So the art book for AssCreed Niggers leaked and it has a Were/Was character in it: https://exhentai.org/g/3216773/171ad4c27e/ https://pixeldrain.com/u/JQCSYBkH Just for reference, the character having a "deep reverence for poetry, art, and nature" is completely at odds with being a tranny for several reasons. On the one hand, Japan was very stringent about how the traditional arts were practiced for each sex prior to the Edo period. For men, to be considered a "cultured" person, you were required to read and write in traditional Chinese and express an utmost adoration for China in your writings. Women didn't have this restriction placed upon them, and so they tended to write almost exlusively in Japanese. This resulted in a stark contrast where the men would talk about a country they never saw (To the point that almost all Japanese peotry was almost the same) while the women would talk about their petty, simple, and boring lives as maidens of the court (Which is why The Tale of Genji is so revered). Now there were instances of men writing works in Japanese, however these men were required to right those works as if they were from the "female perspective" because it was considered "low form" for proper work by a male author to be written in Japanese. In addition to these contrasts of artistic development before the Edo period, you also have the developments during it. Where Japan became extremely stringent in returning to it's "Chinese roots" of Confucianism, where man and women had exclusive roles, responsibilities, and attitudes. There were "allocations" for things like pubic crossdressing as in the case of the onnagata (Later during the period), but those were theatre performers acting out their craft and were still expected in all other instances to fulfil their duties as men when not in the public eye. That's not to mention, repeating as I just said, that there were strict "rules" as to what you could carry out in each craft. Poetry had to constantly be timeless, puppet drama were constantly dynamic, Nou was all about subtly, etc. There were rules that each art form had to adhere, and failing to do so branded that creator as a "failure" (At worst) or ecclectic (At best). To put it simply, the existence of a tranny in Adzuchi-Momoyama era Japan does not work, And if you want to see what a "true" rebel" of that era was, then look at Matsunaga Teitoku, the creator of the haiku, who even at first dismissed his artistic contribution as nothing more than bouts of frustrated witticisms for realizing that he could never be a "true" traditional Japanese poet.

The PS3 remake of the Japanese arcade game Dancing Eyes has been dumped and made available to the public: https://archive.ph/yR9uQ The game is a varation of Qix about tiny monkey attempts to undress various girls by removing patches of the clothes. The game was originally announced in 2011 alongside Pac-Man Championship Edition and Galaga Legions, to the utter scorn of outlets like Kotaku: https://archive.ph/C2NxC And officially canned less than a year later: https://archive.ph/dW0K However a little over a week ago, someone was able to find a QA build of the game and managed to dump it: https://hiddenpalace.org/Dancing_Eyes_(Mar_10,_2011_Prototype) Here are the only instructions at the moment detailing how to play it: https://xcancel.com/aldostools/status/1902060592510464179 <The EBOOT.BIN is a FSELF. It requires to be resigned as npDRM free retail SELF (EBOOT.BIN) using scetool. <It also works on CFW DPEX or PEX with DEX patches to allow FSELF.
>Assassin’s Creed Shadows isn’t the hit Ubisoft “desperately needs,” analyst says https://archive.ph/Fo8JD <As mentioned, Ubisoft triumphantly announced a couple of days ago that two million players have already picked up Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Today, it’s been reported by VGC that in terms of sales revenue, Shadows has achieved the second biggest launch in the series, behind only 2020’s Valhalla. By being available on Steam on day one, it’s also now the leading game in the series on Valve’s platform. <... <MIDiA Research’s Rhys Elliott says that “the numbers do NOT reflect [the] smash hit Ubisoft desperately needs” and predicts that “given the scope and development time of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, the title has almost certainly not broken-even yet.” <While launching on Steam straight away was certainly a boon for the game, Elliot compares Shadows’ numbers on the platform to the port of Ghost of Tsushima, which treads on similar ground to the new Assassin’s Creed. Despite it being a port of a then-four-year-old game, Ghost of Tsushima sold roughly twice as many copies on Steam at launch than Shadows, according to data pulled from Alinea Analytics. <Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ Steam sales also pale in comparison to some of 2025’s true mega hits so far. Three days after launch, Shadows has apparently sold 310,000 copies. In a similar time frame, Split Fiction shifted 882,500 units on Steam, and the gargantuan Monster Hunter Wilds sold almost ten times better than Shadows with 3.7 million units, according to Alinea’s data.

>>238 >>233 Eh, I wouldn't call it a tranny off the bat. Even though it doesn't say "he or she" like it does with other characters, that could just by that homo femboy marketing like with Hideyoshi so characters in the story can go "I thought you were a girl!?". Putting the sex of the character in stone in promotional material would take away from the androgynous ambiguity of the character that helps make a trap a trap.

A video game in the 90's also came with a full color manual the length of a small book, and other goodies on occasion. Meanwhile, today's releases don't even have the full fucking game on the disc/cartridge.
>>361 >Post screencaps I was unable to get any, and while the livestream is on Youtube, the live chat replay is unavailable. Here is an article that has one though, at the very least: https://archive.md/nOfTE >A video game in the 90's also came with a full color manual the length of a small book, and other goodies on occasion. Meanwhile, today's releases don't even have the full fucking game on the disc/cartridge. That's a point that people seem to forget to mention, either willingly because they don't want to seem wrong, or unwillingly because they are too young to remember those times. Sure, it is a fact that $60 was worth much more in 1992 than it is now. But when you bought a game, you had the game. The complete experience that the devs managed to cram into a tiny cartridge by the skin of their teeth right before the deadline. No internet updates, no patches. Extra tracks and characters were not DLC, they were unlockables. Want to play with friends? Grab another controller and plug it in. And later on when games could go online, you just had to connect to Nintendo's servers and you could do it, no extra fee. From what I have seen, this inflation argument seems to be what people are pushing the most (a better term would be parroting). <"Mario Kart would be over a hundred bucks in today's money, so you're actually getting a deal with this one!" But the gaming experience has not improved nor stagnated, it has gotten worse. You get less for your money. So there really is no deal. It's gotten to a point where you have to choose between using $90 to pay your electricity bill or buy a underwhelming video game from Nintendo.
>>363 >That's a point that people seem to forget to mention, either willingly because they don't want to seem wrong, or unwillingly because they are too young to remember those times. A lot of the excuses I've seen come from literal Communists who argue that game prices are "only broken" because of "Capitalism is broken". >>344 >>346 Folow-up on this: https://archive.ph/JTIqJ >Nintendo Delays Switch 2 Pre-Orders In The US Amidst New Trump Tariffs The only question I have is wondering when would be a good time start buying shares. I usually put in orders over the weekend, as a way to relax and make a "sound" decision without any pressure, but I just wonder how long the selloff is going to be before shares start going up again. On the one hand, if I do put in an order over this weekend and the prices still go down come next week, the only "issue" I see is that I'd be buying stocks I already had an intention of purchasing but not for the best "possible" price. On the other hand, who knows what' going to happen over the weekend, as things may significantly turn around come Monday, and I would be missing my chance at some of the bargains going on.
>>366 Oh, this gets better: >The Trump Administration has announced a 46% tariff on Vietnam, where the Nintendo Switch 2 console is manufactured, and a 24% tariff on Japan, where Nintendo Switch 2 physical cartridges are manufactured.
Been noticing some deletions in the GG thread about the Switch 2, like one of the suggestions to name the next thread about the price increases. On an amusing note, cake kike's twitter account got suspended recently, so that might also explain some of his recent pissyness.

>>364 >A lot of the excuses I've seen come from literal Communists who argue that game prices are "only broken" because of "Capitalism is broken". I wonder how many of those people are actual Communists and how many of them are just repeating what they've seen said over and over on tiktok (Not that one is any better than the other)? After all, you can find someone blaming Capitalism for any problem nowadays. The average internet addicted person might just blame Capitalism as a knee-jerk reaction. >And I get tired of it very quickly because how do you argue with people who don't understand how economics works and want to live in a fantasy? You really can't argue with it. It's like dealing with a screaming toddler who just kicks his legs and covers his ears when he doesn't get what he wants. There's very little you could say to get them to actually consider that they might be wrong. Screaming and raging brings you down to their level and won't even work, and worst case scenario they will become smug, point, and laugh at you instead. It's best to state your case, the facts along with evidence, and stand by them calmly. If they don't want to listen, then fine, they will suffer more for it later. What's ironic is that in a way, Capitalism is the solution to this whole price problem. People think the games are too expensive, not worth it, and are unable to fit it into their budget. In a Capitalistic system, people can choose not to buy the product, and the company will lose profits, leading to them adjusting their price to appeal to customers. But there isn't enough competition for Nintendo, and many customers are willing to buy something they don't see as a good deal because they want that rush of adrenaline from buying something. >>366 This may prove that Nintendo was not charging $450 because of tariffs, since they may adjust the price from the $450 baseline to account for tariffs before release. A lot of people are blaming tariffs for the initial price. >>368 >Been noticing some deletions in the GG thread about the Switch 2, like one of the suggestions to name the next thread about the price increases. There was one about how the theme of the next thread should be about the Switch 2 being $450, since there was one about the PS5 Pro's ludicrous price. And that same message also suggested the thread theme could be in reference to the $40 game update pack things. Said message is now totally gone even though it was on topic and a valid suggestion, yet other ones remain, like the $80 Mario Kart one. >On an amusing note, cake kike's twitter account got suspended recently, so that might also explain some of his recent pissyness. If he was a mod on twitter he would have banned most of the users, since at least 75% of the internet is very displeased with Nintendo right now. Would have thought they were all bad actors out to get him. I didnt really think I could get more disappointed in him than I already am, but here we are. Truly pathetic behavior. >>369 I know the clip the image is from, but I was wondering if it was some random reference to something that happened recently that I hadn't noticed. Good to hear that it really is something completely random.
>>369 >>368 I brought it up in the meta thread asking why it was happening and it got baleted. This is getting ridiculous, I thought it was a pretty benign question all things considered.
>>355 Here's an interesting take on games now being $80: https://archive.ph/NnTjJ <The success of any gaming platform ultimately stems from its support from third-party publishers. Many of these publishers, especially the larger ones, subsequently have a big say in pricing policy on said platforms. <As the Switch 2 is the first of the next wave of consoles, Nintendo has been tasked with starting the price increase according to what their third-party partners likely want. <The reason why publishers are doing this is very simple: the last decade has resulted in catastrophic losses for most publishers worldwide. The constant layoffs have been the biggest and clearest symptom of this situation. <However, these publishers need to start making their money back quickly, so a price hike on a new platform will, in theory, give them that cash injection they so desperately need right now. <The fact that Nintendo is taking this full-on is also another trait of publishers often hiding their decision-making from public view, such as having Nintendo announce the price hike. Still, I sense Nintendo’s hands are tied on this one. <Unfortunately, as is often the case, gamers are being hit hard by the results of publisher management’s poor decision-making. I think it's mostly bullshit, but it does provide an interesting perspective that I wouldn't deny being a factor.
>>374 I hope the price increase reduces demand so the revenues crater even more.
>>374 An interesting perspective, and the author apparently is someone who specifically investigates Japanese games, so he might know a thing or two. But like you said most of these points are kind of weak. Why would Nintendo bend to the whims of third party publishers, even if those publishers are connected to big companies like Sony or Microsoft? They're asking Nintendo's permission to be on the Switch 2, after the original Switch became the best selling console in history. Nintendo has all the leverage in this bargain since they have the biggest potential audience for this upcoming console. If a third party demands a game be priced at $80 and Nintendo doesnt like that idea, they have the power to say no. <<However, these publishers need to start making their money back quickly, so a price hike on a new platform will, in theory, give them that cash injection they so desperately need right now. No, this is shooting themselves in the foot. If people aren't buying games because they are suffering from economic issues, making games more expensive wont make them want to buy it. And maybe if these companies made games people liked, without pushing agendas or including ESG/DEI, people would also feel more excitement about games.

>>367 >/v/irgins won't be able to afford the new star spangling turd even if they hoard all of their welfare checks for a whole year.
>>377 I think you're overestimating the intelligence of businessmen at gaming companies, they see bigger $$$, they say yes. They can't imagine people not buying their shit.
>>344 This shit just doesn't end: >Nintendo Switch 2 Joy-Cons Officially Have A Pay-To-Press Button https://archive.md/1A5XQ <Unfortunately, it also tried to bury the fact that this Game Chat feature will actually require a Nintendo Switch Online subscription once the free trial period ends on March 31, 2026. <That means that when March 31 rolls around next year, there will be a button on your Joy-Cons that is functionally useless, unless you're willing to pay for a subscription. <... <Now, you may be wondering what the button does if you don't have a subscription? Thankfully, Nintendo's vice president of player and product experience, Bill Trinen, was interviewed by Polygon on that very same topic. Trinen explains that the button will let you "find out about the NSO subscription there and get a sense of some of the functionality." It's basically a button that asks you to pay up. <When asked exactly why Nintendo is asking users to cough up cash for a paid version of Discord, Trinen explains it's because Game Chat itself is "part of the overall platform experience", and that Nintendo Switch Online is also "a critical piece of the Nintendo Switch 2 experience."
>>391 The fundamental psychology of desiring a new console is dependant upon that new console offering something no previous one has. eg. You want a ps2 because it has graphical upgrades that the n64 and ps1 could not offer, along with internet. Now the switch 2 offers nothing. The graphical increase is slight compared to the predecessor, and that wasn't even sold on graphical power, but on features, specifically mobility, it offered a console experience on the go. So Nintendo is trying to hype the new features of the switch 2, and those new experiences being offered are... A paid discord. I remind anons that discord currently exists for free, meaning this feature isn't new or exclusive to Nintendo, and is in fact something every other console has offered for over 15 years now. That isn't a reason to buy a switch 2, as it offers absolutely nothing new, at all. So the fundamental reason why a new console is desirable is missing completely from the new switch. Theoretically, no one should desire it. No one is sitting around imagining what it will be like to olay one, as they already know exactly what the experience would be, and can achieve the experience for free with even a 20 year old computer. Therefore, logically, the switch 2 is unwanted, and undesirable.
Fortunately we have a product for people who are poor, it's called Switch 1 https://archive.vn/Sfjmc <Nintendo says it understands that some consumers won't be able to afford Switch 2, which is why they're still making Switch 1 available
>>393 And, in case people accuse that headline of too much editorializing: https://archive.ph/uHA2r >Sony wants you to earn that PlayStation 3! <During a recent interview with Japanese economic website Toyo Keizai, ever-charming Ken Kutaragi had this to say about Sony's goal for the PS3: "for consumers to think to themselves 'I will work more hours to buy one'. We want people to feel that they want it, irrespective of anything else."
(20.35 MB 1280x720 w0F7sFldSPzx5tw1.mp4)

I just had a the humourous thought that, with all the tariff negotiations going on, this is going to definately impact that Switch 2, isn't it? With all of Trump's thumping about a trade deficit, isn't one of the "resulting" agreements after this going to inevitably be that countries will have to require that products to be released at the same price internationally as they domestically? And since the console is releasing with two different prices, $330 for the Japanese system and $450 for everywhere else, wouldn't that require that Nintendo will either have to resort to lowering the price of the international system or raising the price of the Japanese system?
>>393 Nintendo doesn't really need an April's fools livestream presentation, they are a huge fucking joke and yet their dickriders still imply: >they're just trolling teehee Retarded jokes like that can cost them a pretty penny, it already happened with LABO selling less than the Wii U.

>>355 As a follow-up to this: Game Key Cards may be the new norm if Japanese pre-orders are anything to go by https://archive.ph/1wCWz >At the time of writing, every physical third party Switch 2 game outside of Cyberpunk 2077 that is not a “Nintendo Switch 2 Edition” is a Game Key Card in Japan. This list of games includes the likes of new titles to the system in Daemon X Machina and Yakuza 0, but also some titles that have already seen physical Switch releases like Nobunaga’s Ambition Awakening and Sonic X Shadow Generations. It has also been confirmed that Spike Chunsoft’s No Sleep for Kaname Date will be a Game Key Card release in both the US and EU. >Looking at the pre-orders that are currently available in other regions, Daemon X Machina does appear to be a full release in the US.
Following Nintendo and Sony: Xbox and Microsoft reveal global price increases for consoles, accessories — and even games https://archive.ph/mYvJJ >Revealed to us by our sources and confirmed by Microsoft earlier today, the firm is increasing the prices of its Xbox consoles, accessories, and "later this year" during the holiday season, games as well — as the industry grapples with increasing costs. >... >With games hitting a maximum of $80 later in the year, Microsoft sources confirmed to me that, games will still be priced on a scale to reflect their scope, as is the case today. Smaller games could still come in at $50 or less, for example, while AAA big-budget titles like a new Call of Duty are doubtlessly going to hit that maximum price tier. >It's most likely a reaction to the new "maximum" set by Nintendo, as well as Microsoft's internal knowledge that GTA 6 is almost certainly going to come in at $80. Imminently upcoming Xbox games like DOOM: The Dark Ages will escape the price increase, but whatever is coming for Xbox in the fall likely won't. Mark is banning these topics on /v/: >Dynasty Warriors Origins focused on balanced sex-appeal that doesn’t compromise female characters’ roles and backgrounds, says series producer https://archive.ph/VVwNC <Dynasty Warriors Origins producer and Omega Force leader Tomohiko Sho recently talked about the dev team’s attitude towards fanservice in a candid three-way discussion with Denfaminicogamer and 4chan founder Hiroyuki Nishimura. <... <“When it came to portraying the characters, their personalities and dialogue, we aimed for a serious and strait-laced approach. We wanted to bring out the full appeal of the Romance of the Three Kingdoms and create a story that felt immersive. I guess sexy elements took a backseat as a natural outcome of that.” <Citing examples such as Sun Shangxian and Diaochan, Sho comments that forcing the characters into overly sexualized roles wouldn’t have fit into Omega Force’s vision for Origins. “Diaochan plays a vital and serious role in the story, so we had a clear direction in mind for her from the start. […] We gave her a special background – such as her early education in martial arts – so we wanted her to look like someone who could realistically fight. If we went overboard with fanservice, it’d feel weird during combat, so we tried to tone that down.” <According to Sho, the development team considers sex appeal important, which is why they worked hard on finding a balance that wouldn’t compromise Dynasty Warriors Origins’ tone. On a side note, he also jokingly suggested that all of Omega Force’s efforts got spend on the extensive cast of male generals. >Nintendo Privacy Policy Update Says Switch 2 'May' Monitor and Record Audio and Video Chat Sessions — With Your Consent https://archive.ph/QhrJd <Nintendo clarified its intentions on the privacy policy section of its website (as spotted by NintendoSoup). It’s a recent change that might impact how players utilize devices such as the Switch 2 in their homes and on the go, as Nintendo says it “may” use your information to “provide a safe and secure environment for certain of our services.” <“Our services may allow you to create, upload or share content such as text, images, audio, video, your nickname and user icon, or other content that you create or is licensed to you,” the Your Content section of its privacy policy says. <“With your consent, and to enforce our terms, we may also monitor and record your video and audio interactions with other users. When you use any of our services that include these or other similar capabilities we may collect your content in accordance with our terms of use and this policy.” <It's worth noting Nintendo's line about needing the user's consent to monitor and record video and audio, which suggests there will be an opt-in button when setting up the Switch 2. <Still, it's an important update fans should be aware of as we inch toward the launch of the Switch 2, which is slated to arrive June 5. A new Nintendo console means new features, and this time around, one focus for the architects behind the hardware involved giving players more multiplayer communication options. Leading the charge on this initiative is a new C button, which allows users to instantly start chatting with friends across Nintendo’s online network.

In fact, even the game’s producer himself, Omega Force’s Sho Tomohiko, admits to being caught off guard by how fruity some of the lines in there ended up. He recently addressed the topic in an unusual three-way discussion with Denfaminicogamer and 4chan founder Hiroyuki Nishimura. <Dynasty Warriors has always been the go-to franchise if you’re into power trips – with gameplay practically designed to make you drunk off how badass you are. Origins doubles down on this narratively with the self-insert-y male protagonist Ziluan who captivates all the warlords with his insane talent for martial arts (and happens to look super pretty and androgynous). ... < Sho mentions having a “Wait, what? moment when playing Dynasty Warriors Origins voiced for the first time (after recording was completed), as the BL fanservice was “beyond his expectations.” However, he clarifies that Omega Force’s team didn’t make these choices on a whim, but after considering what longtime musou fans would like – and they were on the mark it seems, as Sho mentions that there were plenty of fans who loved it.

Nintendo Can and Will Brick Your Switch Console for Modding and Piracy According to New Policy Update https://archive.ph/8wNyD >In a quiet but sweeping update to its user agreement, Nintendo now states it reserves the right to permanently disable your console—yes, brick it—if you’re caught attempting to pirate games, run unauthorized software, or tamper with any of the system’s protections. >“You acknowledge that if you fail to comply with the foregoing restrictions, Nintendo may render the Nintendo Account Services and/or the applicable Nintendo device permanently unusable in whole or in part,” the new agreement warns. >The update, first reported by GameFile, marks the first revision to the user terms since 2021. Where the old language merely told users not to “reverse-engineer or modify” their accounts, this new iteration takes a sledgehammer approach—leaving little doubt that Nintendo intends to get aggressive with piracy enforcement on the Switch 2. >... >Here’s where it gets even more concerning for some gamers: Nintendo’s privacy policy now allows expanded monitoring. If your device hits an error, the company collects a wide swath of data about what caused it—including what you were doing at the time. >“If you or your device experiences an error, we collect information about the error, the time the error occurred, the application or features being used, the state of the application when the error occurred, and any communications or content provided at the time the error occurred,” the policy states. >And with the Switch 2 adding a new Game Chat feature—including video and voice communication during gameplay—Nintendo has also updated its privacy policy to permit monitoring of audio and video interactions with user consent.

However, Omega Force sees potential for Dynasty Warrior’s expansion in the West and is optimistic about their future releases gaining more traction. <Dynasty Warriors: Origins, the franchise’s latest entry, has sold over 1 million copies to date. Its domestic release was especially successful, with the title selling 63,805 physical units on the PS5 during its first week (coming second only to Nintendo’s Donkey Kong Country Returns HD) and topping Japan’s Steam sales charts. Origins’ popularity in China is also impressive, as around 14k of its 20,588 reviews on Steam are in Chinese (Simplified and Traditional) at the time of writing. While this is to be expected given that the franchise is based on The Romance of the Three Kingdoms, Omega Force considers the Western market “very important” too, and will be focusing on attracting new fans through future entries.

This report lines up with an Assassin's Creed Hexe leak from around a year ago, where the name Elsa first appeared. <It's only a small piece of news and, as with any rumor, it should be taken with a pinch of salt. However, it certainly sounds plausible if the series' past is anything to go by. Previous Assassin's Creed storylines have often honed in on the idea of a "revenge story," in which the protagonist takes it upon themselves to right these wrongs over the course of the story. It's something that has served the Assassin's Creed franchise well over the years, and it wouldn't be a surprise to see it return in Hexe. >>635 >So, a collection of minigames games to promote the console? Shouldn't that just be free? Yes, it should be. In fact, not only should it be free, but it should be pre-loaded and ready to go on the console, and give rewards of some kind when you complete it. Maybe some kind of theme for your main menu, or an icon to use on your profile. These types of games should take little time, effort, and money to make, since they are pretty much side projects and fancy tutorials made by the main dev group as they polish the mechanics of the console. It's not a whole new game that took months and a whole new team to make. But Nintendo's greed and idiotic decision making has reached an all time high in recent years, so this kind of thinking has been thrown out the window.

>How Nintendo locked down the Switch 2’s USB-C port and broke third-party docking https://archive.ph/mK3nI <There’s always a reason why universal USB-C ports don’t “just work” like you’d expect. In the early days, it was incompetence or naiveté. Later, manufacturers often cheaped out. But in the case of Nintendo’s Switch 2, it appears to be intentional. <With the Nintendo Switch 2, it should be easy to plug your new, more expensive console into video glasses or TVs when you’re traveling away from home. USB-C makes it so. But Nintendo has intentionally broken the Switch 2’s compatibility with those devices, using a new encryption scheme and some form of dedicated encryption chip, two accessory manufacturers tell The Verge. <I haven’t yet found proof of that encryption chip myself — but when I analyzed the USB-C PD traffic with a Power-Z tester, I could clearly see the new Nintendo Switch not behaving like a good USB citizen should. <If you’ve been wondering why there are basically no portable Switch 2 docks on the market, this is the reason. Even Jsaux, the company that built its reputation by beating the Steam Deck dock to market, tells us it’s paused its plans to build a Switch 2 dock because of Nintendo’s actions. It’s not simply because the Switch 2 now requires more voltage, as was previously reported; it’s that Nintendo has made things even more difficult this generation. You can thank the EU for this as it was done in the name of "consumer protection".
>Nintendo Switch 2 units allegedly overheating — users report freezing and crashes while playing Cyberpunk 2077 and less power-hungry games https://archive.ph/abieZ <Multiple Nintendo Switch 2 owners, most notably in Japan, are reporting problems with the console overheating during gameplay, leading to crashes and freezes. The problem, as noted by Nintendo Soup, includes playing hefty new titles like Cyberpunk 2077, but also less hardware-intensive titles like Pokémon and Splatoon. <According to the report, users are reporting game freezes and crashes, as well as fans going into overdrive in order to try and dissipate heat. The multitude of reports from Japanese users all come from X and are machine-translated. Some users have reported crashing and periodic freezes, but only postulate that thermal performance might be to blame. "The fan's going nuts, so maybe it's overheating," one user reported while playing Rune Factory. <Some users are definitely reporting the issue while using the Switch 2 in dock mode. A Cyberpunk 2077 player said the game had crashed at least five times, while the fans seemed to be running at full speed. Others seem to be experiencing the thermal issues in handheld mode, with one user suggesting the Switch 2 became too hot to even hold while gaming.

Itch.io has started to shadowban adult content from their site: https://archive.ph/BOmy8 With some games getting outright takendown: https://archive.ph/slN9j The ones still available can still be accessible through search engines like Exa and Bing, but no one knows why this is occuring. Some people are speculating that it's another request by Visa/MC after what happened with Steam, but others are pointing out that the entire action seems rather premature in it's execution.

We understand this action is sudden and disruptive, and we are truly sorry for the frustration and confusion caused by this change. <Recently, we came under scrutiny from our payment processors regarding the nature of some content hosted on itch.io. Due to a game titled No Mercy, which was temporarily available on itch.io before being banned back in April, the organization Collective Shout launched a campaign against Steam and itch.io, directing concerns to our payment processors about the nature of certain content found on both platforms. <Our ability to process payments is critical for every creator on our platform. To ensure that we can continue to operate and provide a marketplace for all developers, we must prioritize our relationship with our payment partners and take immediate steps towards compliance. <This is a time critical moment for itch.io. The situation developed rapidly, and we had to act urgently to protect the platform’s core payment infrastructure. Unfortunately, this meant it was not realistic to provide creators with advance notice before making this change. We know this is not ideal, and we apologize for the abruptness of this change.
>>739 >And what happens when people start make fun of them for doing this Nothing? >Or even take advantge of the situation to promote this own site A potential boost to that site, but time will tell if it can whether the storm. Normalfags are creatures of habit. They'd rather beg the government to make companies stop doing things they don't like than to stop supporting those companies. Given this is mostly targeting smut, it's unlikely the government will do anything about it. There's a slim chance of Republicans in the USA pushing through a law to stop credit card companies from pressuring merchants, but the motivation behind that is high fees attached to gun sales. If it gets through, it may be worded only to protect guns. If smut gets attached to it, the Reps may be put off from it, or it may get bipartisan support from degenerate Dems. And then, if it gets through, it will likely be poorly implemented. It almost certainly won't protect lolis.

GTA, Duke Nukem, and Saints Row are the "true" targets of this current wave of censorship https://archive.ph/NXzo6 <DRM-free games storefront ZOOM Platform, which specialises in older PC games, released a statement titled “Preserving and Protecting Artistic Freedom” on 2 August 2025, claiming that one of their payment processors reached out to notify the site of concerns similar to those affecting itch.io and Steam: <“One of our payment processors made us aware that a ‘fellow member of the industry’ was concerned about our content. After we heard from the payment processor, we immediately engaged in lengthy discussions with both PayPal and Stripe.” <ZOOM Platform went on to say that they began working with these processors to “develop a tripartite solution” to their concerns. This solution includes the implementation of opt-in Two-Factor Authentication for customers, alternate payment processors and options, and a “wallet system” that allows users to add funds directly to their ZOOM Platform account and spend on the site’s products. <ZOOM Platform said this solution was developed to “ensure the right to free speech and freedom of expression as well as protect the safety of our valued customers and partners,” and later in the statement maintained that they “have no plans to remove any titles, and will do absolutely everything in our power to prevent such de-listings. We are fervent supporters of artistic freedom and always will be.” <A few days after ZOOM Platform posted its statement, a representative told GamingOnLinux that they expected delistings to grow, and that, in discussions at ZOOM Platform, titles like “Grand Theft Auto, Duke Nukem, and Saints Row were described as potentially at risk.” <ZOOM Platform does not currently offer GTA or Saints Row games, though it does appear to be the only online marketplace that offers Duke Nukem 1, Duke Nukem 2, Duke Nukem 3D, and Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project – all four games make up the platform’s best-sellers. <Update, 6 August 2025: A spokesperson for ZOOM Platform provided the following clarification to This Week in Videogames: <“In the course of our discussions with the payment processors, going over the content contained within games on our store, including the Duke Nukem franchise, we were made aware of loosely defined language, rules from credit card companies, that could include Duke Nukem’s portrayal of women.” <“When we pressed for more details, given that such language cast a wide net, we were told that Grand Theft Auto, and similar titles such as Saints Row, could very well fit this description.” <Regarding its initial published statement, ZOOM Platform said that “with the advent of the UK’s Online Safety Act, the potentiality for censorship is vastly increasing. We simply wanted to share this information, so that the public would be informed.” Every fucking time, they want to go after the same fucking games >Visa & Mastercard Overwhelmed by Gamer Backlash After Censoring Adult Games https://archive.ph/u6jTW <What started as a quiet “moral cleanup” targeting extreme adult games has escalated into a full-scale revolt. Following pressure from “activist” group Collective Shout, payment processors like Visa and Mastercard reportedly pressured digital storefronts such as Steam and Itch.io to delist or hide adult content—including games with BidenBTQ+ themes, which is ironic as the people who support such “efforts” are known to push censorship towards games with traditional feminine sex appeal. <But now the companies are being flooded with coordinated complaints from those looking to oppose this censorship. According to a report from Polygon, gamers are using call-in scripts and mass email templates to jam up Visa and Mastercard’s customer support systems, demanding they stop acting as moral gatekeepers for legal, digital entertainment. It’s gotten so bad that reps are reportedly “overwhelmed” by the volume of messages. PRODUCER OF SILENT, MOTOI OKAMOTO ADMITS THAT THE LATEST SILENT HILL HAS FEMINIST INSPIRATION! >Hinako Shimizu's arc in Silent Hill f is shaped by the Japanese women's rights movement of the 1960s and depicts 'how she musters the courage to combat' repression she encounters https://archive.is/4cCiY <"The game follows the torments and turmoils of Hinako [Shimizu], who is a repressed young woman," Motoi Okamoto, series producer of Silent Hill, tells me at Gamescom. "Hinako is an individual who's gone through a lot of repression, so there are a lot of things that are applying pressure to her. This is the source of many of her internal conflicts. The focus that we place on the story, and for Hinako, is how she musters the courage to combat that repression." <It's established straight away that Hinako doesn't want to conform to what society views as her role as the subservient wife or daughter. Unlike her older sister, it doesn't seem like she has much interest in marrying, and she has no love left for her abusive father, who seems to either ignore or yell at her depending on his mood. <Hinako's trauma-loaded backstory is largely in line with your average Silent Hill protagonist. Without a massive deposit of unresolved trauma or issues, the game would be too short and there'd be no iconic monsters to hide from. <But Silent Hill f does switch Hinako's story up a bit by turning back the clock. "The reason why we arrived at the 1960s is because this is an era that represents female repression in Japanese society," Okamoto says. "The 1960s were a time when this type of repression was prevalent, but it is also one of the hallmark eras in Japanese history for women's rights movements." <What makes her story all the more interesting isn't simply what Hinako has experienced in her life up until this moment, but her fears of what is to come, and her uncertain place in a world that is undergoing some huge societal changes.

>"Legality Is Not The Defining Factor": Steam Censorship Campaign Details It Seeks Removal Of Games Whether Legal Or Not https://archive.vn/NU4c8 <In a new interview, Caitlin Roper, campaigns manager at Collective Shout, revealed that "legality is not the defining factor" in the games it targets, stating that men who are defending the games "perpetrate crimes of violence against women." <Speaking in an interview with TweakTown, Roper states that the group's objection "is to content that glorifies sexualised violence against women and children," adding, "it is clear many of the men defending their r*pe games perpetrate crimes of violence against women, because they are doing it to us right now." <Roper states that while many of the games the company initially targeted would "be illegal in Australia," the organization doesn't view legality as the "defining factor". <"Our work focuses on combating the sexual objectification and exploitation of women and girls, so we focus our energy there," says Roper. "That said, we call out this objectification and abusive depictions of women and girls even where they are not illegal. Legality is not the defining factor; it is about documented evidence of harm to women and girls." <When asked about the damage Collective Shout was causing to developers who had released their games within the confines of the law, Roper stated, "If Steam and itch.io had been moderating their platforms as they should have, there would have been no need to temporarily delist games to ensure they were not in violation of their policies. Our objection has always been clearly stated - r*pe, inc*st, and posting on /leftypol/ual abuse." >Development Troubles & Internal Drama Allegedly Hurt Reputation Of Lost Soul Aside In China Ahead Of Release https://archive.vn/8md52 <After nearly a decade in development, Lost Soul Aside was released on August 29, 2025, and the game’s reputation within its home country of China has been overshadowed by controversy stemming from both development challenges and damaging internal drama. <The controversy arose earlier this year when leaked private chat logs from a former developer (thanks, Reset Era forums member Ceerious) began to spread online. These logs contained troubling comments that quickly went viral in Chinese gaming circles. In one exchange, the former developer boasted, “This project can only be completed thanks to Yang Bing [Lost Soul Aside director/producer] and me,” dismissing the contributions of others. Far more serious was the use of a slur and the claim that “when you lose one unit of sale from yellow people, you will receive ten units of sale from black people.” Another message accused Sony of forcing political correctness during a studio visit. <The authenticity of these leaks was not disputed by Lost Soul Aside director/producer Yang Bing, who promptly issued a public apology. He admitted his own failings in leadership, acknowledged that the remarks had caused harm, and stressed that the employee in question had already been dismissed last year.
>House committee asks Discord, Valve, Twitch and Reddit to testify on online radicalization https://archive.ph/tvJV0 <House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) has asked the CEOs of Discord, Twitch, Valve and Reddit to testify at a hearing on online radicalization. The hearing will be held on October 8, 2025, and is in direct response to the assassination of political activist Charlie Kirk, an event some have tried to connect to the online communities the alleged shooter, Tyler Robinson, participated in. <"Congress has a duty to oversee the online platforms that radicals have used to advance political violence," Comer shared in the press release announcing the hearing. "To prevent future radicalization and violence, the CEOs of Discord, Steam, Twitch, and Reddit must appear before the Oversight Committee and explain what actions they will take to ensure their platforms are not exploited for nefarious purposes." >In Mexico, a proposal was made to introduce a tax on “violent” video games https://archive.ph/S84lm <The Ministry of Finance of Mexico has proposed introducing a special 8% tax on games with “violent” content in the country. The idea is outlined in Mexico’s 2026 budget program. <The document cites studies that have found a correlation between engagement with such games and increased levels of aggression, anxiety, and other psychological issues among teenagers. The ministry hopes that the tax will reduce the demand for “violent” video games and prompt gamers to reconsider what they’re playing. <Exactly which games should be classified as “violent” is not specified in the document. According to Mexican media, it is likely that titles with age ratings of C and D, intended only for adult audiences and containing scenes of violence, will fall into this category. <The President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, has already expressed support for the initiative. She also emphasized that the authorities do not plan to ban the games themselves. >RFK Jr Claims Video Games Could Be Linked to U.S. Mass Shootings https://archive.ph/GYVCI <Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. suggested public events like video games, psychiatric medications, and social media might play a role in U.S. mass shootings — a claim that’s drawing strong criticism from experts who say it lacks solid evidence. <Robert F. Kennedy Jr., America’s current Secretary of Health and Human Services, made headlines by raising the possibility that violent video games could contribute to mass shootings in the U.S. during a public appearance with his “Make America Healthy Again Commission.” He pointed to other factors too — psychiatric drugs and social media usage — as part of what might be a multi-pronged explanation, but this blaming of video games will certainly feel nostalgic (at least, for those old enough to remember when it happened the first time, decades ago). <Kennedy used Switzerland as a comparison, noting that while it has similar gun ownership rates, mass shootings are dramatically less frequent there. According to his remarks, the U.S. is averaging a mass shooting every 23 hours. He also said the National Institutes of Health (NIH) is starting investigations into connections between overmedicating children and violence. >New fiscal report shows that physical game sales only made up 3% of PlayStation's revenue https://archive.ph/xGnYM <Physical media continues to hang on. But a recent sales report from PlayStation shows just how little of an impact it has to the company's revenue. The document details the composition of PlayStation's earnings for the 2024 fiscal year. The biggest driving force was add-on content, which made up a whopping 29% of revenue, while digital game sales made up 20%. Physical game releases, however, brought in 3% of PlayStation's overall income. That rate is down from the 6% that it was in PlayStation's 2020 fiscal year report.

>The Pokemon Co. former legal chief responds to fans requesting legal action against the Department of Homeland Security over title theme usage https://archive.ph/AzzHN <A recent video released by the US Department of Homeland Security has ignited a flare in the internet involving The Pokemon Company, as the recent video showcases imagery of DHS agents apprehending immigrants throughout the United States, all of this with the iconic Pokemon theme "Gotta Catch 'Em All" playing in the background, and some parts of the anime's intro showing Ash Ketchum appearing in between the DHS footage. <Given the controversial topic and situation regarding immigration, and the bold move of the Department of Homeland Security using Pokemon footage and music, many fans have started to ask Nintendo, Game Freak and The Pokemon Company directly to take legal action and sue the DHS over the unauthorized usage of Pokemon's intellectual property, and with The Pokemon Company's actions during the last couple of years are anything to go by, the company would be more than trigger happy to sue in this situation. <However, there's the possibility that The Pokemon Company might not take a legal action in this case, as former chief legal office (CLO) of the company, Don McGowan, has spoken directly to IGN about the whole situation, and according to McGowan's input and expertise on this subject, the company might not pursue taking legal action due to several key reasons: < don't see them doing anything about this for a few reasons. <First, think of how little you see [The Pokémon Company International]'s name in the press. They are INSANELY publicity-shy and prefer to let the brand be the brand. <Second, many of their execs in the USA are on green cards. <Even if I was still at the company I wouldn't touch this, and I'm the most trigger-happy CLO [Chief Legal Officer] I've ever met. This will blow over in a couple of days and they'll be happy to let it. >Umamusume: Pretty Derby highly popular among “core” gamers with over 100 games on Steam, research says https://archive.ph/OFyUY <According to the report (which looks at data from June 26 to July 25), US players make up the majority of Umamusume’s global playerbase. The US accounts for 32% of mobile downloads and 29% of Steam players. Not only that, but players in the US contribute more than 70% of mobile revenue, which suggests exceptionally high average spending per user. <Interestingly, nearly 80% of Steam users who picked up Umamusume had over 100 games in their libraries, which suggests the game is highly popular among core gamers. Sensor Tower speculates that the depth of Umamusume’s game mechanics and training system are what’s attracting this demographic. <The popularity wasn’t short-lived either, as both the mobile and Steam versions have seen steady growth in daily active users since launch, with a noticeable jump happening on July 16, when the SSR Kitasan Black and Satono Diamond banners were released.

>UK trade bodies call for new "growth" tax relief to scale-up studios "that will drive our industry for years to come" https://archive.ph/oBHfK <Game makers in the UK are calling on the British government to support a new tax relief plan, Games Growth Relief, and encourage development across the country. <An open letter signed by Ukie, TIGA, and more, calls for the introduction of a Games Growth Relief for projects up to $20 million (£15m) in a "targeted intervention that directly delivers on this ambition." <The paper claims the plan would deliver a return of millions of pounds and create "thousands of high-quality jobs," following on from the government's recently launched Creative Industries Sector Plan. <"It specifically supports the scale-up phase where our Great British studios transform from promising SME into the sustainable, globally competitive businesses that will drive our industry for generations to come," the letter says. <"Modelling done by Ukie and TIGA suggests that the introduction of a Games Growth Relief would deliver a return of up to £482m in annual GVA to the UK economy and create 1000’s of high-quality jobs in communities from Dundee to Brighton and Guildford to Manchester." >Japan’s Business Elite Demands State Bailout for Anime & Games https://archive.ph/7pyPC <The powerful Keidanren business federation has called on the Japanese government to immediately boost support for the video game, anime, and manga industries and launch a tougher crackdown on piracy. But when the state leans too deep into protecting IP, creative freedom, anti-piracy overreach, and bureaucratic control may follow—especially for indie creators. <The Keidanren (Japan Business Federation), a heavyweight corporate lobby, issued an “urgent message” on October 6 demanding the government provide large-scale, long-term strategic support to content industries like video games, anime, manga, film, and music. The group argued that Japan’s content exports have grown so fast they now rival semiconductor exports, and warns that unless the nation doubles down, it risks losing its edge in global pop culture. <In their call, Keidanren lays out a suite of demands: more aggressive piracy crackdowns (with special attention to manga), stronger funding for localization and global marketing, investment in new game development, and improved production environments for animation, including better pay and more staff. They frame the push not as cultural, but as economic: “content IPs should be central drivers of Japan’s economy.” >Kim Belair Finally Admits Sweet Baby Inc’s Real Role in AAA Gaming While Railing Against Critics — “We Did Nothing Wrong” https://archive.ph/LxSTj <For years, Sweet Baby Inc. has maintained that it functions as a narrative consultancy—a company that advises studios on “inclusive storytelling.” But in the August 2025 discussion, Belair described her team’s direct creative involvement in games like Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Alan Wake 2 as something that goes far beyond simple narrative consultation. <According to Belair, her staff worked on “the narrative beats and character work” for both projects, including key storylines involving Kraven and Harry Osborn (Side Note: Remember in that game when Harry tells Peter that he installed a “diverse board” at their new start up to “keep us on the right track?). <That admission alone contradicts Sweet Baby’s long-held claim that it only provides consultation, not hands-on development or authorship. <As Writing Raven noted in her coverage, Belair’s statements “quietly confirmed” what many gamers had suspected all along: that Sweet Baby Inc. is not merely offering input from the sidelines—it’s shaping the creative heart of modern AAA games. <... <When pressed about backlash from players and journalists, Belair adopted a defensive tone. <“There are thousands of videos about us,” she said. “But of those people, no one has written to us to say, ‘Hey, can I just ask a couple questions about how this works?’” <This claim doesn’t hold up to scrutiny. Multiple creators, including Smash JT, have publicly documented attempts to contact Sweet Baby Inc. that were ignored. <This was highlighted during the Gothic Therapy livestream, with Raven calling it “a rewriting of public record.” The inconsistency reinforced a growing perception that Sweet Baby Inc. doesn’t want engagement—it wants compliance. <Belair went on to describe the creative process as a “battlefield,” encouraging developers to “fight for their baby”—her phrase for personal ideas, even when they conflict with a game’s established direction. <For critics, that remark perfectly encapsulated the issue: Sweet Baby Inc. consultants aren’t merely assisting—they’re embedding their personal and ideological perspectives into someone else’s project. <Later in the discussion, Belair offered a sweeping defense of her company’s work: <“When people fight against wokeness, what they’re really doing is fighting against progressiveness—and in a way, fighting against themselves.” <The statement, equal parts defiant and dismissive, quickly made its way around social media—further fueling debate about the ideological slant of Kim Belair and Sweet Baby Inc. projects. <“We did nothing wrong,” Belair insisted. “We did our jobs the best we could.” <What Belair didn’t mention may be just as telling. She never once acknowledged the incident that sparked the backlash against her company: the conduct of former employee Chris Kindred, whose inflammatory social media posts and attempts to get Kabrutus Rambo kicked off Steam brought Sweet Baby Inc. into the public spotlight. <By leaving this out, Belair presented her company as a misunderstood victim rather than a participant in controversy. Writing Raven noted that this selective framing allowed her to control the narrative and deflect responsibility. >Sony's Mark Cerny shares official PS6 details: https://archive.ph/i5E7V <PS6 is coming "in a few years time" <Backed by Project Amethyst ML tech <Neural Arrays combine GPU compute units for efficient and faster processing <AMD Radiance cores, similar to Nvidia RT cores, for improved ray tracing and path tracing >Microsoft support for Windows 10 officially ends today, but a third of Steam players still use it https://archive.ph/ZIiMJ <According to Valve‘s hardware survey for September 2025, a total of 32.18% of users surveyed are still using Windows 10 – a drop of 2.9% but still around a third of Steam users nevertheless. <The percentage on Steam is lower than the global average – according to StatCounter, more than 40% of Windows users are still using Windows 10, and nearly 10% are still using its predecessor Windows 7. Steam’s lower figures are likely a result of video game players being more likely to upgrade their PC earlier.
>>960 >The group argued that Japan’s content exports have grown so fast they now rival semiconductor exports, and warns that unless the nation doubles down, it risks losing its edge in global pop culture. Having the government stick their fingers in entertainment media is what make them lose their edge. Any "funding and investment" from the government is going to come with caveats about what content can be made, meaning it will be incentivized to make "safe" shit that no one really likes because the government will pay for it. >>Kim Belair Finally Admits Sweet Baby Inc’s Real Role in AAA Gaming While Railing Against Critics — “We Did Nothing Wrong” <We're not doing that <And if we are it's a good thing (You are here) <And if it isn't it doesn't matter >>960 >>Microsoft support for Windows 10 officially ends today, but a third of Steam players still use it Fuck Wangblows. >Removing obfuscation in Java Edition https://www.minecraft.net/en-us/article/removing-obfuscation-in-java-edition https://archive.is/JzkXh <Do you like to mod Java, tinker with builds, or take deep dives into Minecraft’s code? Then this article is for you! <For a long time, Java Edition has used obfuscation (hiding parts of the code) – a common practice in the gaming industry. Now we’re changing how we ship Minecraft: Java Edition to remove obfuscation completely. We hope that, with this change, we can pave a future for Minecraft: Java Edition where it’s easier to create, update, and debug mods. <Minecraft: Java Edition has been obfuscated since its release. This obfuscation meant that people couldn’t see our source code. Instead, everything was scrambled – and those who wanted to mod Java Edition had to try and piece together what every class and function in the code did. <But we encourage people to get creative both in Minecraft and with Minecraft – so in 2019 we tried to make this tedious process a little easier by releasing “obfuscation mappings”. These mappings were essentially a long list that allowed people to match the obfuscated terms to un-obfuscated terms. This alleviated the issue a little, as modders didn’t need to puzzle out what everything did, or what it should be called anymore. But why stop there? <To make things even easier – and remove these intermediary steps – we’re removing obfuscation altogether! Starting with the first snapshot following the complete Mounts of Mayhem launch, we will no longer obfuscate Minecraft: Java Edition. This means that this build (and all future builds) will have all of our original names* – now with variable names and other names – included by default to make modding even easier. <Just a quick reminder: these changes don’t affect our Minecraft End User License Agreement and Minecraft Usage Guidelines. Both still apply to Minecraft: Java Edition and any mods, so please keep them in mind. For extra transparency, you’ll now find a LICENSE file inside the jar that links directly to the EULA. >bedrock still can't compete with Java I haven't touched Minecraft since like 1.6-1.8. What's up with bedrock right now? Doesn't it have modding support yet?

>>1208 This must be Valve's big attempt to break into a new market. All things considered, this is a good time to try it, too. Both Xbox and Playstation are failing to truly meet the expectations of customers. Xbox wants people to consider any electronic device to be an Xbox, drawing attention away from consoles. And Sony seems to want to charge an arm and a leg for a console with no games. Nintendo is getting sales, but players go to them for exclusives and not much else. And even long time fans are noticing and getting frustrated by their practices with online services and under performing hardware. Putting out a console-like PC is the perfect way to get console players' attention, since it inherently looks easy to set up. Because, after all, many console exclusive players are still console exclusive because of exclusives and/or the perceived difficulty and cost of building a PC.
>>1208 Specs: >CPU: Semi-custom AMD Zen 4 6C / 12T, up to 4.8 GHz, 30W TDP >GPU: Semi-Custom AMD RDNA3 28CUs, 2.45GHz max sustained clock, 110W TDP >RAM: 16GB DDR5 + 8GB GDDR6 VRAM >Power: Internal power supply, AC power 110-240V >Storage: Two Steam Machine models: 512GB NVMe SSD, 2TB NVMe SSD >Both models include a high-speed microSD card slot There's no official price announced, but the estimate seems to be at 800$. From what I can understand you're getting a 4080-tier graphics card and an Ryzen 7-tier CPU. I guess that's not too bad. >>1219 Personally, I would've hoped for them to ship a little more underpowered hardware than this. If the machine catches the network effect it would've forced devs to optimize their games a bit that probably wouldn't happen either way.

Burger Becky Dead at the Age of 62 https://archive.ph/MnSQe <Interplay co-founder and veteran game designer Rebecca Heineman has died at the age of 62 following a cancer diagnosis earlier this year. The news has been shared on social media by numerous friends and former colleagues of Heineman, including Heidi McDonald and Brian Fargo, while the latest post to a GoFundMe the developer set up to raise funds for treatment says that page's funds will now go towards Heineman's family making funeral arrangements. <"It’s time," reads the latest update to the developer's GoFundMe page. "According to my doctors. All further treatments are pointless. So, please donate so my kids can create a funeral worthy of my keyboard, Pixelbreaker! So I can make a worthy entrance for reuniting with my one true love, Jennell Jaquays. My daughter Cynthia Elizabeth Heineman, will be making the arrangements." <Heineman has also posted a "last toast" message to BlueSky and Instagram, which references her wife Jennell Jaquays, who died in January 2024 of complications caused by Guillain–Barré syndrome: "Valhalla really really reeked of beer, but Jennell seems happy. The other angels are tired of me saying "fight for the other users" while throwing my halo around. I leave it up to you to go to lindken.com and look up Jennell Jaquays, now look at her job description, goddess of technology...and fuck cancer, fuck it in the ass." From the wikipedia page: <Rebecca Ann Heineman was born William Salvador Heineman on October 30, 1963 <Around 2003, Heineman was diagnosed with gender dysphoria and began to transition to a woman. She formally changed her given name to Rebecca Ann. Since the transition, Heineman lived as a lesbian. As of 2020, Heineman resided in Heath, Texas. <She had five children and was married to Jennell Jaquays. Jaquays died in 2024. In October 2025, it was announced that Heineman was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer.[9] She died on November 17, 2025, at the age of 62. <Jennell Allyn Jaquays (born Paul Jaquays; October 14, 1956 – January 10, 2024) was an American game designer, video game artist, and illustrator of tabletop role-playing games (RPGs). >She had five children adopted?

>>1279 >>She had five children >adopted? I sure not, those poor kids, being raised in that kind of situation. Usually people like him have kids from before they trooned out, but it's hard to tell in this case. >>1287 Depends on who you ask I guess, but objectively a lot of the games he worked on seem to have been decently received. By the time he fell for the whole tranny thing in 2003, a lot of the video game work he would be known for was done, so logically he most likely didn't have the chance to taint a lot of his work with any ass-backwards concepts. I could be wrong though.
>>1291 >so logically he most likely didn't have the chance to taint a lot of his work with any ass-backwards concepts. I could be wrong though. The only thing I know about him for recently was him calling out Tim Cain regarding the Fallout source code. You see, Cain was bitching about how Interplay "lost" the source code to Fallout because they required employees to destroy company documents and assets whenever they left the company. However Heineman came out and declared that it was never lost as Interplay never destroyed it and the code was sitting preserved in his house somewhere. In fact, he said that he personally made it his job to preserve company assets after all the trouble they went through when releasing the 10 Year Anthology collection back in '93. Because, in the process of releasing that, they discovering how some of these "classic games" were literally rotting away due to poor storage conditions. Recently, he was apperently trying to find some method to release Fallout code, but is facing the hurdle that it's still under copyright (Which now belongs to M$).
>>1292 Should have never told anyone he had it, and released it anonymously.
>>1279 I found an interview with him https://archive.ph/zDQiY <If I was in my 20s, I would basically not even bring it up. In my 30s, I would probably burst into tears halfway through any of this. By the time I was in my 40s, my parents have already passed away. I’m like, okay, the people who caused this are gone. And now I could finally set myself free and no longer have to have nightmares of my dad bursting in the door to beat the crap out of me because he was drunk again. Which is one of the reasons why I don’t smoke or drink, because it reminds me of my shitty parents. <My mom and dad married because my mom was already pregnant, and they couldn’t have a child out of wedlock. And my dad was not my dad, it was someone else. Then in time, they had two more children, two sons. I was the eldest. My dad would favor my two brothers, and he would treat them like princes. Whereas, I was being treated as the help. And so I was always having to clean the dishes, do this. And every time my dad got mad, which every other day, I would be the one he would beat the crap out of. And then when we had dinner with the family, I was the one serving the meals while everybody else was eating around there. And of course I didn’t get a plate. And then by the time it was all done, I would eat the leftovers. And of course if they saw me eating the leftovers, I would get punished. <Becky: Somewhere when I was 15-ish I just had it. And I went to school and I just didn’t go home. And to put it in perspective, my family never sent out a missing persons report, or anything like that. That’s how much they cared. I then lived behind a dumpster of a store, I think was called Market Basket at the time. But I just lived either in the dumpster when it was raining or behind it, because they had blankets and stuff like that. <Adam: Becky got a job at JC Penny. <Becky: I just went in there and just said, “Hey, I’m 18.” And they didn’t bother checking anything, because back then we weren’t so anal about immigration status and shit like that. Then Christmas was done, then they had me transfer to their warehouse, but I was just in there moving boxes around, moving shit around. And that was it until finally I ended up at a video game contest. I guess it kind of makes sense now why he's the way he is.
>>1301 >I was the eldest. >Whereas, I was being treated as the help. And so I was always having to clean the dishes, do this. >And then when we had dinner with the family, I was the one serving the meals while everybody else was eating around there. And of course I didn’t get a plate. And then by the time it was all done, I would eat the leftovers. And of course if they saw me eating the leftovers, I would get punished. The guy was deathly afraid of being expected to help around the house and do chores, especially since he was the oldest? Seriously? >Somewhere when I was 15-ish I just had it. I feel like this contradicts the guy's earlier claim that he spent his formative year being poor and pirating 2600 games.
>>1303 I think that's after he moved in with his mom. <But then I found I had a talent for fixing video games, and I met a friend there who taught me the fine art of video game logic board repair. Which then, now that’s why I learned all my TTL logic and stuff like that, which helped me design boards that would allow me to copy Atari 2600 cartridges. <But yeah, I was homeless not that long. It was maybe three or four months, because every now and then I would go back to my old house. But then one day I went there and I saw a moving van. And, that’s weird. And then I saw my mom and she was like, “Oh, where have you been?” It’s like, “Been away.” And she’s like, “Well, we’re getting a divorce. I’m moving to this place.” And says, “Oh, so dad’s not going to be with you.” It’s like, “No, he’s staying here.” “Okay. Then, can I move in with you?” And at that point, moved back in. And that was my home base until I moved to Towson, Maryland. It doesn't make sense to me though. I thought the mom was complicit in beating her up and not feeding her or whatever. She either doesn't seem to care or was just acting based on trauma.
>>1305 >It doesn't make sense to me though. It's the details that make me think the guy is trying to play things up for victim points. The most comical incident I remember of this is how ZQ wrote in her biography about how "terrible" her childhood was, only for her mother to leave a Amazon review essentially calling her a lying bitch as none of that shit in her book ever happened. I mean just look at how the guy even admits that he ONLY brings this up because both his parents are dead. Then there's also the fact that I hear much worse horror stories from my father who DID grow up in Southern California during that same period (The 70's). To where he relates how there was one of his friends where his parents literally ran off to go on a neverending vacation and left the kid to take care of the house and the bills, then there was some other kid who spent the days in school and the evenings working a part-time job with all the money immediately being taken and used to supply his parent's drug habits. Even my dad and his elder sister were often left to take care of the house and their young siblings because my both of my grandparents where never around (Not because they were irresponsible, but because they were poor, with my grandfather's job only being enough to pay the bills while my grandmother was finding work to bring something extra into the house). Then there's also the fact that my dad was always bullied for being the "new kid" as they were constantly moving around until he was in high school, when they finally settled in California. THEN he was bullied because he was the only "white kid" in a minority neighborhood. But also the big difference between Heineman's story and what happened to my dad and the people he knew growing up in that environment is that the latter group never let themselves become victims. Yeah, it probably screwed them up in some ways, but they didn't let how shit their life was be the reason why they couldn't move on. Meanwhile, Becky here: <I was expected to do house chores, and it was so traumatic that I just "had" to runaway. It's also why I became a woman. QUICK QUESTION: What fucking stupid-ass emotional teenager HASN'T entertained the idea of becoming a runaway (or even suicide)? Not for any real and justified reasons, but for some of the stupid shit imaginable. Running off and joining the circus is a cliche for a reason. I'm not denying that shit parents exist, but these kinds of stories make me think the person just wants to be an eternal victim. Especially since he was "homeless" for "just a couple months" during a time when teenagers were allowed to be incredibly independent. Hell, my dad also relates how he know this one guy who dropped out of high school, established a surf shop right on the beach, and then spent the days surfing, the evenings running the shop, and the nights sleeping in that very same shop. Meanwhile today, you get arrested for letting your child walk half a mile to home, or let him play outside unattended.

>>1301 If this story is true, then it proves yet again that it is trauma and abuse that leads people to believe in transgenderism and be homosexuals, not anything natural. It would also explain why he hated his given name enough to insist on being called Burger. Not because he felt he shouldn't have a masculine name, but because he disliked the name his abusive parents gave him. >>1303 >I feel like this contradicts the guy's earlier claim that he spent his formative year being poor and pirating 2600 games. And if it is all/mostly a lie, then it just goes to show that mania and an unhealthy desire for attention is behind his mental illness and eventually becoming a tranny.

The lowest paid game developers still make double the average household income, and still complain about being "underpaid" >GDC: 60% of game developers in the US reported an increase in salaries, with an average pay of $142,000 a year https://archive.ph/INWKF <The highest average annual salaries were found among managers ($160,000) and programmers ($150,000). The lowest were among artists ($124,000). <Only 15% of surveyed AAA studio employees reported an annual salary below $100,000. In AA studios, 25% of developers earn less than this amount, while in indie teams it’s already half. <53% of respondents are dissatisfied with their salary size. The EU is going full steam ahead in turning the continent into a cyberpunk dystopia >The new EU rules on cybersecurity: What game developers and publishers need to know https://archive.ph/g5ijV <Against this backdrop, the EU is raising the bar for cybersecurity with two major legislative updates: the NIS2 Directive and the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA). Both are set to have a significant impact on game developers and publishers operating in or selling to the EU. Although game companies must already take into account the requirements under the GDPR to implement appropriate technical and organisational measures in respect of protecting personal data, these new legislative frameworks add a new level of more proscriptive measures. <The NIS2 Directive replaces the original NIS Directive, introducing tougher cybersecurity standards and stricter enforcement. Whether a company falls under NIS2 depends on its size, whether it operates in a sector classified as "essential" or "important" in the Directive, and whether it operates within the EU. Although the games industry is not explicitly listed as "essential" or "important" in the legislation, the key point is that many gaming companies utilise technology (such as cloud computing, content delivery networks, or data centres) that is governed under NIS2, on the basis of which gaming companies might be within the scope of the directive. <If NIS2 does apply, the expectations are clear. In-scope companies must register up-to-date information about their operations and where they offer services with competent authorities. Cybersecurity is no longer just an IT issue; senior management is ultimately responsible for overseeing and approving security measures, and boards must be trained to address cyber risks. This responsibility cannot be outsourced, and breaches may result in management liability, fines, or even temporary bans from management roles. <On the technical side, companies are expected to implement comprehensive measures to manage risks. This includes everything from risk analysis and incident handling to business continuity planning and supply chain security, as well as regular cybersecurity training. Encryption, access controls, and multi-factor authentication are all part of the new baseline. When incidents do occur, companies must act fast – significant breaches require an early warning within 24 hours and a full notification within 72 hours. There is also an expectation of voluntary cooperation in sharing information about threats and vulnerabilities. <The CRA, which came into force in December 2024 with a three-year transition period, sets uniform cybersecurity standards for "products with digital elements." This includes software, hardware and their remote data processing solutions. The CRA is particularly relevant for companies offering physical products with digital elements, such as consoles or connected accessories. Most video games will fall into the "non-important or critical" category, which means a self-assessment of cybersecurity compliance is required, along with security-by-default principles. Higher-risk products, like password managers or network tools, face stricter obligations, including external audits. <Security must now be integrated from the design phase and maintained throughout the product's life cycle. Regular vulnerability testing and timely updates are mandatory, and any identified security vulnerabilities must be reported to the European Union Agency for Cybersecurity (ENISA), especially if they are actively exploited. Non-compliance can lead to substantial fines and administrative sanctions, raising the stakes for companies operating in the EU. Existing products are only subject to the CRA if they undergo substantial modifications, and technical details for product categories are still being finalized by the EU Commission. All I see this as is more reasons why to never give a shit about developing video games for Europe if I'm required to submit my games to the EU government just to release it in that territory. And, time for some LOL Deep down, most people like furries, they just don’t know it yet. Fuga: Melodies of Steel and Aeruta creators talk about the appeal of kemomimi and furries https://archive.ph/jgjof >CyberConnect2 has many staff who are fond of furries, right? <Matsuyama: Yes, everyone says they’ve always liked content with that kind of aesthetic. The reason why they like it tends to come later, it starts with a simple “I like this.” However, they all hide it at first. >So everyone’s first instinct is to hide that they like it? <Matsuyama: Yes, even at our company, people instinctively try to hide that side of themselves, so I think that tendency is even stronger in society at large. <That’s why we need to bring those people, the latent furry lovers, out into the open, including our fanbase. And the catalyst for forming such a community lies in the content we create and the intent behind our promotional efforts, so this is something we need to keep expanding. >You believe that, deep down, everyone has some level of fondness for furries inside them? <Matsuyama: That’s right. >Does that mean even I have the potential to be a furry? <Matsuyama: You do. Most people just haven’t realized it yet. They just don’t know how to put it into words, but when asked directly, they’d probably say, “Now that you mention it, yeah, I do kind of like that.” The reason they haven’t discovered it is that there aren’t many works like that, so they haven’t had the chance to learn about it. But ultimately, we’re all mammals. Every human being has an animal living inside their heart. >You made that last part sound like a proverb or something. <Everyone: (laughs)

>>1314 That just sounds like confirmation bias. Every scenario approves your worldview, even though you just chose two contradicting reasons to support it. I don't believe more anecdotal evidence of this nature is necessary to support any anti-tranny views. They're delusional, simple as that. For the absolutely extreme minority of people with a chemical imbalance in the brain towards the opposite sex's chemical makeup, the solution is to balance the chemicals towards their own genetic sex, not to mutilate their genitals and push their hormones even further in the direction that's causing the problem. For the even more extreme minority of people with weird XXY or XYY mutations, it's a case by case basis, but they're literally mutants, in non-disparaging sense. They're unique problems and the unique solutions to their problems are not an example for anyone else. All other cases outside of these very very rare outliers are grifters or the deluded. >>1315 >For perspective: <National averages You're picking the wrong numbers. You need averages for the areas these jobs usually exist in. It's immensely cheaper to live in rural areas than in the cities where game companies and development studios usually are, and this brings the national average down below what is livable in a lot of major cities. I make well below the national average, but I make very good money for the area I live in, and that lets me live a lot better than people making 10 or 20 more grand a year than me if they live in a city. >All I see this as is more reasons why to never give a shit about developing video games for Europe if I'm required to submit my games to the EU government just to release it in that territory. All I'm seeing is, >Don't fucking make it so sensitive user information can be leaked through network activites of your game or online purchases >If you do allow this to happen, you will be held liable The only non-malware games with security issues like these I've ever seen are triplegaaay shit though. >LOL I'm pretty sure there's confusion there between the Eastern and Western concepts of a furry. Like /a/nons would always say "Kemono isn't furry". While there are Japanese furries similar to western ones, (fursuits, fursonas, angst, garish fur and hair colors, LGBTBBQ faggotry, etc.) they're comparatively rare. Most of Japan's concept of a furry is someone who likes the fluffy cartoon characters, in a similar vein as the Western (American?) push for animal mascots in games and advertising a few decades back.

>>1320 Yep, they're self-entitled alright.
>>1317 >The only non-malware games with security issues like these I've ever seen are triplegaaay shit though. The problem I see with this is: <1. People who use those games and software deserve to get fucked whenever these companies are hacked, especially when people keep posting better alternatives practically all of the time but those people refuse to do anything because they have "nothing important" to steal anyway And ESPECIALLY especially when these companies shouldn't be having all of this information in the first place. <2. And more importantly, there's nothing in the provisions actually detailing that this law applies "exclusively" to networked hardware and services. Call me paranoid, how much of a stretch is it for the EU to begin going after softmodders exploiting vulernabilities and hacking devices despite that practice being exclusive for personal use, and effecting no one else in the slightest? Or even taking things further and worsening the problem by demanding that "all" electronic devices and software now have to have internet capabilities, all on the excuse to "protect" people as how can you keep them "safe" unless they're using the latest up-to-date software and devices that's being monitored 24/7 by some outside entity?

I just hope the dev doesn't listen to feedback too much, because she's a contrarian and will dedicate dev time and toss out planned stories just to spite people. She wasted some time already on a joke ending because people wanting to bang Renee really got under her skin, and the more lovey dovey heavy leaning toward incest route being popular made her go out of her way to post online that "This isn't going to go the way you think it is.".
>Japanese game developers face ridiculously high font license fees following US acquisition of major domestic provider. Live-service games to take the biggest blow https://archive.ph/6a7CO <One of Japan’s most widely used commercial font services has ended its affordable license plan for game and app integration, creating a complicated and expensive issue for domestic game developers. As reported by Gamemakers, the service, called Fontworks LETS, discontinued its game license plan as of November 28. Its replacement, offered through Fontworks’s new US-owned parent company Monotype, comes with an annual price tag more than fifty times higher, according to Game*Spark. <The old LETS plan allowed developers to integrate high-quality Japanese fonts into their game builds for roughly 60,000 yen a year (around USD $380). Under the new Monotype structure (which no longer has local pricing for Japan), a plan that permits game integration is reported to cost $20,500 per year. Even more problematic for developers, the contract includes a 25,000-user cap for applications using provided fonts, which, as Game*Spark points out, is completely unrealistic for most commercial titles nowadays. <It’s also worth noting that in the case of games in Japanese, it’s not so easy for developers to find alternatives. While games using English can rely on system UI fonts, cheap commercial fonts or open-source options, the sheer number of characters used in Japanese means high-quality fonts are extremely difficult and expensive to make, so few affordable alternatives are available. This is what made LETS an important service, but its revamped pricing and limitations have now put it beyond the reach of a good chunk of developers. <The main factor behind this shift appears to be the acquisition of Fontworks by the US-based Monotype in 2023. The LETS program was essentially consolidated into Monotype’s global subscription program in a way that doesn’t seem to be catered to game developers or Japanese-language users at all. <According to Japanese web and UI/UX designer Yamanaka, developers of ongoing live-service games are likely to take the biggest blow from this – even if they switch to licenses provided by competitors, they will be forced to redo integration, the whole QA process and re-release in a very short period of time. Additionally, a change in fonts will mean a change in branding, which means the workload will expand to updating websites, advertisements and other related content. On the other hand, games unable to switch or renew the expensive Monotype license will, according to Game*Spark, likely not be able to update legally. One prominent example of a live-service game using LETS is Fate/Grand Order, which has over ten years’ worth of content. <“This is a little-known issue, but it’s become a huge problem in some circles,” commented Alwei, CEO of development studio Indie-Us Games. According to Alwei, after receiving a hefty quote for renewing their license, their company decided to switch to a competitor’s service called DynaFont. The full impact of this issue is expected to become even more evident throughout 2026, and Japanese developers are hopeful that Monotype will offer a more reasonable solution. >Sega is aware its past “definitive version” releases could be deterring players from buying games at launch https://archive.ph/ZlGHT <Sega Sammy Holdings recently published a summary of a shareholders’ Q&A session that took place during the company’s second quarter financial briefing for the fiscal year ending March 2026. As reported by GameBiz, the Q&A session covered a range of topics, including a sudden drop in sales of catalogue titles (games released during past fiscal years) compared to the previous year, and revenue fluctuations largely impacted by some of Sega’s new full-price and free-to-play titles. Namely, it was brought up that Sega has released a number of critically acclaimed titles in the past couple of years, but despite the positive reception and high praise for their quality, sales performance fell short of expectations. <Addressing the issue, Sega explained that some of the possible causes could be the presence of rival titles in the same genres, as well as the games’ initial pricings. The company also pointed out that players expecting “definitive editions” of games to be released in the future could be what’s making them hesitant to buy the titles at launch. “While we haven’t been able to pinpoint a precise cause of [the lower-than-expected sales performance], we believe the problem also lies in our marketing, which wasn’t able to sufficiently convey the appeal of our games to users,” said Sega’s spokespersons, reassuring investors that they are currently analyzing the problem. <While the underperforming titles in question weren’t specified, players in Japan theorize the “definitive edition” problem could likely be linked to games developed by Atlus. As one of the more recent examples, Shin Megami Tensei V was released in late 2021, and an updated version, Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance, launched in mid-2024, less than 3 years later. This seems to be the standard pattern for many of Atlus’ new releases, including the Persona series. >Tekken's Katsuhiro Harada says the big money of fighting tournaments isn't reflected in game revenue https://archive.ph/aBxD2 https://archive.ph/DmQ5t <“People talked about a golden age of fighting games back in the day, but if you look at the parameters that measure success, whether that’s revenue or copies sold or whatever, there’s actually an increase in the participation of the [genre] as a whole recently,” he says. <“If you look at other things such as these events that we have being streamed and people who are participating, whether they’re average streamers or big influencers. Lots of big companies are coming in and putting money into advertisements for these events, and a lot of influencers are making big money off of their streams. But the revenue for our games doesn’t reflect any of this stuff. It’s quite interesting to see how that might change. For example, most of the tournaments are licensed for free to people who want to run them or stream them. Occasionally you’re seeing certain events that pop up where they’re charging pay-per-view, or something like that. Seeing how the money side of this changes, that’s something I’m quite interested in.” >"AI Is Gonna Eventually Eat Itself... Like When We Fed Cows With Cows And Got Mad Cow Disease" https://archive.ph/x9x10 <Speaking to Virgin Radio UK (thanks, PC Gamer), Houser – who played a pivotal role in making GTA the behemoth it is today during his time at Rockstar – likens the growth of AI to the Mad Cow disease outbreak, which gripped the UK in the 1980s and 1990s: <"I personally don't think it will, because I think that AI is gonna eventually eat itself, because as far as I understand it—which is really superficial—the models scour the internet for information, but the internet's going to get more and more full of information made by the models. So it's sort of like when we fed cows with cows and got mad cow disease." <Houser also has some rather negative things to say about the people who are pushing AI upon the world, even going as far as to say they're a few sandwiches short of a picnic: <"Humanity is being pulled in a direction by a certain group of people, who maybe aren't fully-rounded humans. Some of these people trying to define the future of humanity, creativity, or whatever it is using AI, are not the most humane or creative people. So they're sort of saying, 'We're better at being human than you are.' It's obviously not true."
>>1490 I fucking hate the font industry. It shouldn't even be an industry, and only exists through aggressive copyright jewery. >Sega calling out Atlus's bullshit Nice. Releasing a game that feels like it's clearly missing something, and then releasing a definitive edition relatively quickly later with that something, is just the next step up from cut content DLC. I've always had a strong inkling that they'd be capable of releasing these "definitive" editions extremely close to the original release, and only wait as long as they do for the very reason being outlined here.
>>1490 >>Sega is aware its past “definitive version” releases could be deterring players from buying games at launch Some other anon mentioned this on another board, but since they are talking about PC releases, could it also be that they keep adding Denuvo to their games? >>1515 The part that drives me up the walls, is how people think these problems would be solved through more "regulation" when it's the increasing amounts of regulation that resulted in this situation in the first place. Honestly, how do you expect a lone individual to be able to start up a company, enter in the marketplace, and even have a chance at competing when they need to hire several lawyers to navigate this mess before they even open their doors? And people want more of this? For example, Acid humored the idea of making an 8moe email service, but discovered that such a process would effectively require him to dox the people using the service in order to even get it legally running. Then you have instances like Keonne Rodriguez being sentenced to prison because he made a secure and private Bitcoin wallet: https://odysee.com/@WatchmanPrivacy:1/KeonneRodriguez:6 Even the rise of Uber and Lyft effective showed you have to break the law in order to actually make a business who can compete in the market: https://odysee.com/@johnstossel:7/don%E2%80%99t-ask-permission!:7

>>1518 >>1519 It's not about "regulations good" or "regulations bad", it's about whether the specific regulations are good or bad. If the government is corrupt, the regulations are gonna be bad, they're gonna be anti-competitive, and they're not going to help customers whatsoever. It all comes back to inevitable corruption in government, the only bandaid solution to which I can prescribe is regular purging by revolution. That of course leaves any nation increasingly open to infiltration at the time of revolution by any other large nation at the time, the solution to which is more revolution. Those are your options. Stability for an ever increasing amount of slavery, or chaos as you spend eternity bludgeoning bad actors every generation as you pray to fuck off. To take a middle ground, just revolt in moderation.

>>1540 But that solves nothing. You even said that such a situation only creates a scenario where a nation (Or any territory for that matter) is more vulnerable to revolutionary elements. This is on top of you, seeming to, agree with my point that going full "Not Important" does nothing except make people more reliant upon the government and making things worse as a result. And in a sitation where no government exists, then people will just back whatever warlord comes along and makes things stable. Which is how Napoleon and MaoMao (And arguably Lenin) gained their power. So with that under consideration, perhaps the solution is to NOT go full "Not Important"?
>>1541 >But that solves nothing There is no permanent solution. Yes, which is why you shouldn't do it too often. >This is on top of you, seeming to, agree with my point that going full "Not Important" does nothing except make people more reliant upon the government How does overturning the government make people more reliant on the government?
>>1544 >How does overturning the government make people more reliant on the government? Because you're disrupting their entire life. The government does serve a purpose in providing a stable set of rules that everyone is expected to follow in order for life to function. You remove that element, and things descend into anarchy. Admittedly not all-at-once, as you even see people act autonomously without a government after any and every natural disaster that occurs. But the longer that government lacks a presence, the more things begin to spiral out of control. All before reaching a point that people will trade in whatever freedom is asked just for something in their life that will create stability.
>>1547 >Because you're disrupting their entire life. The government does serve a purpose in providing a stable set of rules that everyone is expected to follow in order for life to function. >>1552 >So it does the opposite of making people more reliant on the government? No, it doesn't. It "does" makes them less reliant upon the current government, but MORE DESIROUS for a different government. Meaning, they still rely upon the government. And any revolutions that happen occurs because people still want a government, though a different form of government. That's not what I'm talking about at all. What I was talking about was that people need to learn to be independent of any and every government. That you're success in life shouldn't be dependent upon if you're living in the extremely free U.S. or the extremely authoritarian West Taiwan under the CCP. That is what I'm talking about when I'm saying people need to realize that no one is coming to save them. Because nothing is going to change about the lives of these people unless they first change themselves. >Unless it's done too often and people then have no choice? No, people always have a choice. >So like I said, revolt in moderation because too frequent revolutions leaves you open to foreign powers. Who said anything about foreign powers getting involved? What's going to happen is that you'll end up like Africa, where the warlords rule and are the government there. Or Europe during the Thirty Years' War, arguably the bloodiest war in history.

The same principles that apply to the entire world regardless of who you are, where you live, and/or what you do. >no practical other choice. No, there is always a choice.
>>1559 >No, there is always a choice. I see you didn't explicitly state it's a practical one, which is my point of contention. So am I to take it you're implying that when people have reached a point that they will trade whatever is asked for stability in order to end the current state of affairs, you consider continuing the anarchy to be a practical choice in their eyes, even though you also outline them as willing to give up anything at that point? That's pretty contradictory. >Except, that's not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about principles that you adhere. The same principles that apply to the entire world regardless of who you are, where you live, and/or what you do. You want people to change their principles to be more self reliant. But when the government is out there fucking everything up, taking responsibility and revolting is just another way to rely on the government in your eyes. But ignoring it also isn't an option when they have their boot to your neck. So what does being self-reliant mean to you? If you can neither stop the government from fucking you by forcibly reforming it, because that's also using the government in the end, nor ignore the government, because they will use their overwhelming resources to crush you if you try to ignore them? What specifically is it you want then?
>>1561 >That's pretty contradictory. It's also dependent on a lot of factors. For example, the scenario you presented of people being invaded by an outside force could be one of the reasons they'd agree to forgoe some of their rights on the justification of dealing with that threat, only to then go back to killing each other once that threat has passed. Then there's also the fact that different people have different limits on how far they will go. Not to mention their responsibilities, if they have any. >But when the government is out there fucking everything up When is the government NOT fucking everything up? >when they have their boot to your neck Why does that matter? Defiance is still an activity. The Communists have spent decades trying to literally beat the religion out of people, with the most infamous case being the Pitesti Prison Experiment in Romania. And the result each and every time is that they can never do it. Perhaps the most widespread example of this happening to a society was MaoMao's Destruction of the Four Olds during the Cultural Revolution. Where despite all that lost history and tradition, the Chinese people still adhered to their beliefs of Taoism, the Mandate of Heaven, Feng shui, and numerous other beliefs. How do you think Falun Gong came into existence, and why it scares the ever-living shit out of the CCP? >So what does being self-reliant mean to you? In short, learning how the system works and taking advantage of it for your own benefit without apology. After all, that's how it works when learning to beat a game. Why is life any different?
>>1564 >When is the government NOT fucking everything up? Some governments are definitely less fucked than others in various ways. Therefore, some of them have to be not fucking everything up at least some of the time, and those parts should be emulated when aiming for a more ideal/less shit government. >China still has religion even though they tried to beat it out of them So? Is the country any better for it? Has simply taking the beating while not giving up their beliefs in their heart made it so that a massive portion of them is no longer living in squalor? >In short, learning how the system works and taking advantage of it for your own benefit without apology. After all, that's how it works when learning to beat a game. Why is life any different? Sounds like bucket crap mentality. Life isn't a "game" because the joys and suffering of others are real. This is the kind of thing Africans and Pajeets think when they don't understand that lying and cheating is morally wrong, instead thinking that it's getting caught that is morally wrong. Failure to game the system is what's wrong, and all other actions including rape and murder are permissible and moral so long as the system doesn't manage to punish you for it. Life isn't a videogame. Another way to see this statement is similar to the belief that if everyone just selfishly persues their own goals, suddenly you'll only be left with hyper-competent people that make society work, Ayn Rand/Atlas Shrugged style. The problem is, you can learn how the system works all you want, but the people with the most power decide how the system works and will mold it to benefit them, not the general populace and not you unless you worm your way into power with them by hook and crook. That seems to be the mentality of a lot of people that are anti-regulation in general, instead of just anti-bad regulations. They don't want to limit the power of the ultra rich via government regulations because they believe one day they may be ultra rich. So they campaign on deregulation in general, but the only regulations removed are those left that prevent the big boys from gaining more power, not those stopping small businesses from flourishing.
>>1565 >Is the country any better for it? Yeah. By all accounts, the introduction of Falun Gong improved a lot of people's lives. And it's for that exact reason it began scaring the CCP and why it's now practically "outlawed", because it made the people no longer reliant upon them for their prosperity. >Life isn't a "game" Yes, it is. >This is the kind of thing Africans and Pajeets think when they don't understand that lying and cheating is morally wrong No, they know it's morally wrong, they just don't care. >The problem is, you can learn how the system works all you want, but the people with the most power decide how the system works and will mold it to benefit them And this is where the hypocrisy starts and thus the fun begins! Because you try to say that regulation is "good" when it harms companies (Because, somehow, all companies are "evil" by the very nature of them being a company), but then turn around and declare that the regulations only exist to further entrench power (Kind of like how Nintendo practically pleaded that the American government regulate games just to destroy Sega). And this conversation is going to go absolutely fucking nowhere, waste all of our time, and you're going to walk away screaming that I'm a stupid ignorant LOLbertarian who just doesn't "get it".
>>1567 >Yeah. By all accounts, the introduction of Falun Gong improved a lot of people's lives. And it's for that exact reason it began scaring the CCP and why it's now practically "outlawed", because it made the people no longer reliant upon them for their prosperity. A quick search on that new faith says it's power has declined greatly since it was outlawed. Seems like turning the other cheek didn't really work. Sure, it still exists, but it's people still suffer in the same squalor much of China does and are put to work in labor camps nearly 40 years later since its initial rise. >Because you try to say that regulation is "good" when it harms companies Now there's you putting words in my mouth. I said it was good when it limits the powers of the ultra rich. That is, when it places limits upon those with otherwise unchecked power. Kind of like how the US government was originally designed to attempt to keep itself in check with the different branches. You're expanding that down to small businesses. >but then turn around and declare that the regulations only exist to further entrench power When the government is corrupt enough, yes.
>>1567 >And this conversation is going to go absolutely fucking nowhere, waste all of our time, and you're going to walk away screaming that I'm a stupid ignorant LOLbertarian who just doesn't "get it". Also, this sounds like projection. Just swap "lolbert" for whatever it is you want to call me.
>>1568 >new faith says it's power has declined greatly since it was outlawed You're trusting that people won't lie on a poll when expressing an "unpopular opinion", especially when random people you don't know go knocking door-to-door and begin asking personal questions? >it's people still suffer in the same squalor much of China does You can argue the same thing or worse about America. I actually have driven to many of the undeveloped regions of my state, and they're in even worse condition than they were 50 years ago (When many places didn't even have running water). >I said it was good when it limits the powers of the ultra rich Why do you care so much about the "ultra rich"? Even more, what makes someone "ultra rich"? Do you mean someone like Elon Musk and Warren Buffet, two of the wealthiest people in the world? What about Amancio Ortega? What did they ever do to you? >When the government is corrupt enough, yes. That's not how it works. Either regulation is good, or regulations is bad. That's it. Thus far, your argument boils down to the falacy: <No bad tactics, only bad targets >>1569 >whatever it is you want to call me Okay, you're a Communist.
>>1570 >You're trusting that people won't lie on a poll You're assuming the specific method by which the estimates were gathered. These numbers are an estimate by sources outside of China going against the CCP's stated numbers. But that's besides the point. They're still under the heel of the government. The main point stands. >You can argue the same thing or worse about America. So? They haven't overturned the government since things started to get really shitty either. This supports my point. >Why do you care so much about the "ultra rich"? Even more, what makes someone "ultra rich"? Do you mean someone like Elon Musk and Warren Buffet, two of the wealthiest people in the world? What about Amancio Ortega? What did they ever do to you? <What did the poor innocent megacorps do to you? Look, let me give one a face to sympathize with! Generally, they all lobby and mold the system(s) in their interests, regardless of whether it's good or bad for soceity in general. Exactly what you say they should do, regardless of the morality of such actions. Power attracts corruption. It's the nature of the world. Placing limits on the power any one person or organization can help prevent you from being ruled by those who would snowball resources in short order without you ever having a real say. Of course, this is giving some amount of power to the government, who will also abuse it given time, so occasional revolt is necessary. >That's not how it works. Either regulation is good, or regulations is bad. That's it This is a false dichotomy. But if you want to be ruled by whoever has the most money at the time even though you're ostensibly supposed to be in a representative democratic republic, less power to you then. >Okay, you're a Communist. There it is. Everyone who doesn't go to your extreme must be the other extreme. A man who could turn "dismantling the government when it steps on you" into "relying on the government" has enough rhetorical talent to paint anything he disagrees with as his worst enemy. You're a parody of your own beliefs. Saying that any and all regulation is bad makes you, as the "communists" would paint you, someone who thinks "when the government does something, that's communism". All you're doing is submitting yourself to different tyrant over which you have even less influence.
>>1573 >These numbers are an estimate by sources outside of China going against the CCP's stated numbers The numbers which people make a point that they're underestimated due to West Taiwan being such a black box when it comes to desired info? >They're still under the heel of the government Then why does the CCP need to have all those laws outlawing the practice if they're surely under the government's control? >This supports my point. The point that you're arguing against, that people prefer stability over revolutions? >Generally, they all lobby and mold the system(s) in their interests And regular people don't do that? >Placing limits on the power any one person or organization can help prevent you from being ruled by those who would snowball resources in short order without you ever having a real say You do realize that happens both ways, right? Beause who's watching the Watchers? Hell, Labor Unions are a prime example of corrupt elements taking over groups that exist in the name of "the people", as they take a group who exists to limit the power of companies and use it to exploit anyone and everyone else. To the extent that some states have laws, after the Unions lobbied for it, declaring that you cannot find ANY work unless you join a Union. Also, you never actually said what it is that those three people I listed off have ever actually done to you, even as an adjacent action. All you're doing is presenting a class warfare argument, trying to brand a certain group as being "evil" just by them existing and what they COULD be doing. You haven't actually named a specific company or person who's doing the very thing you're talking about. And I suspect that you won't because then the argument stops being about class warfare and becomes about you're own actions. For example, if you were to bring up some of the things people like Bill Gates or Zuckerberg have done, then the argument becomes about how you should stop using Microsoft and Meta products and services then. An action that you, as a person, are able to take part in as there are other products and services out there. But that cannot "certainly" be the answer because (1) you like those products and are never going to stop using them even if to make a point, and (2) it doesn't stop people from being "evil" in the first place. And once you reach that argument, you expose that it was never actually about the regulations or the money or even the lobbying. All the argument was EVER about is that you want to be the Thought Police. >But if you want to be ruled by whoever has the most money at the time Who says that's taking place? >Saying that any and all regulation is bad Because it is, regulations only ever exist as an obstacle. >All you're doing is submitting yourself to different tyrant over which you have even less influence You really don't know how companies operate, do you? But then again, you don't tend to care about all the ways people can become personally involved in a company's operations, and influence it's activity. Because that would actually take some fucking work. And it's MUCH easier to bitch and moan about how everyone more wealthy than you is "evil" simply by the very nature of them having more money (And options), and not doing the exact thing that YOU think they "should" be doing with that money. Which is giving it to you, because even all the philanthropic fluff they do is still "evil" because you're not the one directly benefitting from money. This is not even mentioning how you have zero concept of simple principles like FUCKING TIME, as you think any and every action that takes place must turn on a dime and have a result by the end of the afternoon. Which sort of shows that you have never done anything as simple as raise and care for a fucking plant. Did I miss anything?
>>1575 >The numbers which people make a point that they're underestimated due to West Taiwan being such a black box when it comes to desired info? They're estimated around 10 million. They used to be estimated around 70 million. If both are underestimations anyways, then it's still a decline. This is the kind of argument lefites make about rape and violence against women in Japan being lower, whereby they pretend it must be higher because "actually the numbers are just under-reported because of the culture, they're totally worse than things are over here in our more 'progressive' society" even though they make that same claim of under-reporting and underestimating everywhere. >Then why does the CCP need to have all those laws outlawing the practice if they're surely under the government's control? <If they have boot to their neck, why does the government need to wear that boot? >The point that you're arguing against, that people prefer stability over revolutions? The point that without revolutions things will keep getting shittier. How many governments in a state of severe corruption making life shit for their citizens have bounced back to a state of prosperity without such severe measures that interrupt stability? >And regular people don't do that? They lack the means. The power. The physical and financial resources to make meaningful changes to the system from within its rules. The most politically active tend to just be supporting someone else with more power. >You do realize that happens both ways, right? Yes, I said as much. When you give someone power to limit the power of others, eventually that power too will be abused. >then the argument becomes about how you should stop using Microsoft and Meta products and services then Easy to say on an individual level. But as a group, people will not change the software ecosystems they use en-masse unless the existing ones become unusuable, even if it fucks them in the long term. I've already cut out Microshit myself, but I can't cut out Faceberg without first convincing all the people I know who use Faceberg Messenger to also use an alternative messaging app, which also happens to be everyone I know outside of work. The only true alternative in many cases when dealing giants that have huge marketshare like that is to sew your eyes, zip your mouth, and live in a cave. Sure, you can use some niche alternative software, but you also lose access to the wider world of people that way, crippling you while the rest of the world embraces the enshittification by software giants like Microsoft and Facebook. >All the argument was EVER about is that you want to be the Thought Police. Big moral position to take from the guy who thinks you should use and abuse systems as much as possible and without regard to morality, unless someone uses and abuses the system to make things work in a way that even hints of communism because that would be evil and immoral, which some of the powers that be definitely are. >Who says that's taking place? Me as I watch chain stores move into my local shopping areas, drive local businesses out of business because they offer lower prices and can take a loss on the store for years with the massive resources they've accumulated, and then raise the prices even higher once all the local competition is dead. The result being I have to pay way more for tons of shit. Hitting me right in my bottom line. But I suppose I should just take it up the ass instead of pushing the system to work in a way that benefits me like you said, because Walmart is also pushing the system in a way that benefits them, and they're a business, and doing anything to hinder a business is regulation and regulations are evil. Monopolies and oligopolies are just playing the game well. >Because it is, regulations only ever exist as an obstacle. An obstacle to what? Laws in general are by definition obstacles. So I guess laws are bad and murder should be legal. >You really don't know how companies operate, do you? If they have shareholders, then whatever is the most profitable, and that's not always, and in fact often isn't, in the best interest of their customers. Like insurance, whereby the most profitable way to run the business is denying as many claims as possible so many of your customers end up paying for nothing even misfortune does strike them. >Did I miss anything? You forgot to call me a communist again. And also rescind your prediction that I would huff and puff and run away screaming because I think you "just don't get it". Funny you first made that prediction in the same post you started redtexting, and now are repeatedly accusing me of "just not getting it".
>>1578 >The point that without revolutions things will keep getting shittier And is there any guarentee that things WON'T be worse if a revolution DOES take place? >How many governments in a state of severe corruption making life shit for their citizens have bounced back to a state of prosperity without such severe measures that interrupt stability? And how many of those governments have actually lasted longer than a century? >They lack the means No, they don't. And you just admitted that it's the same shit, but from a different animal. >When you give someone power to limit the power of others, eventually that power too will be abused. So the solution is to create a scenario were there are as few centralized measures as possible to control what people personally do. A concept completely opposed to what you're suggesting, as it would ALSO mean no centralized government agency is regulting businesses. >Easy to say on an individual level No, it's not. Have you ever tried switching operating systems? Hell, just change the system language on your phone. >But as a group... And there we go again. You proceed to deflect about how something is "impossible" on the excuse "Well, someone else" is doing it. Like how niggers justify stealing from someone's house because, "Well, this other guy was stealing stuff and got away with it." Just because "someone else" is doing something doesn't mean you have to do it. >Big moral position to take from the guy who thinks you should use and abuse systems as much as possible and without regard to morality Except I never said that last bit. >Me as I watch chain stores move into my local shopping areas, drive local businesses out of business because they offer lower prices That's not how it works. Are you still supporting those local businesses, or are you playing the part of the lemming as you proceed to go where the price is lower? >An obstacle to what? Doing business >If they have shareholders, then whatever is the most profitable That's not how it works and you know jackshit about running a business. Thank you for confirming that.

>>1578 >>1582 In fact, let me show you just how much you know jack about running a business. Pics are the financials for the past few years of three companies. Which company do you think has the highest stock price?
>>1582 >And is there any guarentee that things WON'T be worse if a revolution DOES take place? Is there any guarantee things will get better if it doesn't? >And how many of those governments have actually lasted longer than a century? Not many, which may show that a democratic republic is a more enduring form of government, but there are other factors to be accounted for, natural resources, the geography of the coast, the changing climate of world politics. A great many things can contribute to the rise and fall of a nation. Regardless of those factors though, the same or similar form of government would be a good bet for the future. >No, they don't. Go ahead, vote with your wallet. Other people will vote with their much bigger wallet. Including people that aren't even from your nation. >So the solution is to create a scenario were there are as few centralized measures as possible to control what people personally do. That just creates a power vacuum that will soon be filled. >A concept completely opposed to what you're suggesting, as it would ALSO mean no centralized government agency is regulting businesses. Without this, businesses will just keep growing and quickly monopolies will form, that will also control what people do. You can't live with government, but you can't live without it. Barring going innawoods and forsaking society that is. >Have you ever tried switching operating systems? Yeah, it was a bit of a headache, but using Windows was also quickly becoming a bit of a headache. >You proceed to deflect about how something is "impossible" on the excuse "Well, someone else" is doing it. Where did I say doing the thing I've already done is impossible? Putting words in my mouth again to suit your arguments? I'm saying it's not going happen en-masse, which you seem to agree with when you said <No, it's not. Have you ever tried switching operating systems? >Except I never said that last bit. <learning how the system works and taking advantage of it for your own benefit without apology So I should apologize for taking advantage of the system for my own benefit? Getting mixed signals here. >That's not how it works. Are you still supporting those local businesses, or are you playing the part of the lemming as you proceed to go where the price is lower? It is how it works. My individual boycott of Wallshart has no effect on their bottom line. The boycott of me and everyone else I can convince, which won't be many, is still insignificant. They set up these stores expecting to run them at loss for up to several years if necessary. People will shop where there's a better deal. Generally thinking about the long term effects of where you shop is for the upper middle and upper classes who have much more disposable income. The lower middle and lower classes will still shop wherever they can afford, and with the increasingly low buying power the dollar has, that's going to mean invasive chain stores. >Doing business So? Laws are an obstacle to doing certain things. That's their purpose. If you want a lawless world, just say so. >>1583 >Which company do you think has the highest stock price? There are other factors at play. A company with bad financials could end up with high stocks through market manipulation.
>>1586 >Is there any guarantee things will get better if it doesn't? Yes, because I at least know the devil that I'm dealing with. >businesses will just keep growing and quickly monopolies will form, that will also control what people do No, they won't. In fact, if you actually bother to look up what happened in the past, all the bitching about "robber barons" and "trusts" was mostly fake news, generated by media companies who were in bed with the ACTUAL monopolies in the market and printed story-after-story about how the seas will boil, Hell will freeze over, and cats and dogs will begin to live together if you allow those "evil robber barons" to operate in the market. I guess it goes to show that the propaganda worked since people still repeat those falsities to this very day. >So I should apologize for taking advantage of the system for my own benefit? No, but there's still a sportmanship about it. >My individual boycott of Wallshart has no effect on their bottom line It does effect the bottom line of the small business that you're bitching about that closed, since you're so fucking selfish and short-sited that you'd rather trap yourself rather than keep your options open as to where you can shop. >People will shop where there's a better deal. Or where the service and products are better. For example, I don't buy gasoline from Costco despite it being the lowest price in town. Instead, I go to one of the Good 2 Go stations and spend anywhere from 50 cents to a dollar more per galon. Why? Well, first, they are one of two chains who sell ethanol free gasoline (Which is much cleaner for cars to burn, doesn't corode the engine as quickly, and lasts longer) and, second, their affiliation with Phillips 66 means that any of the money I spend there eventually makes it's way back to me when I receive my dividend from owning Phillips 66 stock. Another example is how I specifically choose which stores I buy my games from because, while I can find other local stores that often have a similar or lower price on a game, I prefer to go to one specific store due to the reputation and relationship that I have with the store's owner and will proceed to spend (Sometimes more) money there because I want his business to continue and like the service he provides. You're telling me that no one, not even yourself, are capable of doing that when it comes to having standards? That all you see is a so-called "better deal", and act like a crazed baboon because it's "ten cents less" at the store run by the person who you hate and know will eventually screw you over. >Generally thinking about the long term effects of where you shop is for the upper middle and upper classes No, it's a conscious decision that EVERYONE is responsible for and capable of making. I'm poor as fuck, yet even I still go out of my way to avoid ever using Amazon when I need to order something. >The lower middle and lower classes will still shop wherever they can afford That's now how it works. If you want something bad enough, you'll find a way to afford it. Have you ever noticed how even fucking hobos somehow have the latest several-hundred dollar iPhone? Not to mention all the endless jokes about how niggers and trailer-park trash will have the latest and most expensive tech, yet they're practically living out of a motorhome. Hell, that even describes my fucking aunt. >A company with bad financials could end up with high stocks through market manipulation. That's not how it works.

>>1601 >Yes, because I at least know the devil that I'm dealing with. Sounds like battered woman syndrome. >No, they won't. In fact, if you actually bother to look up what happened in the past Monopolies didn't happen when there were no or less regulations, and were fake news spread by, the existing monopolies at the time? Are you sure that's what you wanted to say? >No, but there's still a sportmanship about it. So, you don't want to trust the government to behave under threat of revolution, but you expect corporations to behave and be sportsmanlike out of the goodness of their heart? No, they will do everything in their power to grow their power, without apology, just as you say they should. >It does effect the bottom line of the small business that you're bitching about that closed Not if I can't convince enough people to also shop there where the deals are worse. To say nothing of the other tactics a larger multi-national corp might use, like making deals with suppliers to cut off local competition from the goods and materials they need. >Or where the service and products are better. You know that isn't always the case. And what's to stop a chain store from providing better products and better prices until the businesses around them fail? Usually they already do that to a degree by virtue of providing a variety of products that don't exist in the local market before they show up. Well good for you, since you can afford that, and even more, can afford to buy stocks. Any more advice to give from your ivory tower? >No, it's a conscious decision that EVERYONE is responsible for and capable of making. I'm poor as fuck, yet even I still go out of my way to avoid ever using Amazon when I need to order something. You really, really, don't sound like a poorfag, considering what you just said before this. And if you're posting here, with this much knowledge on the subject, you certainly aren't a youngfag. If you're in your late 20s and early 30s, and are still "poor as fuck", then I don't think your mantra has been working for you very well. As your vid says, the conditions of those at the bottom should be improving. And not a glacial pace of a pittance per decade. >Have you ever noticed how even fucking hobos somehow have the latest several-hundred dollar iPhone? You underestimate the price of iPhones, seem to forget that hipsters like to dress as hobos and even beg for money despite not being poor, seem to forget about stolen and jailbroken devices, seem to forget about used devices, et cetera. >Not to mention all the endless jokes about how niggers and trailer-park trash will have the latest and most expensive tech, yet they're practically living out of a motorhome. Hell, that even describes my fucking aunt. Luxuries have become cheaper. Living has become more expensive. I could buy a 55'' "smart" TV for under 300 bucks and a decent brand new phone for another 200-300. But that wouldn't cover rent in the area I live, and rent here is below the national average. Hell, that total is less than half the price of the median rent in my state. The things to get onto poor people about having are fancy cars. But with little exception for the more well off people I know, Most of everyone I know drives some old beat up thing they have to fix up themselves. Not to mention if you are homeless and want to find a job, having a phone number and the ability to apply to jobs online is a Godsend. Getting a smart device by any means necessary is a good investment for someone trying to get out of poverty like that. Not that not having a home address, or possibly even a vehicle isn't also massive hurdle. >That's not how it works. GameStop. Are you just pretending to be retarded? Lecturing about how I just don't get it, and then pretending a stock prices can't easily be divorced from profitability? On a videogame board? After GameStonks happened?
>>1603 >Monopolies didn't happen when there were no or less regulations No, they did happen, they were just much easier to topple because of a lack of regulation. That's why they had to default to the media to do their dirty work, because the government was too slow. >but you expect corporations to behave and be sportsmanlike out of the goodness of their heart No, for their survival. Companies who waste their time trying to screw over, not only their customers but, their rivals are heading toward a path of destruction. Because then they have no one to compete with, they stagnate, and are eventually replaced when someone with an original idea comes along with a better business model. >To say nothing of the other tactics a larger multi-national corp might use, like making deals with suppliers to cut off local competition from the goods and materials they need. Even Micky D's and their evil Golden Arches doesn't pull that shit because it's a tactic that guarentees that they'll lose money. Again, actually name a specific company who pulls that shit. Which, now that I think about it, you never actually did for the other stuff I asked about. >And what's to stop a chain store from providing better products and better prices until the businesses around them fail? Again, can you name a specific company who does this? While Walmart is famous for their lower prices, everyone knows that it is due to their products being of lower quality. Even Amazon sells low-quality shit. So can you name a company who is offering better quality products at lower costs for the expressed purpose of driving out the competition? >Usually they already do that to a degree by virtue of providing a variety of products that don't exist in the local market before they show up. So they're providing people with shit they don't need, and haven't needed? That's your argument? That's a stupid business model because if your customers didn't need your trash in the first place, then they have zero reason to go to your store. Even then, where are they going to get the products to fill the rest of their store with when the cheapest option is to source locally, and the local farmers don't like big companies trying to destroy their customers (The local stores). >Well good for you, since you can afford that You're saying it's a "good thing" that I can afford gasoline, in the modern world where having a car is a requirement? >and even more, can afford to buy stocks You really have no idea of saving money, do you? Or how cheap and easy stocks even are. I'm living on less than $25k for the past five years, with 5% of that money going towards investments. If I can figure that shit out, so can other people. What's your excuse? >If you're in your late 20s and early 30s, and are still "poor as fuck", then I don't think your mantra has been working for you very well. Why is it always this fucking run around? That you constantly bitch and moan about how "everyone" is trying to take advantage of you throughs some "get rich quick" scheme, and then whine when people reveal that there is no "get rich quick" scheme when it comes to getting ahead. It's not the world's problem that you're so fucking lazy and self-entitled that you think you can somehow get ahead in life without putting in some amount of effort. >As your vid says, the conditions of those at the bottom should be improving. In a lot of ways, it has. How many people could afford a cellphone 30 years ago? Hell, you can even find a decent used car for only a few grand. >You underestimate the price of iPhones, seem to forget that hipsters like to dress as hobos and even beg for money despite not being poor, seem to forget about stolen and jailbroken devices, seem to forget about used devices, et cetera. You seem to forget that shit still costs a lot of money. And if they can afford that, then what else are they capable of affording but refuse to do so? >I could buy a 55'' "smart" TV for under 300 bucks and a decent brand new phone for another 200-300. But that wouldn't cover rent in the area I live You're attempting to argue that you have $600 to spend on luxuries, but absolutely cannot spend that $600 on your rent instead? Or even something else that could go towards improving your future? Hell, you could spend that $600 buying stock for B&G Foods, see an annual dividend of $100, on top letting it ride on the options market which only increases your return (Where, at worst, you'll just have to buy it back) >and the ability to apply to jobs online is a Godsend. You do know that every single local lbirary has an entire row of computers free for public use, right? >Getting a smart device by any means necessary is a good investment for someone trying to get out of poverty like that. You're argument would be correct if they were using the cheap-ass $80 Nokia smartphones, like the one I use for work and spend $15 every two months on to have service. Not the latest and greatest Samsungs and iPhones. >GameStop A once-in-a-lifetime event that didn't even last a year from start to finish? One which the Ledditors have attempted to replciate a handful of times since and it never happened again. You're proving my point that you don't know jack about the markets or making money.
>>1604 >No, they did happen, they were just much easier to topple because of a lack of regulation. That's why they had to default to the media to do their dirty work, because the government was too slow. They were easier to topple, except the power they had enabled them to control the media and further cement their power? Doesn't sound like they were so easy to topple. >No, for their survival. Companies who waste their time trying to screw over, not only their customers but, their rivals are heading toward a path of destruction. Because then they have no one to compete with, they stagnate, and are eventually replaced when someone with an original idea comes along with a better business model. Not if they use their power to crush any up and coming competition. That's the basics of laissez-faire business. Once you reach the top, you gotta learn how to keep it. And yes, they still do that now through bad regulations, because the government is corrupt and in their pocket. But that's the roundabout way of doing it. Doing it directly without any of the few good regulations left to impede them is more efficient if they're allowed to. >Even Micky D's and their evil Golden Arches doesn't pull that shit because it's a tactic that guarentees that they'll lose money Why would they lose money? Companies love trying to buy out their suppliers so they don't have to negotiate a deal with them, and can set the rules for their competition. Often it's illegal because of regulations, but not always. >So can you name a company who is offering better quality products at lower costs for the expressed purpose of driving out the competition? Walmart has started pushing Better Goods branded products alongside their Great Value branded products. Both are cheaper than local fare, but one is slightly more expensive than other and higher quality. >So they're providing people with shit they don't need, and haven't needed Or things they used to have to order with a high shipping price, or things they used to have to go out of town or out of state for. Also, if people only bought things they needed, videogames would not exist. Oh look, Walmart sells games and GameStop is perpetually dying. >Even then, where are they going to get the products to fill the rest of their store with when the cheapest option is to source locally, and the local farmers don't like big companies trying to destroy their customers (The local stores). That's the rub. Big chain stores can ship from elsewhere and avoid the cheapest option if they get stonewalled, because as I've said repeatedly, with their large pool of resources, they can run new stores at a loss for years to beat out the competition. Further, many farmers these days tend to be perpetually in debt due to the oligopoly and price fixing on large farm equipment, and will generally sell to whoever they possible can in order to not go bankrupt. >You're saying it's a "good thing" that I can afford gasoline, in the modern world where having a car is a requirement? You can afford to pick and choose pricier gas. You're being intentionally obtuse here. In fact, you may have been doing that the whole time and I'm just being trolled. >I'm living on less than $25k for the past five years Damn, you suck at life for someone who thinks he's got it all figured out. I've gone up over $10 an hour working at a "small" business in the last four years. I don't think your philosophy is really panning out for you. >That you constantly bitch and moan about how "everyone" is trying to take advantage of you throughs some "get rich quick" scheme, and then whine when people reveal that there is no "get rich quick" scheme when it comes to getting ahead. People used to be able to buy houses in their late 20s. Now they're waiting until their 40s just to get a loan they can't pay off until they retire. And that number is rising. I didn't say you should be rich in five years, but clearly you're not moving forward if after 5 years of supposed good financial behavior you're still "poor as fuck." Maybe try pulling your bootstraps a little harder? >In a lot of ways, it has. How many people could afford a cellphone 30 years ago? Like I said, many luxuries have gotten much cheaper, while many necesseties have gotten more expensive, like housing, food, electricity, large appliances. Though phones have in recent decades fallen in the middle between luxury and necessity. >You seem to forget that shit still costs a lot of money. And if they can afford that, then what else are they capable of affording but refuse to do so? You conveniently ignored all the ways they can get one for less than full price I outlined, and furthermore, the full price of a brand new iphone that will last you a minimum of three years is 800-1100 bucks, before tax. It's about, or less than, a month's rent. And the poorer people I know with "new" iphones got theirs for around 300 bucks and are generation or two behind. I'm really beginning to doubt your claims that every bum on the street has a new $1000 phone. It's not just that it would require poor spending habits, it's a good way to get mugged, which actual homeless people will be doing everything to avoid. Hell, in Bongistan, mud muggers have started exclusively mugging people with brand new iphones. >You're attempting to argue that you have $600 to spend on luxuries, but absolutely cannot spend that $600 on your rent instead? Those luxuries will last for years, and are half the price of rent. Rent must be paid over and over again every month. Saving an extra half a month's rent to spend on a TV or a phone, once every 3 to 5 years, sometimes even 10 years if they don't break, is less than a drop in the bucket. Not buying those cheap luxuries, which are only bought very infrequently, will not have any tangible effect on a person's overall finances. It's day-to-day spending where most saving and scimping is to be done with any moderate effect. Which is why people shop at Walmart. >$100 a year Oh boy, in a decade that might snowball with incremental re-investments enough to still not afford the rising price of a single month's rent. >You do know that every single local lbirary has an entire row of computers free for public use, right? Or instead of only being able to play the job gacha for a limited time of day in a single location, you can do it anywhere at any time, vastly improve how much you can spin the numbers. If you don't get a brand new phone, you can get a used one for under $200 bucks and vastly improve your ability to find a job. Libraries don't solve the issue of needing a phone number people can contact you at, and you can check emails immediately when they show up if you have a phone. Homeless people have actually been kicked out of libraries more and more often lately, and public libraries in general are on the decline. >A once-in-a-lifetime event Oh yeah, I forgot that no other cases of stock manipulation have happened in the last 80 years.
>>1605 >Those luxuries will last for years, and are half the price of rent. Rent must be paid over and over again every month. Saving an extra half a month's rent to spend on a TV or a phone, once every 3 to 5 years, sometimes even 10 years if they don't break, is less than a drop in the bucket Or to let me put it another way. If you've fallen on hard times and can't afford rent, selling your phone isn't going to get you anywhere. It's definitely not going to buy you another month of rent. I could sell every luxury item I own, my monitors, my computer and perpherals, my television, my fan, my phone for a cheaper used one, what little furniture I have, and all the other little junk I've been given for free over the years since I don't buy much else, and it would net me maybe two or three months rent around here. Everything I've bought over the last 10 years for a little more time in a crappy apartment.
>>1605 >>1606 >You're being intentionally obtuse here. >Damn, you suck at life for someone who thinks he's got it all figured out. >I didn't say you should be rich in five years, but clearly you're not moving forward if after 5 years of supposed good financial behavior you're still "poor as fuck." >You conveniently ignored all the ways they can get one for less than full price >Oh boy, in a decade that might snowball with incremental re-investments enough to still not afford the rising price of a single month's rent. Okay, so I should be doing the same exact thing that you're doing? Buying from Wally World and Amazon because they have the "best deals" in town, even though I know those places are evil? Buying the cheapest gas even though it's going to destroy my car because it's the wrong type but at least I'm "saving money"? Spending $600 on items I don't need but can afford because I just happened to have a little extra spending money left over this month? Buying items that I DO need but are still several hundred dollars more than another item that does the same exact thing, but at least I'm not paying "full price" for it? Bitching about how the system is broken and keeping me down as I proceed to do the same exact thing everyone else is doing and wondering why nothing ever changes about my life? And eventually come to the conclusion that it's the world that needs to change and not myself?
>>1617 >Okay, so I should be doing the same exact thing that you're doing? Buying from Wally World and Amazon because they have the "best deals" in town I can't convince my family not to shop at Walmart and drag me with them at times, but I generally buy most food stuffs at Aldi's, which isn't publicly traded, though still is an international business. >Buying the cheapest gas even though it's going to destroy my car Why does your car have such special gas needs? When I was a kid, my family drove a cheap beat up car for 15 years on nothing but the cheapest gas around. If you have to pay more for gas just because the very cheapest car you could find needs that pricey gas, you're probably losing money in the long run that way. >Spending $600 on items I don't need but can afford because I just happened to have a little extra spending money left over this month? Try a little extra spending money leftover this three years or so. If you can't afford $600 bux for minor long lasting luxuries in a three to five year period, you're fucking destitute. How can you be that poor for half a decade and think you're on the right financial track? >Bitching about how the system is broken and keeping me down as I proceed to do the same exact thing everyone else is doing and wondering why nothing ever changes about my life? But my life is getting better? Slowly but surely, I have a career and I'm moving foward. You seem to be under the impression that only people at the very bottom begging for handouts are the ones who can see how life is deteriorating for the lower classes. >And eventually come to the conclusion that it's the world that needs to change and not myself? You think the world needs to change too though? You want to make all regulations go away. People in power are doing things you think are bad (supporting any regulations whatsoever). They learned how the system works and are taking advantage of it for their own benefit without apology.
>>1627 >Why does your car have such special gas needs? EVERY car in existence has special gas needs!!! Unless your running on diesel, every vehicle requires pure gasoline. With different cars requiring that gas to have different octane ratings (You can see what's required for your vehicle in it's manual). However, that's now what I'm talking about. What I am refering to in regards to buying gas that will destroy my car is in reference to ETHANOL. For the past 50 years, gasoline companies have been incentivized by the government to pursue "green fuels", the most lobbied of which by the environmentalists being ethanol. And the result that we have today is that anywhere from 10%-15% of the gasoline we buy from the average pump is ethanol. Why is that a problem? Well, here's the short list. First, ethanol is an insane pollutant. Despite all the claims about it being a "green" fuel due to it being made from corn, actually burning it as a fuel (Like in a car) causes far more toxic pollutants to enter the air. Even leaded gasoline cames nowhere close in terms of being so poisonous. Second, ethanol burns quicker. Meaning that instead of getting, say, 400 miles on a single tank of pure gasoline, the ethanol mix is instead leaving you with 350 miles for a single tank. Third, cars are not designed to burn ethanol. The big advantage that diesel engines have of gasoline engines is that diesel engines are basically designed to burn practically anything and everything you put in the tank, from vegetable oil to liquor. That's not the case with your average gasoline engine as it's specifically designed to consome petroluem-based fuels (Remember what I said earlier about octane ratings?). So if you begin to put the "wrong fuel" in your car, what do you think's going to happen? This is in addition to, again, how filthy it is to burn, and how your car is the one required to filter all that shit out. So the short story is that, unless you buy ethanol-free gasoline, you're filling your car up with fuel it isn't designed to burn, that will require your vehicle to receive maintenance much more often from using the incorrect fuel, and is much more harmful for the air quality that you and everyone else are breathing. And if you want to know why it's so much less expensive than the pure gas, it's because of the government subsidies designed to keep the corn industry alive, the same subsidies that caused corn-syrup to be a fucking problem in the first place. >But my life is getting better? Slowly but surely, I have a career and I'm moving foward. Then why are you adovcating that everyone else throw that all away for a pointless revolution that may not even improve anything, and has a far more likely chance of making things worse? >You think the world needs to change too though? I WOULD like for some things to change, but I also know there's a fat chance of it happening. >They learned how the system works and are taking advantage of it for their own benefit without apology. Not really considering how just about every government is fucking broke, and they're scrambling around trying to find the next magic formula that will save their asses. In the 90's, it was the internet. In the Aughts, that was the Forever Wars in the Middle East. In the 2010's, it was mass migration. For this decade that is the 2020's, it's AI. And for the next decade, it will be something else.
>>1632 >Second, ethanol burns quicker. Meaning that instead of getting, say, 400 miles on a single tank of pure gasoline, the ethanol mix is instead leaving you with 350 miles for a single tank. Sorry, I should have read more closely. Getting better mileage makes it effectively cheaper gas, even if the pricetag is higher. >And if you want to know why it's so much less expensive than the pure gas, it's because of the government subsidies designed to keep the corn industry alive, the same subsidies that caused corn-syrup to be a fucking problem in the first place. I can agree with you that subsidies are pretty much never good. For instance, farmers keep recieving subsidies to keep the industry from collapsing. But they only need those subsidies because of the price gouging by the equipment manufacturers. So really, it's just the taxpayer's footing the bill whenever the farm equipment manufactures are trying to squeeze more money out of farmers than there is to be had. >Then why are you adovcating that everyone else throw that all away for a pointless revolution that may not even improve anything, and has a far more likely chance of making things worse? Why everyone else? A regime change would effect me as well. And the government changing doesn't necessarily mean everyone loses everything. >and has a far more likely chance of making things worse? Strong opinion rooted in your battered wife syndrome. As things get worse, and they inevitably will as the corrupt and powerful rarely relinquish the structures they've molded without force, the chances of it somehow being worse will shink and shrink. >I WOULD like for some things to change, but I also know there's a fat chance of it happening. So you prefer to let the noose slowly tighten in exchange for stability, even though it's bad in the long run. Kind of reminds me of people who shop almost exclusively at Walmart. >Not really considering how just about every government is fucking broke, and they're scrambling around trying to find the next magic formula that will save their asses. LOL. LMAO, even. Government/national debt is there by design. Anyone campaigning on reducing it, let alone eliminating it, in most countries, is lying. The national debt crisis is an illusion. It's been an impending problem for decades as you outlined yourself, but never comes to a head, much like global cooling global warming the climate crisis. And it's a system centuries in the making, not easily uprooted.
