20 years of F.E.A.R Anonymous 10/17/2025 (Fri) 18:11:52 Id: 89328b No. 1854305
HAPPY BIRTHDAY F.E.A.R NOT A SINGLE GAME LIKE YOU STILL

>look it up >Release was october 18th. >I live in a country that is still in the 17th. I am early but what ever. F.E.A.R is by far my favourite FPS of all time and I am here for it. I have made a tradition of playing through the game once every october. Been doing that since either 2012 or 2013. So I played it for my first time after some guy on halfchan posted a link to a pirated russian copy. Looking back that was a really risky bet to take but it worked. Then one summer I decided to run it through again for fun. I think all in all I have either played it 13 or 14 times through. By far the one game I have completed the most amount of times. Best mom in gaming

More Alma.
>>1854317 They're decent enough shooters, but don't expect 1s level of atmosphere and quality, they're shitty blockbusters with 3 having more streamlined gameplay and coop. FEAR 2 is a mess, especially at the beginning but later levels get better, due to better weapons, level design and enemy positioning, with actual encounters instead of linear levels with braindead AI. Not enough to fix the terrible art design, tone, atmosphere, anemic weapons, writing and a slog of a first half of a videogame unfortunately. The DLC is super short but way better. FEAR 3 is constantly quality throughout, but it's barely F.E.A.R at this point, the writing takes a backseat, you have coop and actual good guns. Overall, a much better game than FEAR 2 People bitch about FEAR 3 not being a FEAR game, but FEAR 2 is a terrible FEAR game, so I'd rather have more of 3 any day. As for the expansions packs for FEAR 1, absolute play Extraction Point it's better than the original in many ways though weaker in some areas like writing. You can safely ignore Perseus Mandate unless you really want more FEAR, it's a really shitty mod rushed out the door before Warner Bros completely took over the IP from Sierra at the verge of bankrupcy.

I will never forgive the Koreans for making F.E.A.R. online. >>1854317 Its weird how none of the sequels are remotely as good as the first. Extraction point is a 10/10 Perseus mandate is a 7/10 2 is a 6/10 3 is a 6/10 Online in an abomination to god. Thank Christ you cant play it anymore.

Urban decay, gray skies, cold atmosphere... Wish more games had this setting.

>>1854360 Play STALKER >Already finished it Play STALKER mods >>1854359 >Its weird how none of the sequels are remotely as good as the first. Not really >1st was passion project by a bunch of PC FPS veterans from the 90s >2nd was a console spinoff repurposed as a mainline sequel with most of FEAR team gone after the Warner Bros buyout >3rd was corporate mandated console game made by the devs of Fracture (remember me?) I'm just glad Warner Kikes Game Studios is getting the axe soon, completely butchered Monolith and F.E.A.R >>1854362 God, I fucking loathe F.E.A.R 2
>>1854381 >most of FEAR team gone after the Warner Bros buyout Were they the massive weebs?
Reminder to all niggers to use Echopatch that fixes 99% of problems on modern systems.
>>1854615 Aye, why most of that influence is gone in FEAR 2 >>1854852 I'm replaying it with this right the fuck now, thanks anon!
>>1854615 Going by that one secret area near the end of the game, yes.
>>1855067 You mean the Shogo tribute room? That's not at the end, more like the mid game.
>>1855568 That’s in Extraction Point The first game also has a Shogo Easter egg but is almost at the end before entering the vault, is a secret room with a radio that plays the theme song from Shogo. https://youtu.be/Q_kKZghwD7I?t=15095

>>1854305 >It's been 20 years. >within those the years, the shitty sequels were released, and then the studio was shut down a few months ago. I want off this ride.
>>1854305 Does FEAR have jumpscares? I've been thinking of playing it for the season. I never played it when it came out because I'm mostly a pussy with horror games. Best I can usually do is STALKER.
>>1854305 what? no... no thats not...
>>1854305 >NOT A SINGLE GAME LIKE YOU STILL I feel Underhell got a bit close, but that's never getting finished. Trepang2 sucked, both as a fear clone and just in general. I really disliked it outside of some music tracks. Haven't played selaco or anything else but I doubt selaco will end up good considering it's one of those paid doom wads.
>>1854334 Since you've played it so often, ever do a no slo-mo run? The game expects you to use it, so if you choose not to do it you really got to be on your toes.
>>1854346 >>1854359 Many thanks anons. Guess I'll settle with the first one off GOG then. 80% off. Could be my spooky game of the spooky month.
>>1858562 I have thought about it. Thing is while i think I can do a run like that I dont really want to. It would be a lot of corner peeking and playing carefully instead of going balls first.
>>1855657 No, I'm talking about that room in the first game, I enver even knew Extraction Point had one. That's at the midgame I'm pretty sure.
>>1856009 Underhell is nothing like it, it's very unique. >I didn't like Trepang2 I enjoyed it quite a lot, but it's also not F.E.A.R outside the some concepts, way more agressive gameplay as well.

FEAR is great for its hot psychic incest The interactive environments and character designs are neato too.
>>1861109 Nothing psychic about it, it was in vitro
>>1861153 Didn't't Alma fug one of her sons?
>>1861156 No, actually play the game
>>1861159 I probably should, maybe I'll marathon through the series around Halloween
(192.42 KB 717x568 234234235345.jpg)

>>1861159 Should’ve told him she did, ugh, so dumb. Now he’s never gonna play them, retard.
>>1859534 >That's at the midgame I'm pretty sure. The room is found in "Interval 09 - Incursion - Lapdog" level before entering the vault and before Mapes gets shot. https://youtu.be/Q_kKZghwD7I?t=15095 >>1861156 Alma rapes Michael Becket, the protagonist of F.E.A.R 2, he is unrelated to Alma.
I only have a single shooter so far and this game is surprisingly easy to run even on a toaster laptop like mine. Should I give it a shot? I only have The Citadel as my current FPS game I actively played.
>>1863894 Just installed it too. Haven't played it in years and this >>1854852 works great.
>>1863894 You know to be honest with you I cant remember if you get the expansions with the game or if you have to buy the bundle. I am fairly certain you can just buy the first game and get both expansions. https://www.gog.com/en/game/fear_platinum GOG has a gold edition which for sure comes with the expansions though. I recommend that instead. I wouldn't recommend getting the steam bundle unless you got a friend to play fear 3 with.
All right, I got it. Do I need to apply the echo patch to all of the games or just the first F.E.A.R only?
>>1866172 The patch is only for the first game and the expansions.
>>1866177 Alright, thanks for clearing that up. Will I need something similar for the other ones or are they good on their own?
>>1866181 FEAR 2 gave me issues - I ran Steamless on it and than ran Large Address Aware, fixed everything. If Extraction Point gives you issues even with Echopatch, do the above on it (through Echopatch). If it still gives you issues, run it in Windows Compatibility for XP. Can't comment on FEAR 3, not played it since it came out.

>>1866436 I've only gotten 2 hours on it so far and it's really fun and the visuals aren't too bad. Runs at a decent 60 fps and the only visual issues happen when I'm facing the wall for too long cause some odd shadows or whatever you call those visual errors but for the most part it's fine. Enemies get me every now and then on moderate difficulty and the horror seems more on the sounds design and visual setting rather then the jump scare. The calm after combat's more unnerving then whenever the ghost loli pops up anyways. Especially knowing she's trying not to hurt you on purpose. It's pretty challenging and a fun new experience especially since the game doesn't mind you looking around especially for med kits and reflects enhancing packs. Little bit that I like the most is that there are no pop ups or indicators that tell you to go to a specific area, game gives you the skills and info to figure shit out and where to go on your own.

>>1866733 >Not wanting a huge arrow covering half the screen telling you where to go
Hopefully there's a HD remaster released someday (that's handled well instead of like so many others) which fixes all the performance issues that require mods to fix.
