/vst/ General Anonymous 04/16/2025 (Wed) 10:17:43 Id: f56b4d No. 1095464
A general thread for all related to strategy games. Modding threads, Paradox threads, /mbg/, and the like are all welcome to post here since /vst/ was a slow board. In recent news that I know of >Starsector update expanding end game content recently released >various mechanic showcases for EU5 >teasers for HoI4 mods, chiefly TFR.
>>1246158 anon is retarded and saw the edit to see you soon whenever you try to access 4cucks. he really thinks he will be able to shitpost with tranny jannies being on edge after spending so much time without posting BBC/banning someone.
>>1246158 I recognise that doujin
Playing Battletech, I know this is pre Clan Invasion era, do spamming heavy and assault work in the campaign? I'm thinking of trying to get me Atlas, Awesome and Zeus
Alright, 4chan’s back up. >>1200244
>>1247692 SAY IT AGAIN? SEE YA GSG FAG
>>1256492 >didn't prove anything go on nigger, try linking the kiwifaggot thread about the jannies, see what happens.
And we're back here, I hate 4jannies so much. Fix your dogshit site.
it was fake...

Is this the old Oktan switcharoo?
Does anyone still play Imperator? What do you think of Gift of the Nile and the new AI updates coming to Invictus? What are your thoughts on megacampaigns?
>>1257131 Bormann Prism superior
I wanna pick up Songs of Syx again. Though I keep starting near a river+mountain with the pigs & making commieblocks..
Where did all of the troubleshooter bros go?
Looking at the TFR super events, I think the 3rd Gulf War would be a good event that precludes the 2ACW.
>>1261346 I'm playing it now. Didn't know about that. Thanks for mentioning it.
>>1294523 No problem. If you didn't know about Invictus, then you should also look into Virtual Limes, the Better Blobs version of Crisis of the Third Century, and the Timeline Extension for Invictus. If you didn't know about Gift of the Nile, it's something to look into but may not be worth a full playthrough of just yet because it's still in development and is a mega-alt-hist mod in the same sense as Divergences of Darkness, if not moreso. However, it certainly makes things more entertaining.
>>1294545 > the Better Blobs version of Crisis of the Third Century, and the Timeline Extension for Invictus. These aren't compatible, right? Does the latter also punish blobbing?
>>1234097 go test it then get back to us with the results.
>>1272289 I remember being able to grow pop well but got sick of so many needs/wants >actually look into different pop types >realize i just want slaves based on what I'm best at building for is it that easy to turn into an evil pos irl?
>>1305239 >These aren't compatible, right? BetterBlobs Crisis of the Third Century requires regular Crisis of the Third Century, and regular Crisis of the Third Century requires Timeline Extension for Invictus. BetterBlobs Crisis of the Third Century reduces the end date from 1229 to 361, but you can press Continue at the end screen. The creator of BetterBlobs Crisis of the Third Century recommends doing so if you aren't playing a megacampaign. >Does the latter also punish blobbing? Christianity and the Germanic migrations happen, among other things, so yes, but not as much as Crisis of the Third Century. You'll also want INR - Invictus, Fix Scorched Earth (Invictus), Imperator: Invictus - More Cultural Names, Releasable Governors for Invictus, Multiculti, and Culture Conflation for Invictus. Dynastic Country Names, Simple Notifications (read the description), 2.0 Trade League Cities Affordable, and Micro QoL Changes aren't bad to have too. Lucky Nations, Antagonist Nations, and Bad Omens are recommendations I have to give with caution since the first two make some nations stronger than others, optionally randomly, and Bad Omens changes the outcome of Omens from "Good" every time to a range of "Very Bad" to "Very Good," depending on some math explained in the discussions section of that mod. Adopt Local Culture is an edge case mod that I don't know if I would recommend to anyone, but it can be nice to have. There are some other, smaller mods that I'd recommend to enthusiasts, but it seems like you're new to the game. Remember to keep load order in mind.
>>1307373 >Invictus >INR - Invictus >Timeline Extension for Invictus >TE: Crisis of the Third Century >BetterBlobs >Virtual Limes >Culture Conflation >Multiculti >Everything else Is this about right?
>>1308042 >Invictus >INR - Invictus >Culture Conflation (for Invictus) >Multiculti >Invictus - More Cultural Names >Timeline Extension for Invictus >Virtual Limes >Everything Else >Crisis of the Third Century >BetterBlobs That's how I had it, at least. I haven't played in a little while.
The political situation for Japan in TFR doesn't make much sense. I don't know why a LDP with complete free reign over Japan and Asia would only be able to integrate the already Leftist-leaning Komeito, especially if Abe was assassinated, and for a mod where Atomwaffen can have real political power, I don't know why the Anti-NHK Party wouldn't be more popular for the mod's proposed idea of a "Civil Coalition" against the LDP.
So, EU5... It looks good.
>>1333478 My opinion hasn't changed. It's just a vessel for M&T4.
>>1333478 And like Vicky 3, it will be locked behind the AVX2 instruction set and I won't be able to play it. At least this means EU4's development is finally over, so I can now pirate the "complete" game and play it, having only played the original release before.
How do you guys deal with suddenly being attacked by multiple nations? I'm playing Europa Universalis: Rome using the Reign of the Ancients Mod and I'm expanding as one of the many Germanic tribes to form a Germanic nation. Unfortunately, my only ally suddenly breaks from me and I suddeny get attacked by 4 tribes, each commanding 8-9 men armies commanded by generals that have a 8-9 martial skill while I have a single 12-men army commanded by a 8-martial general. Currently, I'm relying reducing their numbers through attrition while they besiege one of my territories (the mod reduced the supply lines to make war challenging) but I'm none too sure about my success.
It's unorthodox to the crowd here, but I've been playing Campaign Trail mods and think that some of them are pretty good. American Carnage is made by a libtard, but what can be done in it is really fun. During my game, I >Kept Bannon >Left NAFTA >Left Europe >Left NATO >Left Afghanistan <Didn't Pull Out of Iraq (Wanted to Leave Europe) >Worked With Assad >Defended Confederate Heritage After Charlottesville >Fully Got Rid of Obamacare >Broke Up Amazon >Declared a National Emergency on Immigration and Sent in the Troops >Declared an Insurrection by Summer of Love and Sent in the Troops >Crippled the Blue Wave >Implemented Chinese/Filipino-style Executions for Drug Dealers >Avoided Impeachment >Declared Total Lockdown Before Corona Arrived, Preventing the Corona Economy >Weaponized Leaks Instead of Getting My Pillow Endorsement >Pushed Heritage Society Judges >Let Advisors Exterminate Radical Islam >Disseminated Info on Twitter Instead of Operation Warp-Speed >Used Leaks Instead of Leaving Twitter >Completely Transformed the RNC >Pushed Extreme Deregulation >Pushed Extreme Income Tax Elimination >Avoided All Scandals >Killed the Department of Education My goals were to get as many wins as possible, completely disregard generals, and be as populist as possible. I won 327 electoral votes and the popular vote. I won the entire South except for Virginia, and the entire Rust Belt except for Illinois. I even won Maine and New Hampshire. This led to what I'd call the "meme" result. When it came to the Democrats, I faced off against Bloomberg, who won 211 electoral votes. For third parties, my opponents were Kanye West and John McAfee. Kanye and McAfee won 1.4% and 1.0% of the popular vote, respectively, and this is probably why I won at all. The 2024 election is Abrams versus Vance, and a major event of the 2020 Administration is the federalized national guard being used in full force against Anti-Israel protesters at Columbia. From what I remember, the 2024 election has Abrams on the left, implying she won against Vance, but this mod is made by the same fag whose "historical outcomes" see Trump lose against everyone except Hillary. I think that, historically speaking, this might be considered a bad outcome. I never went hard on protectionism. I simply synthesized a strange America that's a mishmash of the 80s, 90s, and 00s. Considering how popular presidents have historically done things in their second terms, especially Obama, maybe the 2020 Administration finished the job and made sense of it all. At least I didn't achieve a landslide victory, which sees even worse outcomes. >>1333478 I've been cautious on anything attached to Johan since Imperator, but what I saw in the initial dev diaries seemed good. What do you like about it?
The TFR Rebalance War Submod updated, and it loudly proclaimed that China and Russia have hidden bonuses while their enemies have hidden maluses. Additionally, most African, European, and Asian countries now have their research slots re-added and had their "Disable AI Production" flag turned off. Unfortunately, the mod maker has said he'll keep nerfing Russia until it's as hard to win as Russia as it is as NATO in base TFR. Presumably, this applies to China as well. I think this is stupid. One of the main themes of TFR is that non-unified groups like the EU and PDTO are cumbersome to operate in practice because of their lack of unity. >>1356722 I've never played EU: Rome, but I usually go against nations attacking me in order of strength, starting with the weakest. I also use terrain to my advantage and try to split stacks.
>>1376381 Thank you for the advice. I managed to defeat the armies and almost managed to unite the Germanic lands. Until a random event occured where I suddenly 4 province broke away and became independent...
>>1356766 Gotta admit, if Trump had done this all in his first term he'd be compared to the likes of great American presidents of all time.
If anyone's still checking out this thread. How do you handle EU3's Minting and Inflation? Do I just grit my teeth and hope I'm successful enough to reduce my inflation costs in the long run or do I rely on loans?
>>1455419 >If anyone's still checking out this thread. i think most went back to trannychan, it's not like der jannen were actively suppressing /vst/. maybe go lurk or something or wait the retarded posting timer they changed.
>>1308042 Sorry for the late notice, but there's one specific modification you should make to BetterBlobs. Go to zzz_tribal_flavour_events_c3rd.txt and dummy out tribal_flavour_events.451 and tribal_flavour_events.4206. They are a fucking pain because they make you and the AI release tribal vassals when you gain any land which the mod defines as inhospitable. This causes masses of unnecessary tribal vassals.
Since there's now a Bronze Age to Imperator converter, I've decided to try out Bronze Age Reborn, and I have to say that it's not very good. It's the closest thing you can get to a high performance Imperator sandbox, but it has basically none of the QoL features and entirely none of the flavor of Invictus, despite being maintained by the same lead developer. The technologies aren't even changed. Without an end date, you can just keep going until you WC or get bored, and it's starting to look like I'm going to WC with Egypt's 11th Dynasty. Speaking of Egypt, there are neither dynasty mechanics nor missions to reform the Egyptian faith so it's more warlike nor events regarding Atenism. You just play Egypt like any other nation, but you have a handful of short mission trees. Neither the Hittites nor the migrant hordes of the Bronze Age Collapse appear, so nothing interesting really happens. I wish the converter and mod would ape mechanics and flavor from Crisis of the Third Century and Gift of the Nile.
I've been playing Imperator with Chaotic AI turn on as Carthage. I've reached a point where I don't know what I'm doing anymore. I conquered all of Italy, most of Iberia, half of Egypt, all of North Africa, Judea, and the Sinai, and I'm integrating a tribe that owns 3/4 of Gaul and all of England and Wales. I have about ten accepted cultures, which might be too many, but research is going well, and I accepted them to gain their unique techs. The Macedonians are my biggest present enemy and are blocking me from completing my mission tree because they hold Greece and Anatolia, but I only have 150 years before the C3C starts. I'm considering decentralizing my empire after I break the Macedonians. Here are a few things I've learned from this run: The mod "Realistic Tribes" is completely useless if you plan on making tribal vassals. It causes their national civilization to tick down every month, which would force them to migrate if they ever actually moved their capitals. Instead, I had to cheat a few times because they would practically never consider, and especially not finish, reforming. You should watch out for the mod "Paler Romans". It completely fucks up the history files. Characters are shuffled everywhere. I learned that the hard way on some failed runs. If you're playing with Border Cleaner, lower z_border_cleaner_manual_size_threshold in z_border_cleaner_values.txt to 1. Add always = no under is_party_type = democratic_party in senate_objectives_generic.txt, senate_objectives_roman.txt, and senate_objectives_car.txt. Realistically, the democrats wouldn't push for expanded citizenship in almost any nation, and citizenship in IR doesn't do what it did historically. Playing as a republic is more stable than playing as a monarchy. If you don't plan on integrating the majority culture of a city with a capture event, or don't plan on releasing a nation which will own that city anytime soon, just destroy the city. There are typically plenty of other cities in the area.
