>impression of beta streams so far it doesn't seem like the beta has paid gacha, or gacha in general. surprising amount of content / far in the development cycle, but also some early days jank. ai use is limited to two instances (a barista npc inside a multiplayer chatting/hangout lobby and the ingame help guide). regular NPCs you encounter have regular written dialogue. the social media AI fearmongering is overblown. a lot of player customization to grind for. a lot of things you can customize. leans more towards AC/Stardew with a lite-MMO element (life in a village gameplay) than Sims (life/people/family/community simulation). vibe and aesthetic is pretty comf, soft easy listening music, color palettes, design choices. basically crack for people that like building/customizing teapots/their village/villagers.

I love childs
I've been playing the beta since the first wave of invites. Game's good, has potential to be even better than AC ever was as long as they don't fuck it up. That's the concern though, I think gacha would ruin this game tbqh fam. >you naturally encounter new neighbors through starsea voyages, where they have entire islets designed around them Ripping this out to make a character gacha wouldn't feel right. On top of that, there will likely be a hard limit to how many neighbors you can have on your planet, just like there's a limit to how many villagers you can have in AC. There's only so much space, after all, and continuously expanding the usable land isn't realistic from a scalability perspective. There's no combat, so people won't pull characters for that. No in-depth dating system, so that's not a draw either, and even if there was, the characters being chibi furries limits their appeal for that tactic. Overall, character gacha just doesn't make sense for many other small reasons I'm not gonna bother to list. Cosmetics? Maybe. I can see clothing/furniture gacha being a thing. But I'm thinking their monetization is actually gonna rely on the rotating daily shop that is already present in the beta. There's a limited amount of grindable currency to buy stuff from it, and the only other source is dailies. You also use this same currency to buy batteries for voyages, which is how you progress and find new materials, creatures, and neighbors that don't naturally spawn on your planet. So I'm thinking they're just gonna sell this currency and that this won't be a gacha at all. At least, I can hope so.

cursory glance at the stream archives on youtube/twitch it's 95% women that got in. feedback has been fairly positive and it's impossible to ignore the obvious upgrade to existing market offerings. their marketing team has correctly hyperfocused on penetrating the cosygaming genre and community subsequently i have a feeling this game is going to be extremely controversial/divisive (despite being noncontroversial so far) and cause a great schism in the cosygaming communities by overshadowing the currently well liked offerings and drowning out entrenched voices within the communities with new people that this game will inevitably attract forecasting the great civil war of indieslops vs AAAdevs debate, the p2own vs f2p model cultural divide, the wallgardened smol communities vs the global hoyo community. i have a feeling people aren't ready for hoyo to set a new benchmark and redefining the cosygame genre and will seethe about it for the next 10-20 years (probably over how unethical the monetization model might be since that's the only real sour point)
