Gundam General Anonymous 01/20/2021 (Wed) 04:05:22 No. 301
How does the Turn A Gundam Correct Century work? Spoilers for the show but it's plot centers around the mystery of the Dark History. An era before the current time which in the show's setting is a Victorian era level of tech society with planes & blimps. This Dark History is hinted at & outright said to be essentially the history of at least 4 previous Gundam timelines. From my understanding, each timeline is supposed to be a different universe. So how does this work? Because I can't find a straight answer no matter where I look. Is it: >A: Each Gundam timeline referenced here were actually part of the same universe all along. >B: Each timeline was separate but something converged them into one.
Kamille is just edgy Amuro
>>301 From what I've heard the gundam universes are cyclical, with each of them ending with the Moonlight Butterfly. Which seems unlikely, especially the G Gundam timeline since things like the Devil Gundam would be a pretty good deterrent to any future WMDs. But Turn A is Tomino at one of his more depressed ebbs, so the message that all universes inexorably come toward oblivion, and that nothing Amuro, Heero, or Domon fought for mattered seems like a peak depressed Tomino message.
>>302 He was also an autist
(1.77 MB 1440x1090 ClipboardImage.png)

>>303 I don't think that's right at all. That doesn't account for multiple references to different timelines. The original Gundam is outright referenced & shown through most of the show & the Wing Gundam shows up when Corin gets a snap to the Gundam he hates so much.
>>304 That he was

Did someone say TURN A GUNDUMB!?
>>304 >>306 I won't deny Kamille was autistic. He outright says it. But I think all newtypes are some degree of autistic & passionately stupid.

>I think all newtypes are some degree of autistic This is why oldtype pilots are superior.
>>313 Suicide is cowardly though.

Finally finished Turn A Gundam on blu-ray. I can only come to the conclusion, from information directly from the show, that yes at least Wing, X, & G are part of the same universe as the UC. There's sufficient time given for them to take place too since the UC was 10,000 years ago & the Dark History ended only 2,000 years ago. Now how they fit in order in that timeline? That's a whole other question I can't answer.

MS Saga, of all things, actually touches on this in a few books. I have no idea why the game includes Wing content instead of X or Turn A when those are much better matches for its setting of a post-apocalyptic, but recovering, Earth where mobile suits are remnants of the now ruined civilization.

And when going back to find these screenshots, I remember I never actually finished the game and last played it 6 years ago. I recall I stopped playing sometime after Digging Rock and just looked up the rest of the story. Game was fun, but killed by some really egregious flaws >has a system for building MS, but mid-way through you repeatedly get handed new MSes that are better than anything you can build >to build an MS you need a large energy core, but you only ever get enough to build every suit in the game plus a single duplicate so no experimenting for you >you can often build suits before being given them for free, so fuck 100% completion without a guide >your party gets way too big and most of the characters don't feel that distinct due to large ability overlap Is there an infinite large energy core cheat? I might use it and go back to the game. OST is really cool though. http://invidious.snopyta.org/watch?v=liY7JHaGZ78&list=PLFeqBQGOZRrZ9sIOGJg_UDqAH-WShzKFO&index=8

I watched Gundam Origin recently. Loved it. Then watched the original Gundam series. Sadly a step down from how much more well crafted everything was in Origin, but that's to be expected. I accidentally watched Char's Counter Attack immediately after that and spoiled myself on his ending. Now I'm watching Zeta, and I have a nagging question. Will it ever be explained why the Titans are allowed to beat the shit out of Bright Noa? He was the captain of the White Ship that was instrumental in winning the war on Zeon. He should be a high ranking war hero, and here he is getting his shit kicked in by people with higher rank from a newly established mercenary arm of the military or some shit. Oh, and obligatory newfag statement that I'm sure everyone is aware of. The antagonists get much cooler looking robots.
>>301 >1rst image Damn I had no idea there were so many gundam shows/timelines. I gotta finish the UC stuff now as I have only seen MSG, 8th MS Team, and part of Gundam Wing.
>>301 A better way to understand Turn A Gundam: it was a shitty show produced exclusively to try to "take down Evangelion", said so by the producers themselves, and whose only focus was to make everything presented as shock value and "big reveals", regardless of continuity or quality, because sunrise is composed entirely of egocentric old men who don't understand the appeal of shows that aren't made by their own company.
>>303 >nothing matters and everything will vanish That is simply being realistic and understanding life for what it is.
>>3441 God loves you, you know.
>>3443 Life has no meaning and nothing matters. And dying sucks too. Welcome to reality as it is.
(160.29 KB 736x916 Jesus_hand.jpg)

>>3444 No. God has a meaning for every single one of us. Even at your worst, our lord and saviour Jesus Kristus Still loves you anon.
>>3385 The Titans were basically given free reign by the Earth Federation & then essentially replaced other higher ups to allow them more power without restriction. The events of the OYW & Stardust Memory 0083 especially gave rise to the Titans out of fear of Zeon remnants.
>>3385 The Titans are considered above normal Federation, even their lowest ranks are considered higher up than the highest regular Feddie ranks.
What faction in Gundam comes the closest to being the good guys? Most normalfags I talked to about it seem to lean towards the Earth Federation. >>354 >your party gets way too big and most of the characters don't feel that distinct due to large ability overlap That always annoys me in games.
>>3509 Well that depends on your views & morals. The Earth Federation no matter the point in the timeline aren't exactly good. They're defending Earth sure but they're also extremely corrupt & the government sent everyone to space in the first place. While Zeon was created through assassination & martyring the man behind the philosophy, they are ultimately just fighting for independence. Now in other universes there's a lot more clear cut divides between good & evil depending on what you're watching. It's the mainline that's more shades of grey.

>Here's your Gundam, bro. Finally got started on the OG Gundam series after putting it off for so long. It's going to be my first Gundam series, despite having been spoiled on a lot of stuff and already building two different Gunpla. Pretty good so far, only 7 episodes in though. Would have watched more, but the air conditioner in the house crapped out, so I have a mobile one in my room that drowns out a lot of sound so it makes watching videos difficult. I'm mostly a manga reader so I want to ask: What are some good Gundam manga I can read after the early UC saga?
>>3529 Gundam Origin acts as an alternate prequel to the original show. Not canon but doesn't necessarily not fit. Now Gundam Thunderbolt is a full on alternate universe of the original show. Not like yours where it's blatant characters being remade like Square Enix designed them. Brand new characters but similar story beats. Both have official english releases so you can get the volumes physically.
>>3512 All good points. >It's the mainline that's more shades of grey I actually really appreciate that. Too many shows like this like to have really clearcut villains and it kind of ruins it for me sometimes. >>3533 (checked) >Gundam Thunderbolt is a full on alternate universe of the original show Is it good?
>>3552 You'll like Thunderbolt if you like more adult characters rather than teenagers. It's pretty harrowing as far as the depictions of war in this franchise.
I started watching the original Mobile Suit Gundam, it seems good enough so far. On episode 8 right now.
>>3594 >adult characters rather than teenagers Well that already earns it quite a few points with me. I've been watching enough anime with teenager protags. Some of the mobile suit designs I saw when I was playing Gundam Battle Operation 2 looked pretty cool too so I'll have to check it out. >>3595 Glad you are enjoying it. It had a great soundtrack for it too. Lots of catchy parts that are still stuck in my head randomly.
