>I think this also kicks down others that maintain alternate app stores like samsung, amazon and epic (I think)
The Amazon app store for Android was shut down several months ago.
>I think phone companies might just start shipping modified versions of android with their own app stores
In some ways, that's actually an improvement, because it at least creates "some" competition for smartphone OSes. So thanks, Goolag.
>Piracy is a very big factor in second and third world countries so I hope this wouldn't fly there as well.
I don't see why those terrtiroties matter when they effectively have their own state-provided smartphone OSes and app stores. It's only in developed countries that "everyone" uses Google Play by default.
>but if it's the other thing then there won't be any other way around it except for installing a custom rom
That's sort of what I was thinking it would be, that Android is attempting to become as "locked down" as iOS. However I was curious how this would effect those of us on older versions. Like would this verification be implemented on both ends, that while you can no longer install apps unless they've been Goolag "verified", that it would also prevent you from installing apps unless you have a phone
WITH the verification software needed to verify that an app is verified.
Because I'm not willing to dismiss how stupid they'll make this shit.
