>Grand Theft Auto Is Getting Its Own College Course https://archive.ph/rVyxT <The news comes from IGN, which noted that this course is coming to the University of Tennessee. In particular, this is being taught by a history professor named Tore Olsson, who has done something similar in the past with Red Dead Redemption. With Red Dead Redemption, the professor was able to showcase the history of the Wild West. <However, with Grand Theft Auto, the professor is looking to highlight some of the history of America from the 1980s through today. It’s a series that spans several decades, although Tore noted that, as a satirical parody of America, the games often get the history wrong more than right. That said, there are still areas where the professor can showcase that the games get it right. <But I find the games much more interesting – and useful in the class – when their parody rings true. For example, Los Santos, Liberty City, and Vice City are each home to bustling container ports – what 5 calls “the orifice of American capitalism” – that often sit near rusting manufacturing districts. This is spot-on: arguably no technology was more transformative of post-1980 America than the shipping container, which facilitated the global outsourcing of U.S. industry. Or there’s GTA’s radio stations, where much of the games’ sharpest social commentary takes place. In 4 (set in 2008) and 5 (2013), we encounter a highly polarized media landscape where rival political commentators spit acid at each other from separate stations. Here comes the LOL https://archive.ph/mpwp4 >Tore C. Olsson’s books <Red Dead's History: A Video Game, an Obsession, and America's Violent Past <Agrarian Crossings: Reformers and the Remaking of the US and Mexican Countryside >Tore is Currently Reading <The Hispanic Republican: The Shaping of an American Political Identity, from Nixon to Trump >Tore C. wants to read <When the Clock Broke: Con Men, Conspiracists, and How America Cracked Up in the Early 1990s <Hope Never to See It: A Graphic History of Guerrilla Violence during the American Civil War <Savings and Trust: The Rise and Betrayal of the Freedman's Bank <A Traitor to His Species: Henry Bergh and the Birth of the Animal Rights Movement >Tore C. is now following Gleenobly's reviews https://archive.ph/PaPRv >Gleenobly’s favorite books <Ready Player One <Born a Crime: Stories from a South African Childhood

Is the Mass Effect series worth playing through at all?
>>919 Never touched it, so i can only guess. I GUESS the first game is worth it but it gets more trite story-wise as the series goes, culminating in 'space rocks fall, everybody dies' in three different colors at the end of the third game.
Have any anons here been playing or have finished Expedition 33? I finished the game over a month ago now, but I've been thinking about it a bit more recently as I revisit several of the music tracks from the game. I wasn't sure I had enough to start a whole thread about the game, and the Expedition 33 thread on /v/ is awful, so I thought I might as well just share my recent thought here. It's in regard to the ending, so I will spoiler it, just in case. Right as I finished the game, I was satisfied with how the endings were handled. The two options were not presented as equally good outcomes, which fits much better with the established lore, the message of the game, and for overall satisfaction. As I was thinking about the Maelle ending, I realized there was another bit of detail about Verso's situation. Throughout the story, mostly during campsite conversations, Verso talks about how his main love when it comes to art is playing music, not necesarily painting. He talks about how he used to deeply enjoy going to the concert hall and playing the piano. If the player chooses to side with Maelle, Verso shows just how horrible he feels about the canvas continuing to exist, begging to be killed. Yet Maelle selfishly ignores these pleas, and the player sees that Verso eventually stars in a performance in a now crowded performance hall inside the canvas. Of course, as the cutscene goes on, things start to feel more and more off, and clearly Verso has trouble beginning his performance. I recently realized how perfectly cruel this detail was, because something that once brought the real Verso great joy is now part of his torture. He used to play effortlessly in the hall, and now he struggles to do it. Having this scene show the results of Maelle's decisions makes sense both writing wise and really allows for some deeper details to be presented to the player, beyond the surface level tension and discomfort.

TPC unironically and literally released an official Pokemon cartoon about a Gardevoir stalking her trainer while he's at work, and spending her nights giving him happy dreams of a future that could have been This isn't a joke nor an exaggeration: https://archive.ph/it13K https://redirect.invidious.io/watch?index=0&list=PLBE2D9BnJJUoFiRz8ZjF2KToAirHYn1Ru&v=1JtuxmEiYl4 They just know that this shit sells because of the porn at this point, don't they?
>>981 lmao
>>981 No doubt they are aware of what the internet has done. But Gardevoir is a very popular pokemon overall. In the 2020 global poll done in collaboration with Google, Gardevoir was #9 overall and #2 in Hoenn. There was a Japan-only vote done through Xitter in 2021 and Gardevoir placed #30 overall and #6 in Hoenn. At the time there were almost 900 pokemon, which makes #30 an impressive feat. So it is genuinely enjoyed beyond porn. Not just that, but it is an intensely loyal pokemon, willing to create mini black holes to protect its trainer, or even risk its own life for him. For a short animation about a loyal pokemon, Gardevoir fits the role perfectly, especially if they wanted a pokemon that could easily follow her trainer unnoticed.
>>986 >So it is genuinely enjoyed beyond porn. <Citing polls taken far into the age of widespread rule34 that were almost assuredly influenced by porn
>>988 I wasn't saying porn had no influence on anyone's choices for the polls. I said that Gardevoir is appreciated beyond porn. If porn addicts were the main ones voting on these polls, or if Jewgle just looked at popular pokemon searches, their sheer numbers would all but ensure that pokemon like Lopunny, Gardevoir, Vaproeon, etc. were all in the top 5. And yet none of them are there. The ones who took the time to find and go to the proper webpage and choose a pokemon for each category were actual fans who cared beyond what pokemon pleased their perverted minds the most. For the Japanese poll in 2021, users had to make use of hashtags to vote, which requires effort that people just using xitter to jerk off aren't going to want to put in. And in the overall top 5 we have pokemon like Sableye and Magnemite. Sligoo, Lucario, and Gardevoir are on the list, pokemon that are pretty popular in the R34 scene. And what numbers were they? 28, 29, and 30 respectively. If they only consulted porn addicts those three would be right at the top along with the other usual suspects.
>>990 I concede your point.

Indian redeems his nation, his people, and their culture by outjewing (((BlackRock))) https://archive.fo/l4Uja >Carriox’s bankruptcy follows a lawsuit filed in August 2025 in New York Supreme Court by Alter Domus against Bankim Brahmbhatt, the chief executive officer of Bankai Group and owner of Carriox, Bridgevoice, and Broadband Telecom. >The complaint alleges that Brahmbhatt and his companies fabricated telecom receivables used as collateral for more than $500 million in loans, citing forged contracts, counterfeit emails, and false invoices purportedly issued to global carriers such as T-Mobile, Telstra, BICS, Telecom Italia Sparkle, and Taiwan Mobile. >When [BlackRock] attempted to verify those receivables, the scheme allegedly unraveled, revealing that many of the invoices were fictitious and that funds were diverted offshore. Separate Delaware Chancery Court filings froze the group’s assets and prohibited transfers above $5,000 without lender consent. >These actions triggered a chain reaction: within days, Brahmbhatt and his affiliated companies each filed for Chapter 11 protection in New York.
