Did anyone else get a chance to try the demo for Mechanicus II? What did you all think of it?
I have some gripes I want to get out of the way first
<They changed the voice acting. It's no longer binharic chant or techno bleep-bloops. Instead, it's just basic voice acting but with some techno filters added on. Very forgettable. This is the case for both the Mechanicus and the Necrons
<Guillame David is doing the soundtrack again, but there was really only one good track available in the demo so far, at least in my opinion. All tracks have a lot of 'ambience' to them which makes it hard to navigate to the 'good parts' in each track. I will at least say that he hasn't lost his touch when he is allowed to go all-out. I'll consider this a tentative 'con' since the rest of the soundtrack may be much better but not available until the game fully releases
<The necron lord you play as is female, but I suspect there will be multiple lords to pick from. Screenshots suggest you will get to pick multiple tech magi to pick from, so I suspect it'll be rather similar
<Mechanicus/Skitarii seem to have a huge advantage over the necrons, especially since you can only activate re-animation protocols once for each unit, once they die again, they die forever. All units have very low movement range and also very low sight range. I was left way too open from Skitarii rangers when playing as necrons. Hopefully the other units absolve this.
Now for the good
>When the soundtrack gets good, it's really good, as expected
>Graphics have improved
>Gameplay improvements as well, such as being able to select which unit you want to play first each round. You don't have to wait for their turn, so-to-speak, unless you've already moved said unit
