EA lays off hundreds, over 100 at Respawn alone; cancels upcoming Titanfall game Anonymous 04/29/2025 (Tue) 20:40:52 Id: 3f6441 No. 1287688
The Titanfall game was the leaked extraction shooter, not a big loss. https://archive.is/VBrzN >“As part of our continued focus on our long-term strategic priorities, we’ve made select changes within our organization that more effectively aligns teams and allocates resources in service of driving future growth,” Justin Higgs, a spokesman for the Redwood City, California-based company, said in a statement. The article goes on to speculate this is because of EA's terrible fiscal year, FC 25 and Veilguard singled out as particular painful duds.
>>1287688 >EA cancelled a game I do not give a fuck about because another two games I do not give a fuck about flopped Life's good.
You now remember all the gaslighting about Veilguard "TOTALLY NOT BEING A FLOP GUY REALLY WE MEAN IT" UK BOXED CHARTS
>>1287688 >cancels upcoming Titanfall game least titanfall doesn't get anymore molested with a current year apex 1.5 game..

rookie numbers
>>1287688 (checked) If EA could get the ubishit treatment and crash and burn, that would be great.
>>1287688 >EA actually does something based for once Just let the series rest. Respawn is a very different studio nowadays and I don't want their filthy fucking hands touching the series ever again. There is 0 chance they can pull off anything as great as 1 and 2.
>>1287688 I have it on good authority that most game industry layoffs are because of AI. But if AI is saving so much money, why does everything still cost the same? Why are dev salaries falling while CEO salaries are skyrocketing?
This is amazing news.
Is Titanfall 2 that good? It's on gamepass, I may try it
>>1287748 When will developers learn not to do picsreel.
>>1288027 Genuinely a good game. Give it a try in the campaign at least if you feel like it, but please don't treat it as a corridor shooter a-la CoD and blame the game when you're meant to be zooming wall to wall. Learn to slide hop at least and your enjoyment will increase by a lot. >>1287918 >But if AI is saving so much money, why does everything still cost the same? They're firing people because the tech bubble is still deflating after covid. And also because their recent releases have been a total bust. The only thing that tech has a lot of attention and investment in currently is AI, all other fields are pulling back a bit. But anon, that kind of thinking on technological efficiency will make you start wondering how the hell we have technologically improved in literally all fields since the 70s and yet our prices keep on rising for everything, it's just not AI. We produce more than ever in all aspects of our lives, yet, there's so little return. Different people will have different answers and blame different things for this. All of them are true, just in differing degrees. Even the commies, if at least slightly misguided.

>was an extraction shooter set in the Titanfall universe
>>1288090 For Titanfall should I use a controller because of movement or keyboard and mouse because of shooter?
>>1287918 There is a court case, Dodge Bros. vs Ford. The outcome of that case explains everything.
EA will not learn from their failures and will continue to act stupid after this sacrifice. They're too rotten at this point.
>>1288153 you want KB&M. Some of the movement tech is a pain to pull off on controller
>>1288172 Good, let them burn
>>1288433 the current system is not too far off from slavery >your owner (boss) doesn't have to pay for your food and board >plenty of jobs that pay starvation wages. sometimes you end up paying to work even (relocation, gas, work-related expenses, college/trade school loans) >huge number of people living paycheck to paycheck. one unforeseen setback (e.g. car breaks down) can set off a catastrophic chain of events ending in homelessness (loss of job->missed lease payment->eviction) >long hours. plenty of people are left with like 2-3 hours of free time for themselves at the end of the day (to shower, cook, do the laundry, hit the gym, etc.) it's only a few steps away from sweatshop labor, which itself is almost synonymous with slavery

>>1288498 See? This is why we need 3rd worlders to replace you as the new workforce! They don't complain!
>>1287918 And I have on good authority that they do this just to inflate their stock numbers. If you fire a lot of people, suddenly your costs go down, meaning your profit goes up(in the short term), meaning that investors are happy and stocks go up. It happened to me in the auto industry, only that I was an external, so I got assigned to a different project after a few months. But isn't that short-sighted and dangerous? Yes, but stocks go up, and next year they can hire those people back and impress the stockholders with more employment growth, and numbers go up again. It's a circus.
>>1288016 They'll be actually good only when the executives step down.
>>1287918 >why does everything still cost the same? >Why are dev salaries falling while CEO salaries are skyrocketing? why are you answering your own questions?
>>1287918 why the fuck do grocery stores expect me to both check myself out AND pay for the fucking bags after they got rid of all the cashiers and baggers. its just greed and if you keep supporting that shit its going to keep happening. I press 0 bags every time
>>1290973 >Old enough to remember never needing to get out of your car to get gas Our society is a pathetic shadow of it's former self that boomers and Gen X retards are desperatily trying to keep afloat.
>>1291027 >>Old enough to remember never needing to get out of your car to get gas Oh so american gas stations weren't always weird like that. I always found it strange that movies never had any one pumping gas at gas stations and characters always seemed to do it themselves
>>1291046 Full vs Self serve no one full serves anymore - white people dont want the job because youre "pumping gas" which is akin to flipping burgers. the indians who run the stores now dont give a fuck about service (cant refill the fucking receipt tape either)
>>1291046 There used to be a law in New Jersey that you had to let an attendant pump gas for you. Not sure if it’s still like that.

>>1289864 Jack Welch was the guy who invented that process in the 80s when he was CEO of GE. Fire a fuckton of employees and close business units to make the balance sheet look prettier, and the stock price would pump like crazy. It worked for them in the 80s and 90s, but long term led to cutting good people, a loss of direction, and their stock price stagnating after the dot-com bubble burst in 2001. Nowadays, GE is a fractured husk of itself, split into 3 successor companies whose stock prices haven't outpaced inflation.
>>1291100 Oregon was like that as well until very recently
>>1291081 Dumb kike. Whites don't want to work for sub minimum wage when you keep inflating the cost of living.Whites also don;' want to be harassed by your brownoid pets at these min wage jobs.

>>1287688 Good. Blah on Titanfall.
>>1291939 i didnt do anything though
>>1288498 i'd say it's in some ways worse than slavery because slave owners at least provided for their slaves asit was in their best interest to keep their property in good condition
>>1288027 Yes, Titanfall is a very underrated series that is actually really fun to play just on the movement alone, I even had a lot of fun in multiplayer even though i hate shooting pvp games. just zipping around try to shoot other people was fun on it's own.
>>1287688 sad that your dev team can be doing fine and suffer the consequences because another dev team owned by the same publisher wants to throat tranny dick and virtue signal even if it loses the company millions of dollars. then again every dumb nigger dev that signs with EA/Activision deserves what they get. >>1287918 because CEOs/executives are greedy parasites that suck up the majority of the profit something makes. this is why they want to push for AI so hard, they want to absorb those savings. this is true of any advancement. remember when Steam was taking off and we were told that digital only was a good thing because even though we don't own our games anymore they would be cheaper??? yeah and now you have to pay $90 for Tetris on the fucking Nintendo Switch lmao. >>1288090 the economy is fake and gay in every regard, like creating the conditions where mass immigration is "necessary" when it's just done to create more rubes to put at the bottom of the pyramid scheme. things are made shitty to break on purpose because then you have to buy more, more get manufactured which stimulates the fake and gay economy.
Glad to see that no matter what happens, some things never change
Look like this might be the start of the titan's fall
(655.08 KB 1580x1538 1429078984491.jpg)

>>1288090 The corporate greed at the top is the issue. A friend of mine works full time in the US at a international scale welding company, yet he's homeless living in hotels/in his car. The upper management pockets 3 times the cost of all machine worker wages combined despite there being significantly less managers. Also the company is turning a net profit of ~12 million dollars every single quarter after all expenses. Meanwhile the workers are kept at poverty wages juuuust slightly too high to qualify for gov't assistance. The fish rots from the head.
>>1294265 Carlos we're going to feed you into the auto welder you fucking brown piece of shit I swear to god
>>1292104 I like Leaflit. Not going to watch vtuber content beyond the occasional clips, but anyone who can field strip and maintain their firearms is OK in my book. Is she Roof-Korean American?
>>1293642 >he economy is fake and gay in every regard That's why we must return to the gold standard.
>>1294374 She's some kind of jap/latinx hapa
(38.74 KB 545x650 life cycle chart.png)

>>1287918 >Why are dev salaries falling while CEO salaries are skyrocketing? The natural life cycle of a bureaucracy/corporation, I'm afraid.
(113.58 KB 1600x900 Sam Rodriguez.jpg)

>>1291046 That's just it, I'm not American Europe imported that shit from the USA in the 90s. Those jobs were gone in the USA by the 70s >>1291081 >white people dont want the job because youre "pumping gas" Lot of good that kind of elitist bullshit did! Now the whole of the western hemisphere is jobless whites and imported shitskin slaves! You need a fucking resume to be a fucking garbage collector now.
>>1291100 It is.
(35.74 KB 636x464 What were they thinking.jpg)

>>1287688 >The Titanfall game was the leaked extraction shooter Why do they keep pushing a game mode that no one fucking wants?
>>1336526 They're just hoping to find the next big fad. The typical attempt at capturing lightning in a bottle, instead of just allowing the devs to make a good game.
>>1336550 Like even journos can't muster the energy to shill for this trend.
>>1287688 >Titanfall >FIRST PERSON SHOOTAH INNIT MATE Another failed live service game binned. Superb.
