Isn't that strange? Anonymous 09/11/2025 (Thu) 16:04:37 Id: d6fd70 No. 46416
The Overton Window is a method of social manipulation that makes what was once unthinkable seem normal. This is achieved through intermediate steps that allow the masses to become accustomed to each new level of acceptance, until the impossible becomes commonplace. This technique presupposes a society without strong convictions, in which each individual simply seeks to be fashionable. When the masses do have firm principles, manipulation encounters resistance and the link between the media and the public can be broken, forcing those in power to impose their decisions by force. In 2019, a symbolic campaign began: milkshaking. Throwing milkshakes at political leaders was presented as a funny and lighthearted act, but in reality it sought to instill the idea that it is okay to attack those whom the mass media label as undesirable. Although it seemed like a harmless gesture, its essence was the same as that of any political attack. The press and social media reinforced this perception. Thousands of people copied the trend, posing with milkshakes as if it were a game. In this way, what was once unthinkable became radical, but accepted as a supposedly innocent form of protest. The next step followed quickly: opinion pieces began to question whether political violence was necessarily bad. It was not a matter of convincing the public, but of introducing doubt and shifting the window a little further, from the radical to the acceptable. The following years saw more serious consequences. The failed assassination attempt on Donald Trump in 2024 and the professionally executed murder of Charlie Kirk showed that violence had already escalated. The choice of Kirk, hated by both the left and sectors disenchanted with Trump, ensured that public condemnation would be lukewarm. With that, the phenomenon went from acceptable to popular. This weak reaction was not accidental, but part of the process. Choosing a target who had enemies on different fronts ensured that the attack would not provoke unanimous rejection, but would be viewed with indifference or even sympathy by some sectors. The final step will be to transform that acceptance into obligation: the idea that the mass media have the power to decide who deserves to live and who should be eliminated. Just as in 2019 the notion was introduced that political violence was not necessarily bad, in the coming years it will become axiomatic that the elimination of certain individuals is a right of those who control the discourse.
>The choice of Kirk, hated by both the left and sectors disenchanted with Trump, ensured that public condemnation would be lukewarm. With that, the phenomenon went from acceptable to popular. This weak reaction was not accidental, but part of the process. If that was their aim it has massively backfired. This has outraged everyone who isn't some terminally online loser.
