Trump administration proposes to cut NASA budget by almost 25% Anonymous 05/03/2025 (Sat) 04:15:13 Id: e26a5e No. 42975
The US administration wants to cut NASA funding by almost a quarter in fiscal year 2026, according a budget proposal released by the White House. According to a memo to the proposal, the government wants to allocate $18.8 billion for NASA, down from $24.8 billion in the current year. That would represent a reduction of 24%. Almost all NASA's operations would be affected, including the International Space Station. Allocations for the ISS would be cut by $508 million. The proposal also takes the scissors to some research plans that are not related to crewed spaceflights. Among them is the project to collect samples of Martian rocks and bring them to Earth. However, overall spending on crewed spaceflight would be bumped up by $647 million. The White House said it seeks a US return to the Moon ahead of China and wants to send humans to Mars.
I doubt it’ll happen, too much money out of the pockets of Boeing and especially SpaceX.
it’s all overpriced fraud anyway. the trump stuff is still too fuckmothering cowardly
>>42997 The budget proposal cancels SLS and Orion after Artemis III. The Boeing money being spent on SLS and the LockMart money being spent on Orion would probably be re-routed to SpaceX
>>42975 I'm sure cutting the funding of the guys who's name is known around the world for incredible ground-breaking research will definitely speed up that research. Sugoi Trump-senpai another 10D chess move. >>42997 >>43141 The money IS being rerouted. They're slowly shifting NASA money elsewhere. I'm sure they'll call it "privatizing" NASA when they replace it with SpaceX, Blue Origin and United Launch (Lockheed and Boeing).
>>42975 Don't they want to drop the ISS anyways?

Well if they dump SLS and Boeing then good riddance, the competency crisis was making the project into an absolute clown show. Starship will probably fail, but aside from that SpaceX is the clear world leader in regular launch systems.
>>43151 NASA doesn't do shit. >>43262 Yes.
