Meant to finish this pick back on 4/13, but I am lazy and drawing is hard.

>we had a very interesting discussion about troll reproduction back on halfchan before the jannies nuked it
I remember this one. Here's the screencap for it
technically its from 2 threads.
>How would horns, blood color/caste traits, psychic powers work for them?
I think their skin-color would be varying intermediates between grey and their human parent's skin color as you would expect, likewise with their eye color. I suppose the sharpness of their teeth may also be like this?
For their horns, I think because only one parent has horn genes it would be a case where either they inherent the horns or don't, but for those that do they grow to the same length as their parent. I imagine they'd be the same shape as well, after all trolls share the same horn shape as their ancestors who they share the majority of their genetic makeup with.
While the size and shape of the horns would be the same, the coloration of them may vary similar to skin color, assuming troll horns are made of Keratin as humans also have Keratin. As for psychic powers, its hard to say. Are they purely biological in nature, or magic like how cherubs work? We don't have any examples of psychic powers in nature to compare to.
>Do they begin as babies or grubs? Does this depend on the mother's species?
Having it depend on the mother's species seems like the natural choice. Though if the headcanon is that the trolls used to reproduce differently before evolving/having the mothergrubs introduced, you could say they had live young and that the grub genes come from the mother grub. Might be less interesting though.
>Would female trolls lay eggs or give birth to live young?
As mentioned above, you could have it either way. I do like the idea of female trolls laying eggs, as it would be reminiscent of John Carter Martians. This would be a fitting reference since trolls are humanoid aliens able to reproduce with humans.
If you went with that, I guess that means they technically couldn't "get pregnant" since Oviparous organisms don't have a womb otherwise they wouldn't be laying eggs in the first place.
Grubs are roughly the size of a human baby, so I suppose the egg would grow to that size before being laid meaning a female troll would still look "pregnant" before laying the egg
but you'd only care if you have a weird fetish for that. I don't know if its hypothetically possible for a hard shelled egg to exist inside a womb, but that would seem counter-intuitive anyway.

>I believe it's said that a baby can be made from the genetic material of any two trolls and the Mother Grub.
Has it been said that the Mother Grub can make grubs from the genetic material of only two male trolls specifically?
I'm no expert, but I recall reading that "lesbian" reproduction is hypothetically possible to use nucleus of one egg to fertilize another, albeit through entirely artifical means. If mother grubs have some specialized internal cells that can extract the nuclei of egg and/or sperm cells, these could then insert them into another egg cell. This would have the interesting consequence that an entirely female troll population could reproduce, whereas an entirely male one could not. But if the mother grub could use only male troll jizz to reproduce, you could also have it so mother grubs produce their own egg cells and insert the nuclei of both troll eggs and sperm into them, as
>>45900 suggests.

>Im presuming that they would have horns from birth like wrigglers.
I imagine the horns are used to break out of the eggs. If you wanted to have the prehistoric troll reproduction be live birth, then it would be reasonable to have the trolls sired this way to be born without horns and grow them later.
However, it may be a bit of interesting world building to add some pregnancy complications. If troll females lay eggs, and grubs use their horns to break out of eggs, then troll/human hybrids may either be a risk to their human mother if they inherit the horn gene; or at risk themselves if they have a troll mother but do not inherit their horn genes, as they wouldn't be able to break out of the egg. In both cases, medical assistance would be required. The human mother would require a C-section, and in the case of the troll mother the egg would need to be ultrasounded at regular intervals and manually cracked open when the baby is ready to hatch.

Interesting. Would the trolls still have had insect-like traits
wings, grub prior to the institution of Mother grubs, or would those be traits inherited from them? Presumably mother grubs would be artifical lifeform?
>>46054
Depends if trolls lay eggs or not.

>SP8DERBREATH IS CANON
I wonder why the name "Con-Heir" fell out of fashion. A patrician ship, at any rate. Too bad Hussie decided to "subvert" expectations.
>>46557
>Have any of you guys made a fantroll/kid?
I made Both, techinically, the other night while finishing off the main drawing
see the last pic. Although I didn't think much about their backstory at the time, and I didn't even give them names
which in a way would be fitting considering homestuck protagonists are named by the audience.
I only had a handful of ideas regarding their traits:
>The girl isn't a trouble-maker persay, but is rambunctious. That is to say, she isn't intentionally rebellious but might get into trouble as a side effect of her tomfoolery. I suppose she likes 80s movies, but only actually good ones as opposed to really terrible ones. I also imagine she's a filthy casual gamer.
>The boy used to be more like John, but is currently going through a phase of being embarrassed by his dorkiness. He's the more nerdy of the two siblings, but hides his powerlevel. Despite this, he is lazy when it comes to programming, and has to constantly refer to guides to ensure his syntax is correct whenever he codes because he doesn't practice. Maybe he'd be a weeb as well?
Given their nature as children of existing characters rather than entirely new OC, a whole bunch of fanfic writing may be needed to establish them better, like at what point does this AU deviant from the canon story, how John and Vriska raised them, and what environment they grew up in. The boy probably shouldn't have all his teeth sharp like that, since Vriska only has sharp fangs.
I also just realised that the son looks like Andrew. Believe me, I had no intention of this.
>>49310
>how would you fit Sp8derbreath into the story?
Hard to say. If you were to bring Vriska back, it she should probably do more than just date John, after all the ever growing romance detours were one of the problems with act six. You would still need to devote time to developing their relationship further, but their "dates" to be doing something that contributes to the plot.
But at the same time,Vriska's forced importance when Hussie retconned her back is the main problem with the retcons. Essentially, you'd have to do the same thing Hussie did, but without making his mistakes.
However you brought her back, I suppose Vriska's arc should be learning to accept it when someone else has the spotlight, and when she does get involved to do so only for the right motives. In essence, to stop desiring "relevancy". I guess this would involve accepting John having the spotlight. John's arc involve going from being passive weenie following orders from everyone to active, and coming into his own as a confident young
Man. I guess Vriska would learn passiveness from John, and John would learn confidence from Vriska. Or something. I'm no writer, and its been a
while since I've read homestuck.
>4chan is back up
Well, hopefully you guys come back some time or at least go somewhere other than 4cuck.
