Pretty sure the mangaka was inspired by Gintama here again (he was an assistant), a very similar gag was in Gintama but I can't find the pic right now, where they grab each other in a line. It's cool to see that Gintama has left a lasting impression on this guy.

Is this a reference to Vampire: the Masquerade larp of all things? Or just a coincidence? When you're using Obfuscate in VTM larp you cross your arms in front of you so that people know you're invisible and they should ignore you. It didn't have the pointer fingers though. It might be used by other larping systems too, I wonder if larpers in Japan use the same gesture.
