/AFJ/ - Arc Fall Jauneral #1 Come Aboard Remnant's Hottest Romance: Introducing what is probably RWBY's most controversial relationship but one that also has the potential to be the greatest love story in RWBY - The epic romance between Our Knight Jaune Arc & The Fallen Maiden Cinder Fall. Star-crossed enemy to lover stories are great in fiction and reality, after all some of the Greatest Romances in history are that - Mark Antony and Cleopatra or Circe and Odysseus come to mind as examples. Also of course, a femme fatale falling for a righteous man is just smoldering. Post or Write/Draw Art and Fanfics, Prompts, discuss Cinder, Jaune and/or the ArcFurnace ship. >>9125 I cant imagine Cinder handing out candy to other kids. Jaune definitely would though. I can see her scaring the hell out of kids for fun though. If she and Jaune have their own kids I think she'd be pretty protective and stick close behind them while they trick or treated. Would Cinder eat any candy though? or would she hate sweets?

>>9191 >91 91 Checked! >I cant imagine Cinder handing out candy to other kids. It IS in the show. >If she and Jaune have their own kids I think she'd be pretty protective and stick close behind them while they trick or treated. Any good parent would but yeah, she'd definitely be a bipolar mix of protective lioness/helicopter mom and "let the kids figure things out on their own". >Would Cinder eat any candy though? or would she hate sweets? In my experience women like Cinder are either one of 2 types; they avoid sweet things aside from the rare craving, or sweets are their little taboo and they hide it from others. Either way she'd eat it in secret which would be a plausible habit also from her hungry days at the Orphanage and later The Glass Unicorn
>>9191 >Would Cinder eat any candy though? or would she hate sweets? Some people like to headcanon that Cinder secretly LOVES sweets due to being deprived of them her whole childhood. So she developed a massive sweet tooth the moment she could get them herself. But she doesn't tell anyone. It doesn't make her look scary/powerful if she's obsessed with sweets.
(94.63 KB 860x463 strawberry_jelly_candy.webp)

>>9225 I wonder what kind of candy she would like. Ruby likes strawberrys and since Cinder is Ruby's dark mirror would she like the same? or the opposite? what would even be the opposite of strawberry? Lol.
>>9264 Strawberries is the easiest assumption considering the cake she tried to eat once had strawberries on it. It's not hard to imagine she could've developed an obsession with eating them whever she wanted. Though if I had to pick a headcanon at random just to contrast Ruby I would say her favorite fruit is Blackberries.
>>9280 >>9264 Strawberries would be poetic, sharing a similar delight for tangy, slightly sour yet sweet berries. An alternate I'd suggest is Black Currants or Смородина
It's a new month and new Holiday. Since it's Turkey Month I'm curious. For a Knightfall Thanksgiving who cooks the big meal? Jaune or Cinder?
>>9386 Shared work. Cinder can cook well and so can Jaune given their upbringings (servitude and living in a mostly female family). I'm honestly more interesting in Remnant holidays. Given how important it is to be in good spirits to keep away the Grimm, what holidays are there other than Vytal? How are they celebrated? Subsequently how would Jaune/Cinder celebrate (or not)?
(172.78 KB 1570x1720 20231102_225203.jpg)

>>9387 I think there definitely has to be some holidays. I wouldn't be surprised if Remnant's Halloween was based around the Grimm. Christmas definitely makes sense to exist on remnant considering it's THE holiday of Joy. Centered giving gifts and spreading cheer. Maybe this is just my Christmas bias but I think Jaune & Cinder would definitely celebrate it. Both Thanksgiving AND Christmas. Thanksgiving mainly because Cinder was a child who was deprived of food so she'd love to be fed especially with her new family(Jaune & their kids). Christmas I think Cinder would sneer and turn her nose up at. But only at first. Jaune would eventually convince her to participate in the Holiday and she'd have a good time and make some lasting memories. I think the holidays would be called different things from the ones in our world but the basic concepts would be the same.

>>9393 >9393 Checked dubs. >Christmas definitely makes sense to exist on remnant considering it's THE holiday of Joy. Centered giving gifts and spreading cheer. Something similar yes, but given the lack of an actual Christ in the history that we know of (or Jews or Romans) it would probably have a different name and historical context. That said, I agree. Cinder would probably enjoy the Holidays, forming new, good memories in the place of bad ones.
>>9490 That reminds me of Tolkien losing his shit over CS Lewis including Santa in Narnia
>>9492 As much as I like the idea of earth holidays like Christmas in Remnant, I also prefer there to be some explanation and backstory to how that came about, since RWBY has always had some behind-the-scenes world-building for a lot of it's stuff (including the rule of cool scenes) since the Monty Days. I didn't know that Tolkien disliked Santa being in Narnia, I've only heard he created Ents because of Lewis' reference to talking-walking trees that didn't actually walk or talk. CS Lewis always had a lot of direct and indirect Christian ideology or references in Narnia so I don't know what Tolkien was so mad about in that regard. Then again I know that Tolkien loathed allegory, so it probably tracks.
>>9515 As you said, Tolkien disliked direct allegory, and Narnia was filled with it. Tolkien also went into ridiculous detail with everything inside of his world, including creating fictional languages, cultures and histories. CS Lewis was more of a "wouldn't it be cool if there was a Santa Claus here." Funnily enough, CS Lewis was an atheist who reconverted to Christianity in his 30s (partially due to Tolkien's influence). Yet his Christian allegories are significantly more on the nose compared to Tolkien's, who was a lifelong Catholic.
Ruby, Ozpin, Qrow and Lionheart have all worn crosses. Ruby and Yang have both said "Oh my God" (singular). Not to mention that people say Geez or Jeez. If you take all this seriously, then you have to conclude that there is a Remnant equivalent to Christianity, involving Jesus and the crucifixion. Probably not intentional, but it goes to show how powerful Christianity is that it is getting brought along, probably by accident, in a world that is supposedly polytheistic.
>>9525 That is a fair point, but I think that the crosses was supposed to have some sort of aesthetic, they're not exclusive to Christianity and it probably had some sort of explanation by Monty, we don't see the cross imagery almost at all in the later Volumes. Additionally the phrase a cross to bear comes to mind; In Ancient Rome sometimes they'd make martyrs carry your own cross after torture before crucifixion. It's a metaphor about a great mental burden. And so on, pic rel. >>9527 MarcoV4 delivers again!
>>9529 The reason we have the portate cross is because of the story of Jesus being made to carry his own cross to his crucifixion. The phrase "a cross to bear" is likewise. I mean even the idea of a religious martyr is a Christian one, crucifixion as a practice was just a particularly brutal way to punish, humiliate, and deter actions against the state, piracy, slaves revolting, etc. If such a symbol is found in Scandinavian mythology I hazard it's from Christianity anyway, given how our modern impression of Norse mythology is largely from the lens of Christian monks, who sought to repurpose their mythology to make conversion a more straightforward process. If I had to guess, this imagery has been scrubbed over the series as the team became more conscious of it.
>>9537 Seen this one before, but it's hot every time. I wonder if Cinder would want a 'traditional' wedding with all the pomp and ceremony or not. Jaune might think it's romantic and worth doing, but similarly his time in The Ever After makes me think he'd prefer more quieter things. I think Cinder would also prefer minimal ceremony, some friends and family in a largely informal affair. I doubt she would have any interest in religion either.
>>9535 >Still mostly christian Fair enough, although I should have realized earlier that the silver cross and cross in general is also associated with hunting and killing fell-creatures like Vampires and Werewolves, and given that Ruby takes cues from Little Red Riding Hood.... Additionally the Portate Cross supports the symbolism I stated earlier regarding Martyrs, relative to Qrow, further supported from the lyrics of Bad Luck Charm, where among the descriptors is "an Albatross" i.e. Albatross across one's neck, from The Rime of The Anciente Mariner. >this imagery has been scrubbed over the series as the team became more conscious of it. Which sucks, as they were neat little details and I'm sure Monty had some sort of backstory idea for them, he almost always had some fun logic to his rule of cool details, at least distinct ones like these. You see something similar with how he composed and designed JNPR (detailed references to cross-dressing legendary/mythical characters), but I digress.
>>9525 Of course in this context it's clearly meant to be Latin cross, likely with an intent to link Ruby to myths about supernatural hunters ( ala Van Helsing) who had holy weapons on them. But cross is a symbol simple enough to draw to conclude divergent evolution. Ruby wearing a cross doesn't mean there is a Remnant Jesus. Maybe it's traditional shape in Vale, maybe it's associated with someone important. Point is, you can write many different explanation, it's not as explicit as there being Popemobile in the Cars movie. As for "Geez," I think people are so used to certain terms that they don't realize their origin, that is, it makes no sense for characters in different world to invoke Jesus' name. Reminds me of prevalence of "Fire" order when using bows in many medieval fantasy media. "Fire" became an order after introduction of gunpowder, saying archers to fire their arrows in a world without gunpowder makes no sense. Edit: Correction, convergent evolution (combined the posts) -BO

>>9525 Just my two autistic cents, and this will 100% not be the case, but it could be that remnant has its own language(s), and that what we hear being spoken in the show is actually just an approximate translation of what is actually being said, and so when they say 'geez' it's only an equivalent word in our language and not an actual reference to jesus. Kinda like how the kayfabe of LOTR is that its a translation from english to aduni, one of tolkien's fictional languages. On top of that, the crosses are undoubtedly a continuation of the japanese tendency to create bizzarely edgy depictions of christianity that was popular when monty was growing up.
>>9572 >what we hear being spoken in the show is actually just an approximate translation of what is actually being said, and so when they say 'geez' it's only an equivalent word in our language and not an actual reference to jesus. Kinda like how the kayfabe of LOTR is that its a translation from english to aduni, one of tolkien's fictional languages. It's like you read my mind, I had this exact same thought earlier today. >the japanese tendency to create bizzarely edgy depictions of christianity that was popular when monty was growing up. Or just Christian references and allegories in general. A lot of Fairy Tales as we know them today have heavy Christian themes, including the Norse Myths which were interpreted by early Monks. For the Japanese side Neon Genesis Evangelion had a lot of Christian symbolism and allegory. Even shows like DxD have a lot of these things.
>>9588 We know that Cinder can dance based on Monty's side animations and her dancing a bit during V2 but I wonder if she can play any musical instruments. What instrument would she play? Also /mu/ >>3165
>>9540 I doubt Cinder would care too much. I think she might enjoy getting to do a 'traditional' wedding but she would probably also prefer something unique as long as it signified their union. Definitely agree with it being a small occasion with only a handful of friends and family. The real question is which friends would actually show up to her & Jaune's wedding? Because I'm fairly certain a handful of them might still be holding a grudge against her. Which is understandable tbh. >>9601 Cinder definitely twerks for Jaune imo. lol.

I have another good song for Knightfall, it just fits so well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UuzlZWvTU2I
(710.90 KB 1024x1365 Cinder Dancer.png)

>>9611 >Cinder definitely twerks for Jaune imo. lol. Honestly, I don't see it. 90% of white people twerking is cringe and fittingly, most never do it. If any dance feels like Cinder's it would be Swing and the Latin and Latino dances (Tango, Samba, Salsa) > https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rrbQ0bv9Az0 > https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RrwTa7gN12Q > https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PB-b8Oz4FGk And my actual question wasn't answered. Would she play an instrument? What kind? >which friends would actually show up to her & Jaune's wedding? Because I'm fairly certain a handful of them might still be holding a grudge against her. Which is understandable tbh. Emerald, maybe Merc. On Jaune's side more than likely Ruby, Nora and Ren.
>>9616 >Honestly, I don't see it. 90% of white people I do. Cinder would be the in the 10% who can really throw it back for their man. lol. I could also see her being really good at Salsa and belly dancing. Also do we think Cinder is white? or half-asian? >Would she play an instrument? What kind? Hm. Interesting question. Not sure. My first guess would be Violin. However Cinder with the sax could be interesting. >Emerald, maybe Merc. On Jaune's side more than likely Ruby, Nora and Ren. EM & Merc would def show up for Cinder. Ruby is questionable but Nora and Ren I think would definitely show up.
(83.95 KB 800x800 CinderFallShirt.jpg)

>>9616 >white people She's asian bro... but they also cannot twerk.
>>9625 >>9632 She's a hapa I know, but the point stands. And I dunno, twerking seems... out of character for her to me. I could see Yang doing it, or Nora, because it matches their personality. Not Cinder. I put down Merc as a maybe because he's not shown to be all that close to Cinder like the Bug is. Ruby is close to Jaune and she's nothing if not forgiving and for reconciliation. Nora and Ren are close with Jaune too. The rest (WBY) barely talk to Jaune. >Sax Kinda funny but I don't see it outside of crack. I think something like a flute or a guitar would be more her.
>>9632 Typically true but asians also dont typically have fat asses. You'd be surprised what you run into though. >>9635 Eh. I don't really feel that way. To me it fits but it's less about who it specifically fits with moreso that I would enjoy it. I mean it doesn't fit Ruby's character but I still find it hot to imagine her doing it. lol. Merc isn't likely to go on his own but Emerald would make him go. I dont know I see Ruby struggling a bit with going but maybe she convinces herself to try. Maybe she could convince her team as well but I honestly dont see the rest showing up. So we agree there. Flute kinda works for Cinder. Why guitar? Because it matches Jaune?
(361.63 KB 1920x1280 Sheena_YoungCinder.jpg)

How we feelin about the new info dropped about Cinder? Personally I thought it was interesting but ultimately I'm glad they went with Cinder as her name.
>>9656 Agree to disagree then on the twerking, though hotness is true. >asians also dont typically have fat asses Oh you'd be surprised what a fit Asian woman that practices martial arts has for ASSets >Why guitar? Because it matches Jaune? Actually because of the Spanish vibes I get from Cinder, hence my suggestion of latin dances. Flute is just purely vibes for now, might have a better explanation later. >>9681 It's interesting but I agree, I like Cinder as she is. Ashe is also a bit too on the nose in some ways, though the Medea reference is definitely something to use in the future.

Knightfall memes!
>>9687 Fair enough. I've also always disliked the name Ashe and felt it was generic. Same way I feel about people naming Jaune & Cinder's kids "Ash" or something to do with fire. It's just...way too generic. Boring even. Medea sounds like it could be used for an antagonist or maybe Cinder's mother's name.
Reposting a take I wrote a while back I was rewatching some episodes of Transformers: Prime. One of the best Transformers series in my opinion despite the shit-show of a production. Anyway Airachnid, the spider-femme decepticon reminded me of Cinder. The Japanese dub even has a hilarious yandere aspect, especially regarding her rivalry/relationship with Jack Darby and Arcee (kinda similar to the Ruby-Jaune vs Cinder dynamic). *Gina Torres' voice also has a similar sultry, slightly husky flair that fits and is similar to Cinder's (Jessica Nigri). Now what would be some epic crossover art. Unfortunately there's like only 1 or 2 fics where Jaune has this dynamic with Arcee but nothing I know of with Airachnid, at least none that aren't severely AU, pic rel. *She played Zoe Washburne in Firefly
