Now that the dust has settled, can we finally answer the most controversial question to ever grace /co/ boards? Did Scott Pilgrim vs. the World ruin a whole generation of women or were they a lost cause in the first place? Is there anything redeeming about this shitty series?

>>42280 >>41727 Watched the whole crap. It's just rrally meh. It's a bad detective store with a fight scene at end. I dunno what to say about it other then I just watched to listen to kim. But she doesn't have much content. So fuck you BLOM for not giving me more ways to love kim.
>>42472 You put in a lot of effort for the above average example of the moody 2000's girl. At least it's better than the edgelords who fell for the dickripping misanthropes like Gaz or Mandy

>>43263 Thanks.
Honestly, Scott is a massive faggot for ditching Kim for other girls. Hot redhead with an amazing body? The fuck was wrong with him?
>>43266 He traded in a hot redhead who it's hinted did genuinely have feelings for him, and the yellow yandere jailbait for heavily used goods, he's a retard, but that's plot relevant I guess.

>>43270 He's Canadian.

>>43266 He's a retarded faggot, that's the whole point of the comic book. He literally lives in a basement with a gay homo

(35.47 KB 968x968 Knives demure.jpg)

>>43328 The point of the comic is that he needs to learn to stop being a manchild and settle down with the used up whore he's with now, kind of says something about the author considering he based Ramona on his then wife. (Honestly would have stuck with the cute Americanized Canadianized Chinese girl)

>>43317 There's a diffrence? >>43328 Yes and that he doesn't deserve anyone better then a whore that dies her hair every two months wacky colors even in her 40s. >>43330 Good tastes but kim > knives
>>43330 >>43338 Has there EVER been a series where the Asian or redhead girl is not "best girl"? The only one I can think of is Tsukihime.

I've never gotten into this franchise ever. Is it even good? Or is there only one good official piece of installment for it?
>>43345 Never read the comics. I watched the movie and it was alright, directed by the guy who did Shaun of the Dead and all the other movies in the Cornetto Trilogy. Has a lot of cameos by people who'd go on to be big with Marvel capeshit (I mean, Chris Evans had already been in Fantastic Four and Captain America was in production when he wrapped Scott Pilgrim, but Brie Larson Actually looks hot in the movie, holy shit she hit the wall by the time she did Captain Marvel
Oh and the lesbian ninja girl is played by the va for Katara from ATLA in her rare live action movie role.
>>43345 Read the comic online and then you'll know
>>22320 (OP) >Did Scott Pilgrim vs. the World ruin a whole generation of women or were they a lost cause in the first place? Both. Pilgrim acted as a catalyst to an inevitable outcome that would have happened regardless. We were on a very obvious negative trajectory even back in 09', but as things grew more and more openly degenerate most didnt care to point out those flaws. Everyone was just intent on living in the moment. That's why so many feel nostalgic for the 2000's even now. The consequences of widespread internet access hadnt yet taken hold. > Is there anything redeeming about this shitty series? Like all of these equally shit psyop propaganda pieces there is only one redeeming quality, waifus and their lewds.
>>43328 >>43330 >>43338 if O'Malley wasnt a gay canadian retard he'd have made a whole series of cheesecakey dirty pair esque comics following Kim and Knives by now.

>>43353 If the yuri will be kept at minimum. It'd be on board.
>>43374 ideally there wouldnt be any yuri at all and we would just be allowed to appreciate the two of them for what they are, attractive lovable women. but y'know >a fucking leaf
(158.94 KB 640x640 JunjitiveXP.jpg)

>>43375 The leaf is gotta play it safe and make Scott into a cuck who'll later regret his decision thus making him into a "ebbil incel" for trying his hardest to impress some whore. If I was in charge of the comic while knowing I'll be perpetually stuck in a low-wage job: I'd make Scott ditch Ramona once he realizes she's a a bodycount and stick around with Kim and maybe explore sexual fantasies with the lesbian who broke up with Ramona, lots of cockteasing panels even whoring the girls while Scott learns self-respect and integrity. Hell why not make the lesbian finding out she's also into boys and goes through an arc becoming a tradwife? She was a walking disaster and in need of a man, not some cumdumpster who acted more childish than her. How would I end the whole thing? Make Ramona flip her shit out after trying to patch things up with her other exes who now find her repulsive once she hit the wall and get locked up in the nuthouse. The whole thing would be forgettable during its debut and brought back because of its message of: >You can do better One of those mediums that will always comeback with a harder whiplash just like Eltingville, even the lewd autists wouldn't touch it with a 10 feet pole because it's not kosher and they're known of lewding utter dogshit franchises.
>>43411 >The leaf is gotta play it safe and make Scott into a cuck who'll later regret his decision thus making him into a "ebbil incel" for trying his hardest to impress some whore. So bassically the anime?
>>43411 >YWN be the man who uncucks Scott Pilgrim Honestly consider the sort of impact Pilgrim could have had if it wasnt the most cucked leftist tripe it was. I often consider the same for alot of 2010's media. Maybe someday we'll live to see the great uncuckening of these properties. It would really be an amazing sight.
>>43345 Talking about the comics here. Overall it's decent. Depends a lot on your tolerance for pop-culture references. The characters are decent. No one's annoying or out-of-place, except perhaps Julia, but at the same time no one, is that memorable either. They've got their own ambitions, little character traits, relations, etc etc; all very mundane. I think Brian Malley said he inspired the characters off people he knew irl in the alternative-music scene and I believe him. One exception to the mundanity I mentioned, the seven - really six - antagonists, more off-the-wall than the other characters but not by that much. I find it odd that the writer put in two gay dudes, this was back when gay rights were the new hot thing I guess. Setting is urban fantasy, but instead of the usual sword and magic kind of fantasy, it's videogame mechanics. Level-ups, spare lives, character stats, the works. But, and it's a big but, said videogame mechanics only come into play during fights against the evil exes, outside of that the setting is essentially real life. More specifically, the real life of 00s Toronto. Nothing you'd find unbelievable in the 21st century western world. One thing I do find amusing is how much of pre-smartphone technology is there. MP3s, video stores, flip phones. Quaint. Also lots of video game and music references but I didn't catch any. Lastly, you got the plot. It's a romance overdosing on pop-culture references. The romance between Scott and the loose Ramona. Though both being so promiscuous, they're rather fitting for each other. The comics portray the start of a romance between a man-child and a commitment phobe, the antagonists are there to force character development on Scott, though Ramona does get some character development of her own in the end; action scenes, and justify the videogame mechanics. I'd call plot the weakest part of the comic, it starts and goes erratically, often goes on tangents, and then rushes afterwards to make-up for lost time. Did I regret reading it? No. Would I read it again? Also, no. Alt-scene canuck romance, tastes alright, is easily consumed, and doesn't satiate you. Also about the empty lines between paragraphs, I put them there to make it easier to read. I know nobody is going to read this, but I want to practice writing and figured to write this mini-mini-review. Also also, the one who got me into this was a junkie gay dude with commitment issues (redundant I know.) Make of that what you will.
(68.24 KB 807x960 Melusine.jpg)

>>43418 People just wanted an mediocre adaptation of the comics and they couldn't even give fans that. You could easily fit in everything relevant into 2 seasons. I guess this is what divorce and Netflix does to a hapa "man". >>43628 >is easily consumed, and doesn't satiate you. Pretty much how I felt when finishing it at 15 It's downright boring with nothing happening between volumes 3 - 5, it's peak late 2000s media and hipster "culture", sanitized and pretentious.
>>43629 >I guess this is what divorce and Netflix does to a hapa "man". IMO the whole story is a unironic cope about the divorce. Future scott gets divorced and all. And I think it's some weird late coping mechanism or he still hasn't gotten pass it.
>>43730 This. Literal bikecuck tier storytelling,
>>43628 >>43345 You gotta understand, it's all a matter of context. Having videogame references in a comic book in 2004 is nothing like having them tossed around in 2025. O' Manlet was a trend setter by virtue of just being there first, not by being the best or the most important one at that. Plus the very simplistic style allowed for a ton of self expression by people in the late 2000s angsty internet corners, to the point where Scott Pilgrim is less a story and more of a style. In other words, someone who loves SP is the same kind of person as those who whorship Breakfast at Tiffany's because Audrey Hepburn made like two great posters and have never read the book or even watched the movie.
How do I get a Kim Pine IRL?
>>43992 suicide and or lucid dreaming
>>43992 The kind of girls who were like Kim back in the day are all in their forties now.
