PlayStation 6 reportedly locked in for 2027 Anonymous 10/10/2025 (Fri) 12:33:36 Id: ef5842 No. 1834453
Within 18 months, the current gen will be over. https://archive.ph/0QIeh This follows Mark Cerny, PlayStation architect, discussing their next-generation hardware plans yesterday, mp4 related.
>>1834453 Just in time for Rockstar to double dip with GTA 6. And the normalfags will no doubt enjoy buying the same game twice, and then a third time on PC.
>>1845087 by that logic the PS1 and PS2 have no games either since all got ported to PC
>>1872702 Are you insinuating that the PC singularity is a bad thing?
>>1872978 no but PCs are really fucking expensive. gaming is on its way to being a boomer hobby with how expensive things are getting. you basically need to spend $5000 if you want native 4K at 60s at maximum settings, and that's WITHOUT ray tracing. how the fuck can people afford that shit is beyond me
>>1873094 >you basically need to spend $5000 if you want native 4K at 60s at maximum settings, and that's WITHOUT ray tracing. That depends heavily on what you're playing, you can get a sub 1k setup for the same resolution and framerate depending on target titles
>>1873094 You aren't playing native 4k at 60FPS on console, so why bother getting a pc like that? If you aren't interested in playing new shit, you can build a great pc for cheap and play anything from the 70's through the early 2020's.
>>1873106 almost all modern games are unoptimized trash so you basically need a 5090 for them to play at 4K60 max settings >>1873114 >You aren't playing native 4k at 60FPS on console who's comparing to console? it's the reason I don't play on console 4K is the BARE MINIMUM in 2025. 1080p is obsolete and 1440p is a gay cope resolution. the only real reason to play modern games is to look at shiny graphics, so no reason not to play at 4K60 max settings
>>1873114 Yeah, if you're playing at a desk then 1440p is the sweet spot, and if you're playing from the couch on a large-screen TV then 1440p upscaled to 4k is the way to go. You can build a decent 1440p machine that will run circles around consoles for about $1,000 easy, or buy one off the shelf for $1,500.
>>1873131 >4K is the BARE MINIMUM in 2025. 1080p is obsolete and 1440p is a gay cope resolution. >the only real reason to play modern games is to look at shiny graphics, so no reason not to play at 4K60 max settings Oh, ok... you're not being serious at all. Well nevermind then.
>>1834453 I hope playstation as a brand goes up in a ball of fire like xbox. Fuck 'em, they've been doing retarded shit like not having the full JP audio track on US homeports for a long time. And it certainly didn't help when they moved their headquaters to california. i'm still mad about what they did to the vita and japan studios. i miss kat.

>>1873403 forgot pic.
>>1873403 Being fair to Sony; the Vita was a flop. You can argue that's due to bad marketing and an overpriced system, but it was a flop nonetheless and they had valid business reasons to cease support. The idea they sunk it intentionally is nonsensical.
>>1873436 Did the Vita failed because it's a good system or is a good system because it failed?
(52.51 KB 553x311 Pondering life.jpg)

>>1873522 It failed because Sony marketed it like shit, they were literally pushing COD and AAA shit on it for as the main appeal for this on the West for fuck sakes.
>>1834532 >Why? Because the PS5 has been an incalculable catastrophe. The install base is so small that snoy has lost basically all of its biggest exclusive feeders, even Square Enix is out. You could release GTA6 right now as a PS5 exclusive and it would flop guaranteed. >>1872978 it is a bad thing it's the same argument for why weed shouldn't be legalized from a pothead pov if snoy and microshit start getting away with selling games for $100 a pop on PC (and they can) or whatever other retarded bullshit they come up with, what the fuck is Steam gonna do?
>>1873436 I think you're retarded, don't speak about things you're completely ignorant about. What happened with the Vita is directly tied with the American branch of Sony taking control of the company, it was clear sabotage and this has been shown numerous times in discussions about this topic on the board. The Vita was the equivalent of what happened with the Sega Saturn but for Sony.
>>1874801 >if snoy and microshit start getting away with selling games for $100 a pop on PC (and they can) or whatever other retarded bullshit they come up with, what the fuck is Steam gonna do? Who fucking cares what Steam does? If people don't want to pay $100 and the industry collapses, well then sucks to be working in the fucking industry then doesn't it? You can always just buy better indie games instead, pirate it, or wait for a sale. Those "$100" AAA slop titles always end up in the bargain bin in 6-8 months anyhow. If some retard is a hundred dollars lighter in the wallet every time "next product" comes out, then it's no skin off of my nose. Not like the sales price has any effect on the quality of the title anyhow - unlike loot boxes, battle pass, and other GaaS mechanics which actively shit up the game so that you're inclined to pay out more and more in order to make the game slightly less shit.

>>1874889 >If some retard is a hundred dollars lighter in the wallet every time "next product" comes out, then it's no skin off of my nose. I can't believe there's still people who think like this where the fuck have you been the last 15 years? World of Warcraft used to get dogged on heavy for having a $13 sub fee on top of having to buy the game, now it has: >Buy Game >Buy expansion >Buy Sub >shop with cosmetics >shop with mounts >shop with pets >shop with toys >Legal multiboxxing (buy more accounts or you cannot engage in gathering and crafting in any meaningful way) >Legal RMT <Let me repeat: Legal RMT that the entire fucking game revolves around You know why it's like that right now? Because gook games did it and got away with it. When Black Desert locks you out of grinding unless you buy $500 worth of pets, and gets away with it, every suitfag in every other company looks at games that would otherwise be ok as they are and goes "Hey, why aren't we doing that?" and that's why Blue Protocol which died due to its shop (and gameplay) being garbage, came out again with slightly better gameplay and the shop is now EVEN WORSE than what it was before. They didn't even see it as a problem because they see others getting away with worse. Look at Square Enix, all they make is moviegames (with mtx) and gachashit that would've been outdated 10 years ago, they're like that because Genshit Impact made $4 Billions selling 1 character for $350 despite having no playable content for 4 years Assassin's Creed sells you weapons and currency for real money. In a single player game. what the fuck are you even talking about? It's fine if the entire industry crashes and burns because what, I can still pay $20 for a roguelite 2D sidescroller with a """nostalgic""" pixel artstyle that would've been free on Newgrounds 15 years ago? Let me guess, it's actually self aware and a brilliant metanarrative on videogames as a storytelling medium because the author is an art school dropout who trooned out at 24 and thinks he understands Twin Peaks and can reproduce it? Or what, it's a total nostalgia trip that does nothing at all to be fresh or interesting, like the 500th boomer shooter I've seen this week? Nah, pass. People should not be allowed to have a cash shop on top of a buy+sub model, or to sell mtx in a single player game. The state videogames are in right not is already beyond the pale, that's why Nintendo can fuck you in the ass with a $10 fine for owning a Switch 2 on every game and people will still happily buy Donkey Kong and Pokemon ZA at $80, at least these games aren't designed around a fucking cash shop, making everything tedious and obnoxious so you'll just give in and swipe.
>>1872978 A PC singularity is not a bad thing. However a steam one is, and that's what we have. Steam needs to die for a healthier PC environment unlike what we have right now with them as a defacto effective monopoly with zero incentive to improve and instead they keep wasting time and money in shit nobody gives a fuck about like the deckard instead of making it so their fucking client doesn't lag to shit due to being a glorified chrome instance with a coat of paint.
>>1873137 I'm only telling the truth. you think people actually play games for """fun"""? lmfao
>>1875054 >a PC singularity is not a bad thing I disagree personally. PC's hardware cycle is more fucked than consoles. Companies making games for PC are increasingly and intentionally putting pressure on consumers to upgrade to the newest yearly overpriced GPU upgrade, thats not even mentioning shit like what crypto in the past and AI in the future will do to prices and supply. At least with consoles you had to wait about 6-7+ years before a new one could try to rape your wallet. Plus the fact that the OS situation for PCs are fucked, it's either use the privacy and UI nightmare that is Winjews or jury-rig a solution on loonix that has less compatibility in terms of software, and works poorly on Nvidia products which has the overwhelming market share (and by extension, the best support from games) for GPUs.
>>1875139 both platforms are completely fucked nowadays consoles >cheap entry, but way mor expensive in the long run (paid online, more expensive games, overpriced accessories) >ultra-locked down hardware >worse than PC low settings. at least when the PS3/360 were new they were equivalent to high settings on PC >hard stop when support ends. no more games fro your hardware. PC >expensive as fuck if you want 4K60, specially now due to overpriced GPUs and unoptimized games >most games are console ports >have to be tech savvy to fix problems >requires shit ton of spyware to install >HAVE to use Steam for some reason despite the PC being an open platform >HAVE to use a desktop that no non-gaymer uses since iGPUs are now good enough for everything else. desktops take a shit of of space
>>1875139 >>1875167 PC isn't completely depedent on newer games so it's still good
>>1875498 For more than a decade I've heard only 2 good arguments for buying a console and both were situational. One was from wifecucks and the other was from traincucks.
>>1875498 Its cheaper to get an older console of choice and mod it than it is to pay for those faggy incomplete subscriptions
>>1852538 Not in this timeline.
(523.01 KB 680x767 Kojima Pretend you won.png)

>>1875498 >All the games Barely anything considering the massive library available. >Even the Xbox has backwards compatability with games dating back to the original Xbox Also lacking tons of games >For a small fee It ain't small (unlike your benis) and I ain't paying
>>1875574 Anyone with a brain hacks their consoles. >>1875549 Then you've been looking in terrible places. Emulation for a lot of non-Nintendo consoles was poor for a long, long time. Getting a console and hacking it allows you to play every game available on it without having issues with shit like compatibility that comes with emulation, or just bad PC ports. Even now many of these emulators only reach about 70% compatibility of their libraries and that's after a lot of development and effort, let alone what it was like, say a decade ago. As someone who isn't retarded enough to get into this tribalist bullshit between PC and consoles and enjoyed both my entire life, its fucking embarrassing to see the damage that has been done by this "PC Master Race" meme where people who call themselves gamers somehow don't know that nearly every console can be hacked and you can (usually) play their entire libraries through piracy. Reminds me of that nigger on reddit who destroyed an OG xbox devkit to make a custom PC case for upboats.
>>1836216 the age of exclusives are over anon, sooner of later nintendo will also put their games on PC. if sony can't compete on hardware, better to stop making it and focus 100% on games.
(54.58 KB 474x600 media_E7G72yIXsAMmhQH.jpg)

>>1955199 >sooner of later nintendo will also put their games on PC Nintendo will probably go back to being the cheaper option and gimmicks before that happens. I honestly don't see that happening before true virtual reality is birthed and then even longer for people to figure out how to make good games with it. >if sony can't compete on hardware, better to stop making it and focus 100% on games What games? All their good shit is dead and all of their interactive movie games are finally failing.
>>1955199 ff6 and chrono trigger are on pc already
Do you think the PS6 will focus more on games? Current Sony leadership apparently considers all the PC ports a mistake, and plan on only shipping GAAShit to PC in the future.
>>1852538 >5 better >can't even upgrade brakes on GT5 Nigger, what?
>>1955283 >brake upgrades the only thing more expensive brakes do is cool themselves down better (because they are bigger), they dont make you stop any quicker unless you constantly fade them and cook the brake fluid and thats not modeled in game so brake upgrades are pointless
>>1843910 >I mean, PS3 didn't have Gravity Rush But, anon, Gravity Rush 1 and 2 were PS4's only good games.
>>1955269 >Current Sony leadership apparently considers all the PC ports a mistake A single rumor by a twitter nobody
