Gundam General Anonymous 01/20/2021 (Wed) 04:05:22 No. 301
How does the Turn A Gundam Correct Century work? Spoilers for the show but it's plot centers around the mystery of the Dark History. An era before the current time which in the show's setting is a Victorian era level of tech society with planes & blimps. This Dark History is hinted at & outright said to be essentially the history of at least 4 previous Gundam timelines. From my understanding, each timeline is supposed to be a different universe. So how does this work? Because I can't find a straight answer no matter where I look. Is it: >A: Each Gundam timeline referenced here were actually part of the same universe all along. >B: Each timeline was separate but something converged them into one.
>>301 >1rst image Damn I had no idea there were so many gundam shows/timelines. I gotta finish the UC stuff now as I have only seen MSG, 8th MS Team, and part of Gundam Wing.
>>301 A better way to understand Turn A Gundam: it was a shitty show produced exclusively to try to "take down Evangelion", said so by the producers themselves, and whose only focus was to make everything presented as shock value and "big reveals", regardless of continuity or quality, because sunrise is composed entirely of egocentric old men who don't understand the appeal of shows that aren't made by their own company.
>>303 >nothing matters and everything will vanish That is simply being realistic and understanding life for what it is.
>>3441 God loves you, you know.
>>3443 Life has no meaning and nothing matters. And dying sucks too. Welcome to reality as it is.
(160.29 KB 736x916 Jesus_hand.jpg)

>>3444 No. God has a meaning for every single one of us. Even at your worst, our lord and saviour Jesus Kristus Still loves you anon.
>>3385 The Titans were basically given free reign by the Earth Federation & then essentially replaced other higher ups to allow them more power without restriction. The events of the OYW & Stardust Memory 0083 especially gave rise to the Titans out of fear of Zeon remnants.
>>3385 The Titans are considered above normal Federation, even their lowest ranks are considered higher up than the highest regular Feddie ranks.
What faction in Gundam comes the closest to being the good guys? Most normalfags I talked to about it seem to lean towards the Earth Federation. >>354 >your party gets way too big and most of the characters don't feel that distinct due to large ability overlap That always annoys me in games.
>>3509 Well that depends on your views & morals. The Earth Federation no matter the point in the timeline aren't exactly good. They're defending Earth sure but they're also extremely corrupt & the government sent everyone to space in the first place. While Zeon was created through assassination & martyring the man behind the philosophy, they are ultimately just fighting for independence. Now in other universes there's a lot more clear cut divides between good & evil depending on what you're watching. It's the mainline that's more shades of grey.

>Here's your Gundam, bro. Finally got started on the OG Gundam series after putting it off for so long. It's going to be my first Gundam series, despite having been spoiled on a lot of stuff and already building two different Gunpla. Pretty good so far, only 7 episodes in though. Would have watched more, but the air conditioner in the house crapped out, so I have a mobile one in my room that drowns out a lot of sound so it makes watching videos difficult. I'm mostly a manga reader so I want to ask: What are some good Gundam manga I can read after the early UC saga?
>>3529 Gundam Origin acts as an alternate prequel to the original show. Not canon but doesn't necessarily not fit. Now Gundam Thunderbolt is a full on alternate universe of the original show. Not like yours where it's blatant characters being remade like Square Enix designed them. Brand new characters but similar story beats. Both have official english releases so you can get the volumes physically.
>>3512 All good points. >It's the mainline that's more shades of grey I actually really appreciate that. Too many shows like this like to have really clearcut villains and it kind of ruins it for me sometimes. >>3533 (checked) >Gundam Thunderbolt is a full on alternate universe of the original show Is it good?
>>3552 You'll like Thunderbolt if you like more adult characters rather than teenagers. It's pretty harrowing as far as the depictions of war in this franchise.
I started watching the original Mobile Suit Gundam, it seems good enough so far. On episode 8 right now.
>>3594 >adult characters rather than teenagers Well that already earns it quite a few points with me. I've been watching enough anime with teenager protags. Some of the mobile suit designs I saw when I was playing Gundam Battle Operation 2 looked pretty cool too so I'll have to check it out. >>3595 Glad you are enjoying it. It had a great soundtrack for it too. Lots of catchy parts that are still stuck in my head randomly.
Do you guys like Victory Gundam?
>>5091 Honestly its probably the one I like the most or at least enjoyed the most. Though my gundam knowledge cuts off at around turn a.
How could she be this Hot in the origin?

>>5798 forgot the pic.
>>5091 Yeah, it's not my favorite but I'd still rather rewatch it than any non-Tomino season.

Just leaving this here.
>>303 Turn A is a manifestation of Tomino's hope for a better future.

>>301 I think you should just not take it literally. The way I see, the references to other series are just to serve as a narrative implication that regardless of methods, regardless of timelines/ series, escalating arms race will lead to Black History. Think that old quote about WW3 being fought with sticks and stones. It could be wing timeline, it could be X or whatever, if humanities keep making bigger wars and worse weapons, then eventually you get Black History. But at the same time, the good thing about humanity is that we are resilient and will always bounce back. That's Turn A.
>>3552 >Thunderbolt I like it. It's a lot flashier and feels more like a 90s Hollywood action movie complete with a cocky ace pilot protagonist, but it does also have the usual war themes about soldiers being exploited and cast aside when they're no longer useful and so on.

>>10691 Nice
>>10684 Oh and also, the art is great though I didn't quite like some of the mecha designs like the Full Armor. >>3552 You can also check out the 1st Thunderbolt OVA, it's pretty well adapted.
What was that anime with a scene some boy is imagine where the girl leg locks him to prevent him from leaving?
Give me a Gundam show where main characters didnt die in the end
>>24187 The MCs survive in most Gundams though.
I don't think you're meant to figure out what in-universe method the timelines come together. I think of it more in the meta narrative sense that Tomino has Turn A take place after all other Gundam series, even ones he wasn't involved in, so that he'd always have the last word on the franchise.
>>10528 Then what is Brain Powerd a manifestation of?
I know that there's a new Gundam airing right now but I'm saving this thread from the Black History just in case anons want to talk about the older installments.
>>57126 You have /m/ for that.
>>301 SEED was meant to be after Turn A. 00 was meant to be in UC. Neither were conceptualized as independent works with feeding into Turn A in mind. As in the image you posted, only AC, FC, AW, and UC feed into CC because CC was made with these in mind, and CC feeds into Reconguista. We can assume that any alt-UC that doesn't do anything significant like blow up the Moon also feeds into CC. All other timelines do not feed into CC but do feed into EXA.
