This is just a worse YKK in every single way. The comedy is almost, but not entirely, terrible in execution and does a lot to undermine any longing for humanity Yachiyo expresses. The first episode almost had a good balance of comedy and iyashikei but this second episode feels much worse comparatively. It's also hard to take anything seriously when the hotel owner is on screen, he looks retarded.

I love the dancing scenes from the opening

Not really sure how I feel about these guys overall. I thought the plant fella was more interesting because he seemed truly alien and Yachiyo working hard to come to an understanding with him was fun. The Tanukians meanwhile have already conquered the language barrier and have no problem communicating, and it seems like Yachiyo already curbed the worst of their behaviour problems this episode. Makes you wonder what their role will be for the rest of the show, besides Ponko learning the magic of Doing it For Free.

Imagine if they pulled off a gunbuster ending

The toilet humour was unexpected, not quite a fan of that but everything else was fantastic as always. Yachiyo was definitely at her angriest here. I wonder if that is foreshadowing something, especially when they gave her red eyes for a while, though I might be reading too much into it, but her mental state was wawering ever since episode one, she is clearly doing her best to smile and push through but she always cracks somehow.

Keep in mind that earlier decades ago Yachiyo was screamed at by a costumer for hours and probably didn't even flinch. This robot is losing it

Bear in mind the human evacuation of earth is presumably set over 100 years in the future, such tech could surely be stabilised and minimised in that timeframe. There is alot of suspension of disbelief required to enjoy this anime, the food in particular. Sure, they grow crops, but who's fishing the seafood? where are the cows kept? who butchers them? do they just cook 150+ year old food they had mega-stockpiled in the freezer every day? I wouldnt theorycraft how the hotel remains running, you'd just get a headache and enjoy this AOTY less. Bear in mind they don't seem to be able to steal from other places, so scrounging for materials or maintenance parts seems beyond them. The robots are still slavishly loyal to human norms, laws and customs.

I know it sounds special, but the most I can tell is that it's in a weird key for the first part and the vocalist is a little off.
