S-tylish Thread. Anonymous 04/17/2025 (Thu) 06:07:34 No. 26923
Post your S-ranks or equivalent runs, speedruns also appreciated! Got any you feel particularly proud about? I'll start with one i just got.
>>26923 Yeah okay, I'll dump the runs I had for Riders that I posted on 4/sthg/ Sorry one of the videos is chewed the fuck out, it got corrupted. They'll look better after this I promise, I figured out optimizing for this website. I'm going to try and get a record for the other tracks but lava factory is a bitch and I can't quite figure out trick spamming yet. https://files.catbox.moe/6d74wc.mp4 https://files.catbox.moe/v67g99.mp4

Just done deep woods, i'll better share it through catbox for slightly less potato quality though. https://files.catbox.moe/w72qct.webm https://files.catbox.moe/tnerzp.webm >>27410 Catbox might be the best option desu, 32mb limit might still be a bit too little for anything past 2 mintues haha. Nice runs though!
What do you guys use to record gameplay? I'll see if I can figure out a decent way to record myself
>>28645 been using simple screen recorder, it works pretty well but i think it's linux only.

>>28640 >32mb limit might still be a bit too little for anything past 2 mintues haha. Probably, but likely a 360p video shouldn't be 180mb either. >>28645 For recording I use OBS. I never figured out why, but I need to use a high bitrate for the video to look okay, and this causes a ridiculous large video file that I then need to re enconde with something efficient.
>>28651 What format are you using? i'm not the most well versed in video compression and that's just as best as i could get it desu, the raw recordings tend to be really heavy usually.
>>28650 What is it called? I'm using Linux too on this computer
>>28653 that's what it's actually called anon.
>>28654 Heh, I misread it as "a simple screen recorder", I didn't consider that was its name. I'll try it
>>28652 For video, VP9 with two pass encoding, and for audio Opus. Since the video was so long I used CRF 42 and 75K of audio bitrate.
>>28656 I'll try that next time i record then, hopefully it'll work, thanks.
One of my time attack emblems in srb2 from Janaury
Maybe I'll record more of my best times, might put them on catbox or something though, this site is already struggling as is
bumping again with a freshly obtained 5 star, crystal cave is surprisingly forgiving desu. >>28661 That worked pretty well! i still had to compress it a bit further but the OG file was only 44mb. Thanks.

Been a minute since i've posted a full stage desu, but titanic plain has a surprisingly demanding 5 stars, at least i've gotten one for the legacy mission, it was fun.
Has anyone ever tried to add a ranking system to to SA1, the classics and the Advance games? It wouldn't even need to be implemented at a technical level, someone could just come up with some score and time goals for players to reach. No one ever keeps track of scores in the old games, that's why the ranking system is good in the first place

>>26923 Only photo but i finally got around doing this, it wasn't hard but it's tense to try and not screw up later on.
>>35484 Nice! I don't remember what my times were since I haven't played in a year, maybe I should take a look one of these days
>>35484 I wonder if anyone's been able to do this without getting any of the asterisk filled out.
>>35497 That might be harder, but it would also be more boring to be honest
>>35497 pretty sure it's how most people did it the first time around desu, it dropped before the spin dash or boost jump updates.
>>35538 The Homing Dash was always there (and it's the most fun thing to do in Cyber Space)
(15.70 MB 768x480 lancelotreturns5stars.webm)

Getting in a boss kill for once, when you get used to the controls the knights of the round table are actually pretty fun to fight, even if this kill was kinda cheesy desu.
>>37539 >this kill was kinda cheesy Yeah it was. Reminds me when I learned that you can cheese through Battle in a similar manner, a lot of the fun was lost after that and it's a bit of a shame when that can happen.
>>37540 The only downside from using it is that it will guarantee you'll get slapped with the coward title desu. >I learned that you can cheese through Battle you mean how you can just use rouge aerial to stunlock everything to death?
>>37542 No, there was a way with some of the attacks that made it impossible for the enemies to defend against them.
A quickie, but i'm surprised forces has something that's actually fun to speed through.
>>37578 I like these small/puzzle side stages too. Those, the Episode Shadow stages, and the Avatar stages (especially later ones), are the best in the game. Modern Sonic's stages are okayish sometimes. I think Forces could have been alright gameplay wise if it focused more on this type of stages, like a somewhat decent successor to Colors, instead half the game is trying to be a badly executed successor to Generations

Just sharing what was posted in the general thread.
What are the best releases or mods to time attack the classic games?
>>40359 Sonic 1 forever Sonic 2 absolute Sonic 3 AIR the decompiled version of CD's pc port, miracle edition is optional but it's there if you want to play knuckles.
>>40452 Since those are fangame recreations I'm guessing they don't have 1:1 accuracy with the original releases >Sonic 1 forever >Sonic 2 absolute I wanted to run these on Linux some time ago but they only had Windows builds and I couldn't get them to work with Wine
>>40467 They are, 1 and 2 are using the phone versions as a base, and if you're really autistic you can change the settings to how they worked originally, like adding roll lock and the spike bug back in. AIR is working off a real S3&K rom so it should be 1:1 >I wanted to run these on Linux some time ago but they only had Windows builds and I couldn't get them to work with Wine I got them running with lutris desu.
