>Katana Zero (2019, 216.3 MB)
2D side-scrolling platform combat game similar to Ninja Gaiden. The hook is that your character has precognition, so each level is framed as a potential scenario that plays out in their head prior to being executed, so if you mess something up it's considered a failure of planning, and successful runs are played back to you at the end of a level via CCTV camera footage, so you can see the 'right decisions' as they were recorded by an external source. You can also temporarily slow down time so you can do things like deflect bullets back at the marksman who shot them (or just git gud and learn the timing without the need for a handicap) and navigate course obstacles. 80s Vaporwave soundtrack and aesthetic with an interesting enough storyline. Free DLC coming soon.
>Valheim (2021, 1.5 GB)
Technically doesn't meet your requirement of being under 1GB but I had to include it for the sheer amount of content it has packed into such a small file size. It's a Minecraft-esque survival and crafting game in a procedural world. You collect resources to build bases and upgrade equipment and defeat enemies. Each biome has a boss to defeat which halts your upgrade progression. It's not a voxel based building game though so there is a limit to what you can build with it, but despite this it's still worthwhile for people who are into this sort of game. It's much more combat oriented than Minecraft though. This game has been in early access for some time, and is therefore unfinished, but it has a sizable modding community so there's bound to be a way for you to refine your experience if you're unsatisfied with vanilla.
>Salt and Sanctuary (2016, 890.9 MB)
2D sidescrolling non-linear metroidvania that was inspired by Bloodborne.
>Spark the Electric Jester (2017, roughly 400 MB)
An indie game that was Kickstarted in 2017, it was developed by a Brazilian dev who is active in the Sonic fangame community, and who worked on a number of fan game titles, as well as contributing work to the Hedge Physics Unity based engine. As you can expect, this game was heavily influenced and inspired by Sonic, and so it plays a lot like a Sonic game. It manages to have similar speed and platforming of Sonic games, but with wall jumping and other traversal abilities, blended with a sort of Kirby or Mega Man-esque ability to consume foes and unlock new abilities. I've never played this one myself, but it's not hard to find online (for free) and I'm recommending it because it looks like something I would play.
