Do you watch seasonal anime as it comes out? Do you wait until the season is over to binge? Do you not follow seasonalshit at all? And perhaps most importantly regardless of your previous answer, do you then go read the source material if you liked it?
>>73260 >If something's being adapted from a game or VN there's typically a lot lost in translation. At this point I can't remember the last non-manga adaptation that didn't have a lot lost in adaptation. Actually to think about it, as of the tail end of the 10s and now the 20s, basically the only adaptations that can improve over the source material are shounenshit, and only modern shounenshit at that. Which is kind of a problem and I can't really put it into words, but shounenshit art and paneling now really feels low effort with a "the anime will fix this" mentality, no idea how explain it in detail.
>>73414 LoGH is great but also overrated. People praise its writing but there's a massive gaping plot hole that I've yet to see anyone mention. t. watched it
>>73368 >Diebuster No, your taste is genuine garbage.
>>73458 >but there's a massive gaping plot hole that I've yet to see anyone mention. I think at this point not mentioning that seems like a collective in-joke for those that watched it and have a brain, I also noticed it back in the day wondering if it was caused by the adaptation butchering that part of the plot or not. By now I have gone so long without mentioning that I also actively refuse to mention it aside from vaguely pointing at it. I will also request you to not mention it either, it's way fucking funnier this way.
>>73459 Stop trolling. Diebuster is the best anime.
>>73469 >trolling I already wrote a review airing out my grievances with it years ago. >>1787 One of the most disappointing anime I've ever watched.
>>73477 This is the problem with a lot of old anime mind you, especially pre-2000s stuff which is what people consider the cutoff "before moekuso ruined everything", it tends to be overrated as fuck off the sole fact that it is indeed old.
>>73368 sauce for middle left
>>73061 I don't watch anime anymore. I'm a manga only person since forever.
>>73510 What series was what did you in, waiting for an S2 that will never come?
>>73523 I was going to say "nothing in particular", but now I remember dropping Index and anime torrents because of how they ruined the Battle Royale arc. >S2 that will never come Rokka no Yuusha
>>73477 >>1787 >Diebuster fucking sucked, it is not worth your time if you liked Gunbuster, unless you just have shit taste or something. >Fucking hell. I was very much looking forward to this too, and fully expected it to be better than Gunbuster with the decade and a half worth of experience they must've gained, but instead they regressed and made a literal pile of dogshit on a platter. Gunbuster was solid and a worthwhile watch despite many flaws, so I was hoping for something amazing with Diebuster, and instead it was just trash Diebuster was much better than Gunbuster. You probably only like Gunbuster because you've been told it's an anime true anime fans watch. You probably like Lain too for the same reason. Diebuster was peak 00's moe in action, complete with playboy bunny intro. I don't know if it was daicon reference or not but it set the tone for the ride. >No music worth a damn (besides the OP) compared to the original Gunbuster Are you fucking kidding me? There isn't a single Gunbuster track that tops this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mGvIeWPcdGg maybe the real issue is your taste. >Not a single fight scene that felt like it had impact I thought you were comparing this to Gunbuster? Did you seriously watch the same time I did? Every fucking episode ended in the most impactful conclusion imaginable. Splitting a goddamn planet in half wasn't even the most epic thing they did in this anime! >Horrible, inconsistent, incoherent plot and writing >HORRIBLE characters in every way (design, dialogue, writing/actions) >Terrible and nonsensical themes that don't line up with the character's actions. Nonsensical intrigue is the bread and butter of good fantasy/sci-fi anime. It starts with nonsense and ends with even more nonsense. If you want boring shit like characters acting realistically or "relatable" *vomits* then your taste is just shit. I don't want to relate to the moe thingy yurily frolicking in space after her pseudo oneesan. I want her braindead so I can turn off my brain as well. >Retarded concept and terrible mecha designs >Fucking "topless"? Yeah this perfectly encompasses that you aren't the target audience. You just don't get it, do you? It's actually a bit sad. >No impactful or high-intensity action scenes whatsoever I know there is no way someone is menhera enough to come to a website with 0 visitors make a 500 word troll post but seriously that is a completely insane thing to say about DIEBUSTER!!! LITERALLY SPLITTING PLANETS DUDE >>No cool factor for a mecha show, which is fatal SPLITTING PLANETS >feel nothing by the end of it Wow dude how the actual fuck do you watch Gunbuster and reach to the end of Diebuster and "feel nothing" like seriously I basically screamed at the screen at that KINO ending every my subtitles were saying the ending was goated. Honestly I pity you. To think there are such pitiful weebs in this world that are unable to experience Diebuster and feel the boundless glee it was meant to instill... that is just too sad. I hope you found some anime you actually enjoy. Cheers.
>>73551 This is probably the lamest and most limpdicked defense of an anime I've seen in a while. >You probably only like Gunbuster because you've been told it's an anime true anime fans watch. You probably like Lain too for the same reason. <I don't like your opinion so I'll make up stereotypes about you Nigger, I already said in my post that I considered Gunbuster to have plenty of flaws. I liked Gunbuster, I didn't love it. I don't care about Lain at all. >Diebuster was peak 00's moe in action, complete with playboy bunny intro. I don't know if it was daicon reference or not but it set the tone for the ride. If your reasons for liking an anime are this weak and shallow, that's just sad. Gunbuster showed nipples and you're content with weak playboy bunny shit? Are you some kind of redditor? >muh splitting planets Your strongest argument for it is just the scale of destruction, too bad it lacked the style, presentation and impact needed to actually make the show cool. Just because a few explosions were big doesn't mean the show is automatically good. Gunbuster's sequence in episode 5 was great and it didn't need to destroy celestial bodies to accomplish more of a feeling of badassery than anything in Diebuster did (though if they chose to do so, they certainly could have done as much). The closest thing I came to enjoying in Diebuster was the part where Nono did indeed transform and shit so I'll give you that it's something, but not much all things considered (especially when Gainax themselves one-upped pretty much all scales of destruction in anime with Gurren Lagann just a few years later which was way cooler, but I digress). >there isn't a single gunbuster track that exceeds this Literally every action track used in Gunbuster exceeds that. Its about as generic a track as you can get. So you're literally just a braindead retard then? Don't worry, you relate perfectly well to the male characters in the show. You might as well just say you wanted to rape Nono too because that's what Gainax did to this series. I never said I needed them to be "realistic" or "relatable", I just needed them to be likable, and the only character who was likable was Nono (who the series treated like shit). >I hope you found some anime you actually enjoy. Cheers. I actually tend to enjoy much of the anime I watch because I know my tastes and stick to what I believe I'm likely to enjoy rather than forcing myself to conform to other people's dogshit tastes. I was fully expecting Diebuster to be good which is why my disappointment with it was great. Hell, they already had an advantage with the fact that one of the reasons I watched Gunbuster in the first place was to get to Diebuster because I'd heard about the giant sexy female mecha involved in the latter, though I didn't know it had fucking stumps for legs until I saw it. >I basically screamed at the screen "KINO" Well, thanks for confirming the "retard" part I guess.
>>73551 >>73553 Why are you both so mad? One of you is retarded, yes, but that's no reason to be mean spirited
>>73554 I was frustrated with Diebuster because I don't like wasting my time watching shitty anime, and the show was one of the biggest disappointments I've experienced in anime. One of the reasons I tried the show out was because I didn't know that it was this bad, as I had never seen any noteworthy criticism of the show before that point, only that it tended to be "bundled" with Gunbuster and got a relatively good reputation attributed to it by proxy as a result of being a sequel that apparently nobody bothered to actually say ahything about. I don't trust the taste of anyone who enjoyed this show and I hope that nobody else has to waste their time with it.
>>73555 >I don't trust the taste of anyone who enjoyed this show and I hope that nobody else has to waste their time with it. In general it's hard to trust the opinion of any "old good new bad" monkey, especially when their cutoff is before 2005.
>>73554 >Normalnigger starts losing the argument. >"Le both sides why so upset??" posting starts to come up. Every single time. How come I don't see these posts on the gorillion threads and posts everywhere on the internet when shitting on anything that isn't generic shounenshit or a telenovela for foids?

>>73553 >Gunbuster showed nipples and you're content with weak playboy bunny shit? lol what. I'm not watching porn you gooner, I'm watching anime. And anime is about dreams. And playboy bunnies are made out of dreams. >Gunbuster's sequence in episode 5 was great and it didn't need to destroy celestial bodies to accomplish more of a feeling of badassery than anything in Diebuster did What? That's a complete lie. Your definition is badassery makes no damn sense. I have no idea what makes you so biased toward Gunbuster but you gotta understand the words coming out of your mouth don't describe our actual shared reality. It's like you have rose-tinted glasses on one eye and an eyepatch on the other! >Its about as generic a track as you can get. Do you have any more of these "generic" Diebuster music? Prove it. Post some links. >giant female Why the fuck would this be the part you look forward in the anime. Like I get it that you thought it was going to be like Gunbuster and you got disappointed but that's such a FranXX thing to wait for. Personally I loved the fact that Diebuster was different from Gunbuster because it was much better than Gunbuster. >>73554 I'm not mad. I was offended when they implied Diebuster wasn't the best anime in history. Then I heard their arguments. Now I'm fascinated by how wrong their opinion is. >water is bad because it isn't wet like Pepsi This is what they sound like to me. Just statements that sound like they describe an objective reality but that upon closer inspection are the ramblings of the utterly deranged. >>73555 >I don't trust the taste of anyone who enjoyed this show and I hope that nobody else has to waste their time with it. I have the complete opposite opinion. If someone says Diebuster is better than Gunbuster I'll trust that person with my life. >>73559 >In general it's hard to trust the opinion of any "old good new bad" monkey, especially when their cutoff is before 2005. Why is it so hard for you to trust facts? My cutoff is usually 2000 btw because of cel, but just because modern anime is generally ugly and narou era anime belong in the garbarge that doesn't mean there aren't anime after 2000 that aren't good. You would have to be an imbecile to think the world is that black and white. That said, old anime (before 2000) just look better. I don't get why Reiwa kodomos like shit like Jujutsu where characters just fucking teleport all over the screen all the fucking time and you can't see anything. I hate this style of action and I hate how predominant it is. Then they sprinkle VFX all over the damn artwork during editing until you can't even see what the animators drew. It's a grotesque perversion of what animation was supposed to be. That's why I prefer OG japanimation. It's the pure and unadulterated expression of an animator. An extinct breed that can no longer be created, which makes it all more valuable. >>73571 >loses an argument >implying there is an argument to be won You spend too much time on twitter. You can't "ratio" me. I'm here expressing my ideas and discussing anime because it's one of the few websites left where I'm still free to do so. You aren't going to gain followers by dunking on me or sperging like a menhera. There are no "e-celebs" no "youtubers" no "influencers". It's just us anons here.
>>73604 You seem too obsessed with ecelebs and twitterniggers honestly.
>>73535 >rokka ugh the romance with fremie was too wholesome to forget, and music was notably great.
>>73061 I don't get the people that can somehow keep up with all the seasonal shit for years straight and not burnt out. I don't think I could do it even as a NEET when I have vidya to play and LNs/VNs to read.
>>73714 I'm not like you. I couldn't even name an eceleb if you asked me because I only use twitter to follow Japanese artists like Raita. I don't use instagram either. I don't use youtube except to listen to 90's anime music and enka. I have never watched a single Mr. Beast video. I don't know a single OF thot.
>>73774 It's always funny seeing so called independent thinkers that just so happen to have their opinions align 1:1 with the consensus from ecelebs and reddit.
>>73061 if it's something story-focused then i wait till it's over to start watching it (sometimes it might take years), otherwise i watch it as it airs (which's usually the case). >source rarely, yet my source backlog's still fuckhueg.
Recently, with so little free time I have, I became more into watching anime because it feels lighter to chew through 24 min episodes compared to 1 hour episode shows or 2 hour+ movies, if that makes sense. What I like about anime is that it feels like the only TV format left that is still so full of unlimited creativity, like I don't feel like anime went to shit like American films and recently TV shows did, I made a bet with friends where they insisted anime also used to be better back in the day, but when we went through seasonal anime lineup, counting how many worth-a-watch anime each season had, we found that from since the last 10 years, anime barely "got worse" and is in fact is still doing pretty damn good, all things considered. I guess they were just too much of shounen fans. Also, no, I can't watch seasonal anime, like I said, I barely have enough time to play games. This is why even my selection of anime to watch has to be like something that's unique or something I haven't seen before, thankfully there are so many creative anime I have my hands full.
>>73808 >I barely have enough time to play games. You aren't one of those normalniggers that play vidya while pretending to "watch" anime you put on the background are you?
>>73813 What the fuck bro. What even gave you that impression ?
^I'm the same user >>73808 , by the way.
>>73832 Normalfags that claim to never have enough free time due to wasting it all on tiktok always use that as an excuse to "multitask" media like that. My apologies if that's not the case, I would consider someone thinking that of me legitimately insulting.
>>73835 No worries, I do find it insulting as well, hence my baffled reaction. I despise those 'multitasking' (ADHD) bitches as well. They'd say they didn't like X for Y reasons, where the Y are all invalid reasons because turns out, they were having lunch while watching. Like, I know it's all entertainment at the end of the day, but at least have some respect for what you're watching.
>>73836 >but at least have some respect for what you're watching. In general most people have zero self-respect these days, especially among normalfags. Even among ironic weebs the "anime is trash and so am I" culture has made it impossible to take any of them seriously.
>>73781 Name a single eceleb that listens to fucking enka. I will fucking subscribe to their whatever if you find one!
>>73890 Actually, isn't it weird ecelebs no longer give details like that anymore? In the past they were effectively video bloggers (hence "vlogger") and fairly personal in terms of what they showed to the camera. These days they can tell sob stories but still feel sterile and curated for the "global audience". They don't even feel like real people anymore.
>>73895 How the fuck would I know? I can't name a single eceleb. Anyways it probably goes like this: >eceleb says he likes Kishirika but in a non-lolicon way >immediately gets cancelled for being a lolicon >changes name and becomes a vtuber (female oneesan model (D cup)) streaming with voice changer >never exposes any personal information ever again Fuck cancel culture. Fuck terminally online brainlets assuming shit and starting baseless accusations.
