I've been reading Bleak House which was 50 years before Anne of Green Gables, it's interesting to experience both stories at once since they're both british-ish and relatively close in time. It's so awesome seeing Anne passionately chasing her dreams! Can't believe the high school arc ended so quickly though... I'm hoping what's hinted at the ending is their bank goes under as opposed to Matthew dying... 😥 I wish they could have gone to university together!!!!!! They're so cute! And it looks like anne is finally okay with talking with him, at least... :^D

First of all, it seems that the new anime adapted in 10 episodes what the old anime spent 50 episodes on, so it's simply the truth that as you say a lot of things are rushed. However I wouldn't necessarily say the older anime's equivalent scene was superior in every aspect. The first half in particular was laying it on a bit thick with showing empty places around the house and just a frustratingly slow zoom into Anne. I think the shot where Anne sees Matthew looks better in the newer version. And I do hear genuine emotion in Anne's crying in the newer version as well, although the old version does it amazingly as well. So I wouldn't say they rushed it through that much, and I wouldn't say there was no emotion in the new anime's scene.
