>>38587 >I wonder if he'll go back to the "face" being a supernatural weirdo. Most likely. >Or maybe he never stopped and bird bros will be vindicated. I've had some thoughts about that. I feel like the bird really does (or did) exist, but Tokiyuki's (possible) success is going to be through humanity's efforts. It feels pretty on-brand for Matsui's series.Tokiyuki also said he wants to avoid relying on the supernatural and that contrast's with Takauji who obviously reveled in divine power for his own great gains. Maybe the bird was a separate entity that became part of Tokiyuki's self as he grew older.
>>39156 >Tokiyuki's (possible) success is going to be through humanity's efforts I agree, but I still want the bird to do something cool. Although I'm not sure how you'd go about that while maintaining Tokiyuki's stance on the divine.

Volume 20 cover!
>>54312 Looks like low effort shit to be honest. And the proportions are all fucked up.
>>55127 I think it's nice. Spindly limbs are basically part of the "style" at this point. I don't like them but I expect them now.
>>55214 Yeah the skinniness is fine, I am the same. My problem is that the arm is way too long and the lower part longer than the upper arm and he basically has no shoulder. The shoulder joint should be further up and more to the right (and the pony tail defies gravity). Plus, it's just a really boring pose. But I am saying this as drawfag so maybe other people can ignore it. I mean the manga panels aren't better but I am more tolerant with these. For a colored cover image you would expect him to care, but we also got two right feet last time too. Strangely I feel like he has bigger issues drawing the MCs than the dudes. There are fucked poses there as well but they're rare. Most of the time the panels are showing the adult other men they are well-drawn. It's mostly adult Tokiyuki who looks bad.
(57.67 KB 375x488 heysayjump.jpg)

>>55373 >Strangely I feel like he has bigger issues drawing the MCs than the dudes. I think it's because he (or the editor) didn't want to lose the charm of the MC's younger forms, for better or worse. Most antagonists and supporting characters are already adults so they don't have to deal with a potential drastic design change unless they get a flashback or CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT haircuts.
>>55373 This is his third serialization and he still has these proportion issues, so sometimes I wonder if he does it on purpose.

End of chapter!
Thanks for the new dump, looks like I will have to go to 4chan for the rest of the dumps
So the manga lost all its fans when it went full hetero
>>61197 Nice. I wonder if using is uncommon cbz because it would be self-defeating for manga dumps. >cbz is just a renamed zip
Dumper are you the same guy from the 4chan dump thread?
>>61363 I don't have any sympathy towards fujos and homos. They've gotten more than enough of their fill.
>>61363 No. Other than at the very start with the little bit of bait with Yorishige, it's always been more het than not. While I don't think many people expected Tokiyuki to marry all of his love interests, everyone knew that those were his love interests long before then. And him taking three wives was viewed quite positively by most fans. There were a few detractors like that one gay shota artist that was very vocal about it But even he still reads it and continues drawing lewd Tokiyukis. It was just never very popular in the West to begin with. The anime attracted some, but the child protagonists and Matsui's humor kept most away.
Most anons were homos in most threads, I remember the spam. Then the girls started being more important and the homo spam slowed down
>>61592 >homo spam slowed down More like doubled down and shit on the series every week. I still remember the >Tokiyuki would never get married to a girl >the girls are abusing/raping Tokiyuki Mental illness.
>doomsamefag didn't kill itself Shame. Well, it was at least nice to go a week without it.
>>61658 He's never going to leave as long as people keep responding to him. He was mysteriously absent when 200 was dumped.
Who is the doomfag?
>>61674 Someone who would shit on the series every other week but refused to just drop it. During their usual fanart dump they accidentally posted a character from Kagurabachi.
>>61679 What did he hate?
(1.03 MB 1748x2472 Gpefp70boAAOc9w.jpeg)

>>61592 Rat lives on in my heart
>>61710 Pretty much everything post-timeskip. Thing is, I actually kind of get it to a degree as things are different compared to the beginning but I still like it a lot and feel like it's been following through with everything set up during pre-timeskip. Doomfag obviously doesn't like the series anymore but still acts like everyone else had his same opinions. Rather than drop the series, he would instead post non-sequiturs that mostly just shit up the thread rather than provide legitimate discussion.
>>61789 I don't think it was ever one person. I myself complained about a few pacing issues or chapters in the past and got called out by someone pretending that I was the "doomfag" and a salty Tokiyuki fag (I never even liked Tokiyuki's design). Basically everybody that said anything slightly bad about the manga gets accused of being one person that some anon(s?) had/have a personal vendetta with, due to retarded shota shipping wars. It kills the discussion because even the 9/10 I watched had some parts I think could have done better and not being able to say so creates a safe space atmosphere that I don't really expect nor want on an anonymous image board.
>>61813 >I don't think it was ever one person. From what I can tell, there have been two whose reigns of faggotry did not overlap. There was one before the anime aired that was more overt but also more honest that I do think eventually got bored and mostly or entirely fucked off. He seemed to have been someone who picked up the manga out of genuine interest but hated that it wasn't what he wanted it to be and decided to be an ass about it. And this started before the timeskip that people like to blame for everything. He hated even the parts that people hold up now to criticize the recent chapters. The one now showed up after the anime and is a 100% shitposter who only became interested in the series because he hates it and wants to shit on it. >due to retarded shota shipping wars This is a fiction spun up by the 2nd doomfag as a way of attacking the people who got tired of him shitting up every single thread for months. As has been pointed out many times before, he had already started his faggotry even before the Mima elopement and midriff Shizuku.
>>61200 He's going to be the actual antagonist that Tokiyuki will fight, right? Takauji as an antagonist has been consistently dissapointing.
>>61789 I really liked the pre-timeskip format of short, episodic arcs mixed with longer plot arcs that worked towards taking back Kamakura. Between characters I liked getting killed off and all the effort it takes to keep Tokiyuki relevant despite what the history says it's just not the same, but I still like it overall.
I'm the anon who posted Genghis Khan IV and Nobunaga's Ambition in some of the Elusive Samurai threads. I'll be pointing out that if Matsui didn't bait the history-readers at the start into thinking the story is a grey-grey situation instead of a typical shounen where Tokiyuki is 100% right and heroic, I'd be less harsh and critical of the post-timeskip. At the very least, it got some anons interested in the time period of the Late Hojo/Early Ashikaga, particularly through the Taiheiki NHK drama.
>>61926 >I'll be pointing out that if Matsui didn't bait the history-readers at the start into thinking the story is a grey-grey situation instead of a typical shounen where Tokiyuki is 100% right and heroic, I'd be less harsh and critical of the post-timeskip. None of this makes any sense at all. It was made clear that Takauji was a demon possessed villain in the very first chapter. And it's a WSJ manga. Even before the timeskip scapegoat there was never any pretense that it was going to be a manga adaptation of your beloved nhk drama. However, despite that, it's still not this black and white Tokiyuki right, everyone else wrong thing that you niggers try to claim. Most people on both sides have more redeeming qualities than not and aren't even framed as being in the wrong, just simply on opposite sides of a civil war. Even Takauji himself isn't all bad with the story seemingly heading towards offloading at least some of his villainy on whatever is possessing him.
>>61932 >Even before the timeskip scapegoat there was never any pretense that it was going to be a manga adaptation of your beloved nhk drama This revisionist viewpoint again, anon? The manga neglects to highlight the crimes of the Hojo clan in actual history and even downplays it by saying the usual "The Hojo may have problems but.." >Most people on both sides have more redeeming qualities than not and aren't even framed as being in the wrong, just simply on opposite sides of a civil war. Even Takauji himself isn't all bad with the story seemingly heading towards offloading at least some of his villainy on whatever is possessing him. You mean the side that depicted as backstabbing and distrustsful and has characters like the general who uses his troops as human shields and projectiles, an evil looking mad-scientist who contacts evil experiments while Tokiyuki and his friends and allies are cheerful, good-hearted and loyal and even that guy who outright admits he kills people for fun is treated lightly? Anon, you should read more history and treat this manga as a fun diversion instead of believing it at face value. Divci Valka does a better job at portraying actual history.
>>61957 >The manga neglects to highlight the crimes of the Hojo clan Would you care to remind us how Kojiro was sired? And despite everyone always talking about how corrupt or brutal the Hojo were, that's not even why they were overthrown. They were overthrown because Go-Daigo was seething about being a powerless puppet and took advantage of the fact that the samurai were seething that they didn't get anything for fighting off the Mongols. Which is why, in order to hold on to power, the Ashikaga had to give out so many gibs to the samurai that it resulted in a multi-generational civil war between excessively autonomous daimyo. >You mean the side that depicted as backstabbing So you never cared about "actual history" after all. The Ashikaga infighting isn't an invention of Matsui's. And he even presents Moron and Tadayoshi as both believing that they are the one that represents Takauji's will while Takauji himself is reluctant to turn on either of them without external prodding. And then pretty much everyone else is loyal at least to their own faction. >the general who uses his troops as human shields and projectiles, an evil looking mad-scientist who contacts evil experiments while Tokiyuki and his friends and allies are cheerful, good-hearted and loyal and even that guy who outright admits he kills people for fun is treated lightly Answer me this. Are you so blinded by hatred from this manga not sucking off the person you want it to that you genuinely don't see what you're doing or are you intentionally dishonest? Toki and Yuki are both treated as dark humor ultra bastards that still demand respect through martial prowess. And Noriaki is liked and respected by basically everyone with his mad scientist gimmick being used for humor while his loyalty and political pragmatism are taken seriously. This is like trying to argue that Sadamune was portrayed as a bad person because he had a temper. >you should read more history Take your own advice. It's pretty clear that this is the only "history" you're familiar with, since you're the one that can't pick up on a breed of propaganda that's present in practically every regime ever.
>>61897 The final battle is going to be a 5 chapter long chase scene where the two of them literally transform into gods and race each other throughout Japan, bending time and space in their wake. Then it will be revealed that history could not record this glorious conflict because no mortal man was capable of bearing witness to it.
>>61957 >even that guy who outright admits he kills people for fun is treated lightly? I'm pretty sure he was portrayed as a psycho that was mostly tolerated because he was on their side, was extremely loyal, and delivered results no matter how heinous. Everyone and even Yuki himself knows he's a messed up person and if there wasn't a war going on he would just be a serial killer.
>>61922 Yeah same. It's actually one of the most common complaints I see about manga in general and even cartoons. The changes of the format I mean. It's even worse when the tone changes as well, or even the genre, witnessed this often enough. It's understandable to some degree, but I still prefer the character-heavy, arc-focused narrative of the first half and the slower pace and antagonist shenanigans. Though it doesn't help that the cast is diminishing so drastically. The addition of Fuckboymaru and the increased screentime for Uesugi are great because of the lack of new antagonists or alliances to fill the void the disappearances of the old ones have left that the series was IMO suffering from before. Though I admit I am one of those that isn't really happy with the development of Takauji. Simply because he's boring and pretty annoying by now. I was never a Takauji fan but he worked much better as a villain before, at least for me.

>>64660 That's mostly a front. She's still bragging to her father about how much wild sex she's having but she's also (likely) a mom now.
>>64670 >That's mostly a front Well it doesn't feel like it to me. She acts like the typical devote housewife. The fact that the only part of her that still seems wild is her obsession with Tokiyuki sex just confirms further that she's nothing but waifu anymore.
>>64674 >baww muh waifu Should've voted in the survey, then.
>>64676 She isn't among my favorites so I would have voted someone else anyway. Still sad to see a character become boring and generic.
>>64681 >I would have voted someone else anyway. Still sad to see a character become boring and generic. No problem, as long you realize you're a minority opinion. In the most recent volume Matsui said the historical chapters were in cancellation numbers on the weekly survey despite the buzz about them online, so much so that he had to cut an arc he wanted to do. Munehiro's one of my favorite characters and he was also popular online but his appearances caused the survey to tank as well.

>>64692 Yeah, I mean it's technically a magazine for little boys, so no surprise they are bored by history no matter how good it is. They want pew pew and brainless ecchi jokes. I still think that Matsui's stuff isn't made for shounen magazines, especially not ngwk. There is a reason for why almost 100% of all historical manga run in seinen magazines. That said I am happy that best boy returned and he turns out to be not only more interesting than I thought but also historical.
>>64795 >I still think that Matsui's stuff isn't made for shounen magazines, especially not ngwk. I partially agree, hope he doesn't get demotivated or depressed and gives a Seinen mag a shot. Three full series with an anime each in WSJ is already a great run.
(314.06 KB 2048x1536 Gpn2ULAawAALyDW.jpeg)

Forgot there was no new chapter this week for reasons I am to lazy to google. Hope they won't release the second anime season after the manga has ended, that never works well unless it's some mainstream shit maybe.
>>65096 My anime news copium is >shown during chapter 203 >shown at Aniplex Online Fest 2025 >shown at or near Anime anniversary If it's not close to any of these I'll panic a little. >Hope they won't release the second anime season after the manga has ended That would be tragic, so I hope they don't.
>>65159 Good idea. Think the Aniplex Fest in September is the most likely date for a trailer. If it doesn't happen there I will worry. It's good if something takes time as it means it will be a product of quality. But I think that ngwk isn't popular enough to keep the fanbase and interest alive after the manga ends and I would love to see a third season at least and have it last a bit longer. The pacing makes it seem like the manga wouldn't run for long anymore. Maybe half a year, a year at best. Fear that everybody will have moved on or ignore the anime due to dislike of the manga ending or something if the second season starts later.

>Find out that Matsui had to cut out a historical arc due to the votes of the fans. So I was right about ES' change of focus to a more shonen audience.
>>66978 >That one anon who loves the Taiheiki NHK drama in ES 4chan thread I'm glad you enjoyed it and appreciated it's historical and entertainment value.
>>66978 >history fans did not vote during historical general arcs despite the praise >shonen fans actually vote at all >it's in a shonen magazine to begin with What else did you expect him to do?
>>66985 Isn't Matsui a fairly popular mangaka? His career and seniority should given him an immunity to editorial mandates and the need to pander to the base.
>>66987 >His career and seniority should given him an immunity to editorial mandates Samurai 8 was made by the creator of Naruto but was still susceptible to the axe as anyone else. I do hope he tries a seinen magazine after TES but I doubt it.

Feels bad that he had to shit on his dad and suck up to one of the men most responsible for destroying his life in order to survive. I wouldn't have been able to contain my seething at that age so credit to the historical Tokiyuki for managing it. >>65746 So in real life Yasuie took Tokiyuki up north first and then he came back down to Shinano to join up with Yorishige? I'm guessing Matsui chose not to do that in order to differentiate Yorishige and Akiie more, since they would have been narratively very similar if Yasuie had been the one to rescue and raise Tokiyuki. And he managed to make Yasuie best uncle anyway.

>>66978 The series was never made for a shounen magazine to begin with in my opinion, let alone WSJ. It's hard for me to understand why he's even still there. I heard that NGWK isn't even the first series of his that struggled. There is a reason for why basically all historical manga series are published in seinen magazines, even they're romance focused stories like Emma. >>66980 I cannot remember if I saw it being mentioned on 4chan or ngwk-twitter first, but I am thankful to the fans that recommended it, it was great. Gonna watch The 13 Lords of the Shogun (鎌倉殿の13人) next I think.
>>67063 He's had three serializations. Neuro wasn't a huge hit but it did alright for a first timer. Then assclass which was very successful. And now nigewaka. He's had an extremely good run in WSJ. And I have to disagree, nigewaka is unambiguously shounen right out of the gate and never pretends otherwise. I'm also skeptical that Matsui would be particularly successful writing seinen. At most I think he could benefit from going to jump+ to get more leeway for violence and sex jokes.
I feel like the balance of the story is suffering from the deaths and story shifts. The majority of the cast is gone now, even characters like Fubuki and Yorishige (who hasn't appeared in a good while, not even as a ghost) so all that's left are the MCs (who share the same political views, goals and morals) and less than a handful of antagonists of the same faction whose subplots WSJ demands to skim over which further leads to narrative imbalances and blander battles because the enemies feel lame since the story has no time to build up to their scenes in order to make them feel as crazy and threatening as they should be. It worked so well before but I feel like even Toki's showdown against Tokiyuki has turned him into a jobber. I want Tokiyuki to win, but I want more of an emotional pay-off to be honest.
