As someone who doesn't worship japs or suck their tiny sausages for a living, like the average /a/ browser, I thought the new SL season was great. I literally don't understand the bizarre unbridled hate I see on giga weeb forums for this one anime. I can see why japs don't like it. The main character ISN'T a weak unassertive punk bitch like most japanese protagonist, so they probably can't relate to him as much.

I concede that maybe, because of the deluge of shit stories my anime bar has lowered, and Yeah SL has many narrative problems, characters and themes presented, with some real potential, that got forgotten easily. Other problem, so to speak is that Jin Woo is more humane than your average shonen gary stu but not fleshed out enough for readers / watchers that want more besides frantic fights. I member how hordes of children called MC a pussy for crying when he cures his mom, but that really a moment that defines crystal clear who MC is as a person, someone with good family, firm principles that got resposabilities imposed on him way early, before he had time to properly develop and mature as a person, that explains how, while be proficient at dealing with some conflicts, he is a complete dork and / or oblivious to other personal relationship issues. Thats why I say that the story is not shakespear, but is good by anime standards, yeah it has tons of issues that show that the author and /or the adaptation are makings of a writer that was long ways to go to improve his writing capabilities.

I hateread all of Solo Leveling and it only gets progressively worse and worse. Beginning is interesting because he actually struggles and works hard to survive. He gets angry, suffers, and has actual emotions. Then after he fights that B hunter Kang Taeshik, he "killed his emotions" and became an emotionless fuck afterwards. This is where it all went downhill. He had no personality anymore and became boring. Things got even worse when he got promoted to S rank. He had zero struggles anymore as this series devolved into mary sue wish fulfillment wankfest. All with a boring MC. And as sidenote, fuck the MC/author for ditching the cute healer girl in the beginning. She cared about him long before anyone else and they dumped her for the S rank slut. I finished reading this and regretted it. I promised to never touch korean kuso ever again.
