-Kim was asked about the future growth of subculture games like BA. He believes there is still room for growth since streaming sites like netflix allowed other people worldwide to watch anime and get exposed to it.
-He also acknowledged which niche is which and is making sure that BA meets the "school story" niche demands and more
-He's aware that we are a bunch of lonely fucks and we need a game like BA to have a character we can be affectionate with (Kazusa GFE is real. I dont want toxoplasmosis)
-Interviewer asked what was the anime subculture popularity in Korea as in Japan, anime really didn't become mainstream until 2010s (interviewers words not mine). Kim said its similar in Korea. Covid definitely accelerated anime popularity mainstream
-Interview asked about how the game was so good at otaku pandering. He said instead of looking at it that way, it's more of the staff drawing what they are passionate about. Those kinds of works tend to resonate with like-minded people. BA won't be as successful without them
-Interviewer asks if there is some info he can provide with Project RX. He said "There's not gonna be much uniforms lol"
-BA has a perspective of a teacher who
gets raped guiding his students. Project RX will have a totally different perspective. During development, he foregone from making a BA spinoff to another game that meets another set of needs/niche
-mentions mika artist. Some BA staff are involved with RX but most are new staff
-He is happy about the game's 4th anniversary. He hopes to make a game that would be loved longer than his previous games during BA development and is grateful about how BA did
-He acknoledged how hard it is to keep a game like BA to keep running for 4 years.
-BA was loved by senseis much more than expected. He is happy but also worried. Staff is balancing the act of providing something different yet still not going away from what the game was loved for
-He mentions their break on Volume F and next stories. "More students will appear. They want to release more students and also students with alts. Also looking for QoL stuff and evaluating what needs to be changed and what is not.
-He cannot tell the details but they are preparing another turning point story like Eden treaty and Vol F did.
-They are expanding the BA team. They also may reach a point of "technical singularity" (I assume its the limit of how the game can be played), which they may need to redefine how the game is supposed to be played but also keeping the spirit of what it supposed to be.
-It's much more harder to surpass a initial goal than to bask on the previous success, so his personal goal was to make his staff to be the best subculture game dev group that teachers can trust.
-for his final message to the fans, he reassured that despite it being tough for devs to continue on the project for 2 years (prob referencing pikaman), they had to continue. He reassured that he will continue listening to fans and keep enthusiam of staff.
-One last followup question that interviewer forgot on main interview. How will they deal with students who were at one time at odds with the teacher?
>They have unlimited possibilities, so they believe that any student can reach salvation with the right opportunity.
/bag/ you will forgive, and you will like it.
and interview done. whew
