Thinking a lot about alternative media, what are your favourites portrayal of the characters? what do you think about how is portrayed by Japanese media or Western media? some thoughts in a long post, this place is slow anyway:
>DC Comics
The portrayal about Dust, Faunus, Grimm or Semblances are a mess, characters feel artificial as fuck (Bumblebee being the one of the lesbian couples out of all being the most regular), shows the DC writers don't really consider the franchise that important and only did it because they had to promote this shitty Texan-anime.
>DC movies
They are clearly more on-hands by the staff of the show, they have lot of cheap drama (like the renora cuck drama or the Pyrrha fake out) and only the first one is memorable because of the action (mainly Weiss) or the Jaune and Jess interaction which makes it solid. The second shit everything only having team RWBY and feel more about DC than anything else.
>BBTAG
Probably one of the best portrayal of the cast, their interactions are fun as they are outside of their setting and level scaling goes out of the Window, but a lot of care and love shown in the references to Monty's animation. You can tell Arcsys loves the series
>Shirow Miwa's, Shonen Jump or the Anthology volumes
Mostly a Japanese take on the characters by different authors, and you can tell they have genuine care for the characters as they try to tell different kind of stories or retelling of events from their point of views, It doesn't feel like it fails at nailing then but leaves you wanting for more.
>Ice Queendom
Clearly wants to sell merch of the girls in new outfits, but the idea of using nightmare dream to show different layers of the characters is neat, The staff of the anime did their research well and made me wonder how much the watched this show.
>The Session
Untranslated but apparently having Jaune as the main character, getting a loli companion and all about pretty much a beach episode? art by Yasuda? Are you fucking kidding me! how is this shit fully translated yet?
I feel like handing this franchise to the Japanese more often could do more harm than good, any other missed? I didn't counted Grimm Eclipse or Arrowfell because despite being canon they are mid games and RT clearly handled their plot anyway. Also no access to the chink game so I can't say about that one.
