Well, I'd be quite distressed at first. But like most things in life, I'll get desensitized after enough time that most encounters would probably not disturb me. But I don't think I can describe the feelings I'd feel if I see a smiling hatchling trotting alongside his parents, with a deep red 'SUFFOCATED' above his head with the number '2756'. Frankly, with how I'm treating my loved ones IRL, maybe I'll need such a death timer for me to start valuing them more.
I have a lot of autistic questions. As
>>36682 stated, deaths can be subverted. But how sensitive is this? If a major artery is cut, would the cause of death (CoD) change to reflect this? Are the numbers actually seconds or another measure of time? The first pic shows the mom losing five seconds, while little hangdragon only lost two in that panel. (Might be author mistake/draft, but who knows?)

Let me sperg about this idea for a bit. This scenario holds tremendous narrative potential. For one, the wording. 'Hanged' is a verb that implies either a second party would kill him or he would kill himself using that method. The author could've used 'Asphyxiation' as the more medically appropriate term, but narratively that doesn't imply the same things as 'hanging' does. The author could've used 'stroke' instead of the more medically accurate term, but didn't, which leads me to believe that this unfortunate second character is likely going to stress himself to death trying (or succeeding) in coaxing the answer out of Hangdragon. If that is true, to what manner was Hangdragon's intervention in attempting to save Opium-dragon responsible for this second character's CoD? I'm assuming mister-Stroke was close to miss-Opium, in whatever shape or form. Was mister-Stroke's CoD different before hangdragon got involved?
Dramatic irony is in full force in this picture. We see mister-Stroke as he talks to hangdragon, himself completely unaware of his remaining time left on earth, or his CoD. Hangdragon is clearly still young; a child even. He might not know what those words mean exactly, but he knows he might be witnessing someone dying right in front of him. He's hesitant to reveal this to mister-Stroke, who I assume is picking up on Hangdragon's hesitation, and I'm assuming that Hangdragon doesn't spill it out until mister-Stroke quite literally stresses himself out on the spot. This scene would leave quite the dramatic impact on Hangdragon and would likely leave him with trauma for years.
There is tremendous narrative potential for this to be used in the comic, and the author is clearly leveraging this. May I ask from where this comic's from?

I concur. We should include some info in the thread header going further about alternatives and such, so if something like 4chan dying happens again we'll be able to transition to another site without losing, like, half of everyone.
(Also, what happened to 'big-wof-anon'? He just kinda stopped posting.)
