How do I force myself to read manga instead of watching anime?
Just read the manga and get some adhd meds
>>40135 i'm one of those can't see images in my head people
>>40154 then reading a picture book sounds right up your alley
>>40198 don't i have to act out the scenes in my head though?
>>40127 >Just read the manga and get some adhd meds I came here to post this
Realize anime art pales to the original manga. I stopped watching new anime in 2015 and gotten alot more interested in manga since then. The only new anime I've seen recently were because I read the manga first (Helck, Insomniacs, Shangri La)
>don't i have to act out the scenes in my head though? No, are you trying to self insert or be an actor?
>>40294 what so people just read manga without hearing any characters voices?
1.- Have shit taste 2.- Lower your IQ
>>40309 Depends which type you are. Picrel.
>>40127 Reading manga allows you to set your own pace instead of having to sit through whatever filler the director adds to pad the run time. It pretty much ruined anime for me because it feels unbearably slow in comparison
Keep it in /dbs/

>>40375 lol 1.reading complex, information dense non-fiction without sub-vocalizing is simply not possible. the kind of gigabrain who could do it didn't need that book in the first place. 2.reading fiction like that is entirely pointless. if you care so little about immersion, why are you even reading it? It's identical to watching anime on 2X, done exclusively to inflate your title count and as zoom zoom audi-visual background diarrhea. 3.What you can do is read low value normalfag garbage, like self-help books or Taleb-esque literature that stretches essay's worth of ideas into hundreds of pages. Verdict: skipping sub-vocalization is signature midwit technique.
>>40127 Why do you need to force yourself? I want to read the full story that anime often does not adapt; reading the light novel/manga is the only way to do this.
>>41079 To be fair, anime is by and large an extremely superficial slice of manga, and absolutely dwarfed by the latter in the sheer amount of unique high quality media available. I will never not be excited to read manga. I would consider anyone who avoids it to be missing out and not really into otaku stuff. I hope the retarded OP got what he wanted.
Also, chans have incredibly shit taste in manga.
>>40127 Just keep in mind that manga shows more skin and pantsu than the anime most of the time, and that will keep you motivated.
>>40127 Once you get used to it it's both faster and more detailed then anime
>>40365 That's for choosing to watch anime over manga. OP is asking for help in reading manga over watching anime.
>>40375 That pic feels like cope coming from people with a poor grasp of language.
>>42236 How many more times are you going to bump your retarded thread
>>40127 The same way you force yourself to read subtitles instead of watching a dub
>>40381 most anime is just sequenced unbearably badly. especially dialogue
>>40127 the hell kind of question is that? if you don't like the medium of manga then you don't have to, and manga supremacists are all retards who want praise for reading a comic book even what they're reading was probably based off an actual book
>>42822 but anime has more impact
>>40127 Stop watching shorts and tiktok and stop using social media (other than imageboards, of course). Also stop using AI sl*p. (yes, this shitty website censored that word).
>>43219 If it's good, which the vast majority of anime is not.
>>43231 the vast majority of manga isn't good either
>>43224 Why are you complaining about social media on one hand, and then the next bellyaching about not being able to say a buzzword that originated from youtube to reddit to /tv/ and is most affiliated with wojackposters who immigrated to sharty?
>>43224 i don't watch youtube at all or tik tok. I just hate reading manga on my pc
>>43248 Wojackposters may be retarded, but they were not wrong about AI. Social media and AI are both horrible side effects of capitalism and will make your life worse. The more you use these kind of things the more retarded you become.
>>43249 Reading on a phone unironically helps because it makes it feel more like a book.
>>43244 I feel like there's more good manga than good anime, but that may be bias. But still, you can always just go to an anime you finished watching and read the manga that wasn't adapted yet.
>>43260 what app do you use? using the websites and having to zoom in annoys the fuck out of me >>43270 true but i don't know if i can read manga for 5 hours straight like i could watch anime
>>43275 Learning to read actual books might do you some good.
>>43278 Naa i'm too retarded for that
>>43280 Try audiobooks then.
>>43275 >what app do you use? I use the mangadex website, but that doesn't seem to fit your criteria. >true but i don't know if i can read manga for 5 hours straight like i could watch anime Yeah, that's true. Not even I do that.
>>43292 Why wouldn't you use mihon? Who reads manga in a browser? That's insane.
>>43280 Start at an appropriate reading level.
>>43317 that's manga
>>43316 If it works, it works.
>>43325 kek but seriously go read Anne of Green Gables right now
>>43331 It doesn't work, that's like using streams to watch anime. With literally 2 seconds of effort you could improve your quality of life one hundredfold.
>>43325 Most of which is likely beyond your reading level.
>>43334 I'll watch the tv show instead
>>43337 You know he's lmasturbating to the attention you're giving him right now, right? His pants are on the ground at this very moment.
>>43335 So it works just fine and you're being a whiny bitch, got it.

>not hearing the kawai japanese voices >not getting to hear what everything they're saying sounds like in moonspeak and even understanding some of it that completely ruins it for me desu
>>43350 Heh, you are not even ready to see light novels. All I need is to know that the author also likes anime, and I am satisfied.
>>43350 Knowing that each medium has its strengths and there is kino that simply cannot be adequately translated between them helps
>>42246 >being dead serious about a aniki+virgin meme It's just a joke
>>43375 Reading straight from the source filters out all changes made to appeal to mainstream normalfags. It's the superior way of media consumption.
>>43389 you're reading it in Japanese?
>>43391 shut up
>>43350 translated manga is equivalent to a translated anime dub after all EOP mangafags literally are just reading comic books and you should never let them bully you
>>43350 Read the raws then.
>>43401 The only difference between anime dub and anime sub is the subtitles. You are still receiving translated information. You might as well read some (english) manga with an anime song in the background.
OP doesn't want to discuss anime or manga.
>>43415 i do
>>43415 The discussion here seems to be cenntered around anime and manga to me.
>>43420 No you definitely don't and you immediately tapped the airplane button on you're phone the second you made the thread and are now posting nothing but dumb bait on 2 IDs. Where is this thread going? Nowhere.
>>43415 Hence why the OP is his only post.
>>43426 I can confidently say that I am not OP. I guess the ID thing really was shitty.
>>43430 Make less terrible posts then.
>>43420 Sure doesn't seem like it.
>>43426 you tried looking at ids?
>>43432 Stop being such a sch*zo then
>>43413 if you're using the native Japanese audio you're hearing the voice actors chosen by the production committee responsible for the entire project giving performances guided by the director responsible for the entire creative vision of the series the only mark against subs is that your eyes are drawn to the bottom of the screen and you miss some finer visual details, but this factors less and less as you watch more anime and pick up more japanese
>>43429 The ID for the opening post and the ID for every post afterwards are different for the OP
>>43426 i posted it on my phone last night
>>43440 There's been tons of cases of anime adaptations changing the source to appeal to more people, and you can't pretend otherwise.
>>43435 how so?
>>43435 You can stop these pathetic sch*zoposts and leave the thread. Everybody here already understands you are wrong.
>>43463 This is exactly what I'm talking about, you are wasting my time and everyone else's. This isn't interesting. Either read manga or shut up and stop leading people on like a woman.
>>43470 You are the only one here derailing the conversation.
>>43470 i don't know why you are so angry
(210.69 KB 462x808 1744559286303918.png)

>>43474 >>43477 Yeah I'm out.
And this, ladies and gentlemen, is how you kill off a thread. It was all me simply using a vpn.
>>43455 irrelevant edge case and far less prevalent than trannylators not picking up on some non-otaku Japanese cultural reference and completely goofing up the conversation, even when they're not paid localizers instructed to fill in the gaps with western memes >anime subs do this too but the original dialogue is not erased like with manga
>>43480 now we can finally discuss anime
>>43403 I would have to learn moonspeak first and then learn fucking kanji. so yeah, that's not happening.
>>43487 >trannylators not picking up on some non-otaku Japanese cultural reference and completely goofing up the conversation, even when they're not paid localizers instructed to fill in the gaps with western memes That is just as bad. >the original dialogue is not erased like with manga In manga there may be the space limitation, meaning some text may get deleted, but it's far far worse with anime. With anime there is the time limitation, meaning you have to translate sentences while still keeping them around the same length, all while making sure it matches the character speaking onscreen. This happens in both anime dub and anime sub.
>>40127 I don't know. Watching multiple episodes per day leaves me feeling extremely satisfied in a way that nothing else can. I can actually get immersed and forget about everything else. I've recently been reading the MT novels though and found them nice.
>>40127 Read Dragon Ball Super after the Tournament of Power arc
>>43524 multiple episodes of any anime? >>43528 never watched dbz before
>>43520 it's less pronounced with subbed anime because I have ears and haven't fried my neurons so bad that I can only make out names and nothing else after all these years
Tangentially related but do no-inner-monologue NPCs not get, like, songs stuck in their head either?
>>43350 Anime is better because even if you don't know japanese, you hear the japanese. With manga you are forced to read the shitty translation or learn japanese, and i ain't have time for that.
>>43604 yes i do
>>43675 Fucking how, what is it even like
what do you mean?
>>43696 How is it having a song stuck in your head if you can't repeat the lyrics in your mind. Also wtf my ID changed.
>>43709 The pic has "can use an inner voice, but doesn't because it's inefficient". I assume songs getting stuck in your head don't count.
I highly doubt that there are many if any people who truly don't have an inner monologue they probably misunderstood the question because neurotypical people don't feel the need to obsessively talk to themselves in their head because that's how they derive their sense of identity
>>40127 Read a few volumes of Kingdom and then watch Kingdom
