I've been posting too much so I'll avoid making too many posts from now on
In a way that is how this game presents it's dialogue. Pillars 1 was more like this post and Deadfire is more like more string of posts this thread, short digestible tweet-sized chunks. Not sure what to think about that.
I made it past the first area. Combat seems to be different, it's no longer resource based for one thing. Otherwise it seems to be the same, besides weapon modals and power levels (I do not understand this yet)
The artstyle change is quite noticeable. The modals look good, but I prefer the old hand-drawn maps to these new rendered ones, and I am running everything at max graphics.
The movement of the first game felt a bit awkward, with no option to center your camera when its lost and jittery movement. However, I would not say the movement here feels better.
It feels like there is inertia every time you move.
Voice acting is nice, but I feel like it's a waste when you have to read a lot of descriptive text anyway. It's hard to concentrate until the voice acting is over.
Not being able to scroll up and down the text log is a pain, I don't get why they made it like they did.
Xoti's accent is weird too, not what I would expect from someone of her... visage
