Played some action platformer games
>Goodboy Galaxy
I appreciate the gimmick that it’s a GBA game in 2025, actually playable on visual boy advance, but the game itself is just too simple with a lot of walking back and forth between areas
>Decline’s Drop
More like Decline’s DROPPED. It’s interesting that there’s a lot hidden collectibles in every single stage that’d require creative movement to discover. But everything else is still shit. Movement is very slow and floaty, combat is very simplistic and the sound department is very lacking here. I never cared about BGM in vidya, but this game’s lack of it really ruined the experience
>Aeruta
I really thought this was a Japanese game due to its fun writing and EXPRESSIVE visual, something that Chinese/Korean weeb games always failed to do. But it’s actually made by a small chinese devs. Overall it’s quite fun comfy slop, but suffers from a massive gameplay balance issue. This game focuses on town development and store management (and character bond events), but acquiring resources (money and materials) to upgrade stuff requires too much repetitive grinding, going to the same stages over and over again. I ended up beating the final boss before I even had a chance to upgrade half of the stuff. The game continues on after the final boss on endless mode, but what’s the point?
>BioGun
One of the few shooter metroidvania I enjoyed (I hated Metroid Dread). The premise is very interesting, you’re a vaccine exploring the inside of a dog’s internal organ to hunt deadly viruses. This game was very difficult with tough platforming and bosses. Bosses are especially hard, which I think is simply because they move very fast, way faster than typical bosses in other metroidvania. (un)fortunately, the game became quite easy at the 2nd half where I’ve unlocked a bunch of tools, movement, healing, energy and HP upgrades.
