I don't understand how people think that Digimon's designs are "dated" or "overdesigned". Especially when compared to its contemporaries like Pokémon. It's usually only Pokémon fans that say this. The majority of Digimon designs are lively and expressive with tons of personality to each of them. Whereas with Pokémon, vast majorities of them are just throwaway cartoon animals or just downright bad. If I was a kid in the Pokémon world and I got a surskit as a companion I would just release it and stay home. The designs are so stiff and as corporately bland as humanly possible. I genuinely don't know how anyone could prefer Pokémon designs to Digimon unless they have absolutely zero sense of aesthetic or taste.

Ghost Game is an excellent children's horror anthology anime. The adventure seasons also got various sequel movies and OVAs, all with mixed reception, and a very bad remake.

No, Bandai discontinued the Vital Bracelet a couple of years ago after they wasted a bunch of money trying to make it work with non-Digimon franchises. Shonen Jump fans didn't want a fitbit with My Hero Academia v-pet mechanics, so it killed the whole line, Digimon and all.

What is the most anti-Pokemon Digimon season/anime of all? I want to watch a Digimon anime, but I want something that doesn't feel at all like Pokemon. I want something that, when I watch it, feels like anything other than Pokemon.

It was a strong first episode. I feel like the cliffhanger at the end was only there to show people this isn't going to be an episodic series like Ghost Game. They could have finished the battle with knock-off Garurumon this episode.
