There seems to be a lot more activity lately. I hope people won't mind some (really) late replies.
hopefully shouldn't matter since the threads still pretty slow, right??

Man, I honestly didn't think they would last for this long, considering the last few times they tried to come back, the thread would die pretty quickly. I do wonder why Selenanon chose to start them up again, and why now of all times.
But I really like what
>>1586312 said. There's an implied trust and honor code with relays, and I like the feeling of working communially on the journey towards that final boss. Fire Emblem
is fun to talk about can be sometimes fun to talk about, and relays allow a natural place for discussion. Like I only participated in the early chapters of the Conquest relays, and even then there was some room to discuss and plan for pairings and skill routes. And look, if an anon requests me to work on the Nyx Niles support for pet project Shining Bow Nina, by heaven's horse of course I'm doing just that.
On the other hand though, there was definitely lots of negativity. Without mentioning the griefers, there's been some cases of anons getting into shouting matches and moments of hostile backseating. I can't really put anything definite to paper, but I feel like the tail end of the relays back in March or so got pretty bad, maybe something like people getting fed up with repeated attempts on the games that haven't been cleared.
With mentioning the griefers though, it's a shame they ruin so much. Even the new relays have already been griefed a few times now. And it's just so baffling. Like, they're already spending (wasting) all that time playing Fire Emblem chapters, so come on, is it really too much for them to just actually play honestly? Apparently it is.

I only found out about this place after 4 went back online after the hack. I kinda lurk both places now. But yeah, I've also been following the relay threads on 4, and sometimes they really do be at the mercy of jannies and griefers. I have suggested moving the relays to a slower board before so they can survive easier, but idk. At least there's been more activity here.

Awakening. I really liked playing Robin in Smash Bros Wii U despite knowing nothing about him. Eventually saw a used copy of Awakening on sale and thought why not. I remember when I first started it up, I ended up staying up way past midnight because I couldn't put the game down. I hadn't played much tile turn-based strategy games before, and there was so much in Awakening for me to explore. Characters were fun too. I eventually beat the game on Normal/Casual after grinding my units to absurd levels, and I haven't played it since.
That was the end of my FE experience, until years later. I hate to admit it, but it was Mangs and then eventually feg that lead me to play a few more of the other FE games(gba/Fates). The relays have made me put FE4/5 on the list to play someday too, due to mentions here and there of Kaga insanity, and one of the romhack relays had capture which was super fun to play with.

It's pretty hilarious how often this question keeps getting asked. 'Scrimblo' originated as a Smash Bros meme making fun of people who want their obscure platformer guy to make it into Smash(the original tweet was something like "Smash Fans when Popular McJRPG guy makes it in and not Scrimblo Blimbo the Scrunko"). That term kinda got adopted to other places(Tumblr), used to describe a character as 'an endearing little guy.'
In the context of its usage here, more specifically the ironman relays, scrimblo kinda ended up being used to mean a non-meta unit that you like to train. It also could be used as a verb - scrimbloing a unit(i.e. excessively feeding a unit). Characters like Rebecca from 7, and Sophia or Wendy from 6 are probably the easiest examples, units that are not good but people train them anyways because they're cute or whatever.

I'm glad that the speed of this thread has increased a bit the last few days. The previous thread here felt painfully slow, while the ones on 4 were fast but often with little substance. Hopefully this thread continues to maintain that momentum, because it is pretty comfy at this speed.
it kinda reminds me of feg/pre-Engage. . Multiple attachments are also kinda nice (although it feels somewhat superfluous). I do find it a shame that it doesn't have an archive similar to arch.b4k.dev that lets you see deleted posts (or at least I haven't found one).
