just drop it. I just don't see the point when it seems to be the same few stories every time either. >What if good was le bad so we can get pseuds to praise it for being "a breath of fresh air". >What if MC went through torture porn so we can get the normalfags with shit lives to praise it. >What if MC was a mary sue girl so we can get the foids to praise it. >What if we repackage some shounenshit and remove everything "icky" so all the actual normalfags praise it. >What if we bait and switch an MC, kill them, then swap to someone else, usually by overlapping with one of the above. I know I'm probably not alone in feeling this way so I'm curious to hear other people's thoughts, have any of you hit the same fatigue point?

>>74007 >That's been a meme for centuries in storytelling. You're going to have to be more specific than that. I don't think you get to just handwave away the damage madoka did to the magical girl genre just like that. >Have you read Cutey Honey, where the entire climax of the series is everyone dying (In an attempt to parody Devilman, which was by the same author)? No, and it sounds like the exact same type of tryhard goykuso I'm complaining about, so I have no plans to. >Another classic series where everyone dies in the end is Outlander. And Ideon. You don't have to keep padding my "avoid" list like that anon. >Probably because, outside of torture porn and for laughs in vidya/VN dialogue choices, people don't actually like reading about outright evil characters? Even Drakenguard "justifies" itself on the basis that the world is ending. It's less the evil character thing (light yagami and ainz have huge fanbases mind you) and more the holier than thou tone of LE SUBVERSIVE authors. >Do you remember this obscure piece of Western literature called Les Miserable, where a guy was unjustly sentenced to years of salvery because he stole a piece of bread? A better example would have been monte cristo. >You're complaining about the genre of reverse-harem series for girls? I have read a couple of those, and I agree that they are shit, but that does not make up the "majority" in any way whatsoever. Are you intentionally trying to derail the pointer from the anime that comes from novels based on a nonexistent otome game to outright actually existing otome games? >Okay, what did they actually "remove"? Fanservice mostly, so normalniggers can show it to their Shōwa ojisan parents for approval and not feel "cringe" while doing so. >Would the 1970's manga Lady Snowblood also fall into that category? I legitimately have no clue why the fuck do you keep bringing up ancient literal who shit.

>>74026 >No, and it sounds like the exact same type of tryhard goykuso I'm complaining about, so I have no plans to. Is it really an example of subversion, or just following the simple fact that people like heroes? >A better example would have been monte cristo. You do realize that you're proving the point that you hate stories tropes that have existed as a part of storytelling, and treating it like it's a "recent" trend. >Are you intentionally trying to derail the pointer from the anime that comes from novels based on a nonexistent otome game to outright actually existing otome games? Could you rephrase the question? >Fanservice mostly First, not every single anime "has" to have fan service. Second, how can you "remove" something that the original series didn't have? The only recent series that I know of that went out of it's way to outright censor fanservice that the original had is the Bocchi The Rock anime and the Urusei Yatsura remake. >bringing up ancient literal who shit. It's the manga and film that inspired Kill Bill. You REALLY must be a newfag or a casual to not know about this shit and be angry when people bring them up.

Basically, this is a thread to discuss this rise of and currently ongoing online manga and anime series that have been popping up over the past several years. To post about some of the ones I have seen, there are: >Milky☆Galactic (Anime) https://milkygalacticuniverse.com/ >Noss & Zakuro (Manga) https://twiiit.com/rariatoo >Tireddog Animation (Anime) https://redirect.invidious.io/channel/UCl2lw5qRbqOGpldCAK3jZEw Let's try to keep this thread "Indie" for all intent and purposes. While some series like Future Card Buddy Fight, Ninjala, Rebirth, and Zoids Wild Senki were designed for online release, it feels like they "shouldn't count" due to them being made by professional studios.

I'm looking for some anime compilations not dissimilar from the ones I'm posting here. Post what you got. >Aren't these bait images? Probably, but it's good to have each perspective. Basically old vs new, new vs old, etc etc In particular I'd like one image which says something like this: <Left half of the image is anime before 2006, then the right half of the image is anime after 2006, with the old ones having an emphasis on looking "silly" or "cute" whereas the new ones have an emphasis on looking "cool" and "gritty" Anyone seen this one before? I used to have it on my HDD but I suppose I lost it or accidentally got rid of it.

What is wrong with westoids and why do they keep pushing anti-intellectualism and their refusal to read? Have any of you ever noticed how westoids tend to write off Japanese lit as nothing but trashy fan fiction? It's almost like they think just reading a summary or watching a YouTube video is good enough to understand the whole story, without even bothering to crack open an actual book. I mean, can you imagine someone doing the same thing with Western classics? Yeah, they do that too. It's getting worse over time too. Around the early 2000s people were desperate to scramble to learn japanese because the fan translations for stuff like shana or DaL were too slow. Around the 2010s while the normalfag flood had begun, you still got people willing to learn japanese to read the raws. Now after covid you're hard pressed anyone that reads the source material, hell you are hard pressed to find people that actually watch anime at x1 playback speed and not through tiktok videos and manga leak threads. What the fuck went so wrong with the anime community normalfags?

>>73949 Hearing things like this terrifies me because I can't even know how much I'm missing. I still haven't started learning JP and doubt I ever will beyond extremely basic stuff
>>73968 if you like how dialogue sounds in anime, the wordplay, ways of thinking (this is translatable with a long TL note) in japanese and so on, maybe it's worth it to learn. but you don't have to ever open a book to understand 90% of slice of life anime. listen, tune your brain into the grammar as it flows, like learning math or physics, and deliberately look up every word you don't know on jisho.org. you will have vast anime vocabulary with low effort in what, less than 10 cours.
>>73968 Good news, learning is surprisingly easier than people give it credit for, the average westerner is just rather dumb and can't do so. Bad news, you are missing out on so much that simply trying to describe it in any detail will just make you think it's just hyperbole, you basically have to learn JP yourself to really get how bad it was, point which it would be absurdly obvious. You start realizing how bad it is just by N4 however, sometimes earlier.

Do you watch seasonal anime as it comes out? Do you wait until the season is over to binge? Do you not follow seasonalshit at all? And perhaps most importantly regardless of your previous answer, do you then go read the source material if you liked it?

>>60451 Rising of the Shield Hero desperately needs a video game like it, but the problem is that its mechanics are too advanced/complex for modern game development, its something I hope to see in the future. For one thing, everything in that world looked very cool, the sheer level of interactivity with the character's weapons was amazing. (e.g. the fact that the MC could put almost anything into his shield and end up transforming it from a storage unit, to pure utility, to damage, to defense, to buffs, etc.), on top of just more broken mechanics, and the fact that the gameplay and character mechanics can change based on your knowledge, perceptions, personality, emotions and reactions to the world around you, as well as the role you take in the world. Plus its got a good story and premise and whatnot baked in with the whole "spawn into a (part of the) world that reviles you and forces you to approach the world differently to everyone else". And the anime adaptation makes the "UI" for the world look really satisfying and engaging to handle, plus I like the general design aesthetics of it too. This is a topic I've been wanting to make on /v/ for a while but I've always ended up forgetting before I ended up making an OP for it, but this is one of those rare works where I'm downright hungering for a game that could fulfill the work's ambitions. Unfortunately if anyone ever does make a game for it, it'll probably end up being low-effort garbage like the "VNs" that companies churn out for a lot of the popular isekai, even though a franchise like this deserves a high-budget, effort-filled game to do it justice. I think it would be genuinely fantastic if a proper company with the will, talent, vision and money would ever take on a project like this. People love to say shit like "SAO" but honestly Shield Hero looks more to me like a "game from the future" than anything I've seen in an anime so far. It would be like a sandbox RPG in terms of character freedom to interact with the world and characters, but with a genuine plot and tension built in thanks to the waves, along with worldbuilding and characters that actually matter so you aren't just jerking around the whole time without consequences like some faggot. Keep in mind I haven't watched or read past season 1 of Shield Hero so far, I'm planning to get around to it but from what I've seen of it, I think it would make for a great game. The only game closest to this in terms of breadth of interactivity in an RPG setting I can think of is Runescape, but it still wouldn't come close to a lot of the other things about this hypothetical game.
