Post and talk about your favorites here. Try to keep it about pre 2000 movies because horror movies from the 21st Century are almost universally awful. Hell even mid 90's were pushing it.

GROOVY EDITION I recently finished the 3rd season of Ash vs Evil Dead. What was that about? Are they going to take the Mad Max route? Who was that robo-chick at the end? Wasn't Raimi planning on a new Evil Dead film called Evil Dead Now with Lee Cronin (i.e Who?) directing it? They said Bruce Campbell won't star in it so it will probably be shit. But hey, let's talk about the good stuff for now. Which is your favorite Evil Dead movie? I love 2 but Army of Darkness takes the crown for me. It's just so fun and features armies of living skeletons so that's a plus.

Jackie Chan movie? 02/03/2022 (Thu) 20:08:29 Id: 000000 No. 1102 [Reply]
Hello. (yes I know that ain't Jackie Chan, shut up!) Does anyone know the name of that one movie in which Jackie Chan went to some sort of dimension, mountain or something.. or whatever the case might be - he fought some person dressed all in white ( I think), and that person had god-like fighting skills.. basically making Jackie Chan look like no one.. I am surprised I cannot find it (based on images I looked from IMDB for example), can anyone please help me? Have a nice day! :)

You were right.. thank you, anon.. there is a white-man-within-a-mountain fight.. damn I was so close But believe it or not - I have watched that one in the past, an it is not that movie, unfortunately :( there's another one.. The movie was kind-of cringe... SPOILERS: one moment the stones make you fly, the other - Jackie cannot save his friend from what seems to be liquid lead, whilst having the stones to make you fly, in his hands lmfao.. overall - not bad movie.
The man was old, and had a beard I think, and they fought with like all kinds of weapons, and none mattered, as that man was invincible.. perfect martial artist.. :d

Wheel of Time - Please kill me edition Anonymous 11/22/2021 (Mon) 22:51:11 Id: c46291 No. 988 [Reply]
I have watched this shitshow so you don't have to. I come back transformed and eternally mad the Amazon jews decided to sully another of my favorite book series. At this point, my eternal hatred is the only thing keeping me sane. Here a few of my takes: - The show opens with the Red Aja sect of the Aes Sedai pursuing a man who can use magic. In the lore, the men's side of the source of magic is tainted and every man who can use magic become irrevocably crazy. Since the men's side is effectively more powerful, a mad mage is fucking real danger and the women mage (Aes Sedai) pursue them to protect them and the world. The last man who got mad with OP magic "broke the world". - The Red Aja Aes Sedai say something about magic being meant for women and that men shouldn't use it because it is theirs, but men can't use the women's magic, it is just for some grrlll power bullshit. - The main characters are in their 20s in the movie but 15 in the book. Perrin, who is black in the show, is married to an aryan white woman but it is pure fanfiction. - Bel Tine, the celebration in the village at the start is for spring, they changed it for some 'remember the dead' bullshit, I don't know why. - One of the effect of the Dark One awakening it that Winter doesn't let go, they just didn't portray this. - They waste a whole episode on the background of the Two-Rivers but nothing is in the fucking book, pure fanfiction there again. Especially everything about the village's Wisdom and the Women's Circle. You can guess why. - They are weaving some complicated romance between two character that just isn't completely there in the book. Yes there is tension but the fact they must run for their fucking lives make it so they don't have time for this. - They missed a character, one of the most important, and introduced him in episode 3 in a village that doesn't exist with two people that shouldn't be there in a situation that it again pure fabrication. - During their escape, they use a river crossing boat that they sink after to not let the Trollocs catch them. In the book the river passer is mad as fuck and Moiraine juste pay him more. In the show he babble about his son or some shit and then jump in the water and drown for no fucking reason. - They mixed up the escape, in the book they escape to a city called Baerlon, stay a few day, Nyanaeve catch up with them and then leave. After Baerlon they are forced to take refuge in Shadar Logoth, a spooky city with weird shit. In the show they skip immediately to Shadar Logoth but with missing characters what happens don't make sense. - In Shadar Logoth they try to flee but are separated by the spooky death mist, in the book they flee while being pursued by the Trollocs, this is why they go out at night in the spooky city. In the show they omit the pursuing Trollocs and Eyeless so it makes no sense. - A super important plot point in Shadar Logoth is that Mat, the resident Pippin, meet a stranger who convince try to convince the kids to take a treasure. Since they are fucking 15 years old kids they don't mind the stranger danger but Mat still steal a dagger. It will curse him and become important because of the stranger. In the show he finds the dagger in some rubble. - Since they are missing characters, the order and teams in which they flee is all mixed up and then we get to episode 3 with the village that doesn't exist and the situation that is completely made up. Theyre they encounter Tom Merrilyn, the bard, but he should've been there since the beginning. This is on the top of my head. By fucking it up so bad I don't mind it as much as before, they just did their own fanfiction bullshit. The books stay superior, read them and never watch that trainwreck. I just hope they make it to the Seanchan landfall, these fuckers don't tolerate mages and use them as weapon by treating like dogs. It was a chapter full of mindbreak and humiliation for the captured Aes Sedai and it sent me on a sadpanda binge back then.

>>990 So I went to see in the books and couldn't find anything about age. It might have been how I imagined it because these characters can be retarded sometimes. I'll let this point slide.
You know for the longest time I felt like I kept having deja vu since this series (The Wheel of TIme) would crop up alongside A Wrinkle in Time, and both were popular book series when I was in school turned shitty live action adaptations. Not surprised they both turned out shit. From what you say OP it sounds like either a very rushed production or it was just produced by someone who didn't know/care about the source material. >>992 It's incredibly common for live action actors to be way older than the characters they play. They probably just went "fuck it" and figured it's easier to write the characters in as the same age their actors are/look to be.
>>996 >The Wheel of Time Wait no A Wrinkle in Time fuck you see what I mean

This was surprisingly good and more faithful to the book than I thought it'd be for the couple brainless woke choices that got made. I went through a B movie phase when I was in high school, though I dropped out because they were (nearly) all horrible. This whole "it's so bad, it's good" rarely ever plays out. I'll list some memorable ones (maybe B movie, or maybe films forgotten over time) in case someone out there also suffered the same fate: Teeth (2007) may not be a B movie, but maybe it is. If you want nightmares of your dick getting cut off while having sex, watch it. Otherwise, pretty much feminist garbage. Poultrygeist (2006) is pure degeneracy (and Jewish comedy) at every turn. Watched it shortly after it came out and never touched it again. Meatball Machine (2005) I actually remember liking. But it's been years, so who knows how it stands up at this point. Splatter: Naked Blood (1996) was mediocre at best. I think about the only reason you watch this movie is to watch a woman gradually consume herself. Kids (1995) or anything from Larry Clark and/or Harmony Korine. At least, up until the early 2000s - after that, I guess Korine got some commercial success since he did Spring Breakers (which was also shit). I don't know why I stuck to watching Gummo and Ken Park after watching Kids because they were all shit. I guess since it was constantly recommended and I was some dumbass teenager with no backbone, I thought I was the one who had no taste. But no, they're all trash. Remo Williams (1985) was great. I watched it a few times in high school. I should rewatch it at some point in the future.

ITT: Post obscure theories about films that you subscribe to Anonymous 03/14/2021 (Sun) 06:31:29 Id: 58bc0b No. 414 [Reply] >>417 >>715
So I have come up with a pet theory I'd like to post regarding Star Wars. Before I get into it, I'd like to mention that I only consider episodes 1-6 canon, so I absolutely do not give a fuck what the books (old canon or new), comics, or video games do to contradict what I'm mentioning. One line that stuck out to me that people regard as a plot hole is the description of Vader's belief system as an "ancient religion" whereas the Jedi order collapsed only a generation prior. While the most rational explanation is that when the OT was made, they did not have a single clue what happened one generation prior, I think there's a way to rectify this line so that it's not a plot hole. That is, the spiritual beliefs espoused in the Qui-Gon Jinn line of Jedi is not and may have never been the orthodox spiritual belief system of the Jedi or of the Sith. Forcism may be some ancient form of animism that more materialistic explanations have overtaken over the course of a very long time. As proof of this theory, I have two arguments. 1) Nothing said by any non-Jinn line Jedi (except maybe Yoda, who is old enough to have taught Qui-Gon or one of his predecessors) indicates that anyone else believes in the Force in the same sense Obi Wan taught about it to Luke. In the prequels there is a distinct lack of spiritual discussion of the force. I believe this implies that true belief in the Force as anything other than the manipulation of midicholorians to make light sabers travel across distances is nearly extinct in that era. 2) There is a very useful power that we never see any non-Jinn line Jedi use in the canon films, that being the jedi mind trick. This power is highly distinct from the rest of the Jedi/Sith power sets, which to my mind indicates that it may be not accessible to the more materialistically-minded Jedi. There may be subsets of what are commonly understood to be Jedi/Sith powers which are actually reserved for members of the ancient forcist religion. In summary, because the canon movies revolve around the Jinn line, I believe there is a severe conflation in the fanbase between aspects of the heretical and mystical ancient cult Obi Wan inducted Luke into (and that Anakin continued to follow even after parting from his mentor) and the actual orthodoxy and power-set of the majority of Jedi and Sith. pic unrelated, I don't want fucking Soy Wars shit on my computer.

One thing I always found interesting is the strong theme that The Jedi Order is corrupted by the time of the prequels. In interviews and such, Lucas seems to not intend this at all, but in the films themselves, it works so well. Of course there is the bit where The Jedi are turned into a military force, which is acknowledged as being wrong within the films, but then we also see them make multiple judgements that are incorrect, and since they're prequels, we know they're incorrect as they make them. Anakin IS the Chosen One, he does bring balance to The Force, but Yoda was going to disregard that and not allow him in. Qui-Gon, a hippie spiritual type who disregards the letter of the law in favor of its spirit, could sense further ahead and saw that, even though he would do terrible things as Vader, he ultimately still would fulfill his destiny. And not only does he end The Sith, but he also ends The Jedi, as if both were corrupting The Force. And given that we see the Jedi were corrupted, this makes sense. By the end, Luke is the only one left, but he didn't even finish Jedi school, and the Jedi school he dropped out of was obviously not the type that the Jedi Order used before their downfall. Not only was he older, and Yoda had to teach him in unorthodox circumstances, but by that time, Yoda seemed to see and learn from some of his own mistakes as well. Whatever Luke is, he is not the same type of thing that the characters of the prequels were, except for arguably Qui-Gon. Of course, the fact that Qui-Gon was an influence on Anakin is important as well, and a large part of what saves the day in the end, but the fact that he wasn't able to train him fully himself resulted in Anakin being corrupted by Jedi who were themselves already corrupted, notable Obi-Wan. Obi-Wan was better than most, due to his training by Qui-Gon, but was shown to never fully get Qui-Gon's teachings, and thus still had a bit of the corrupted, bureaucratic influence of the Order in him, and then this results in him being unable to properly train Anakin. It's not because Obi-Wan is a bad Jedi, he's better than most, but training Anakin was always going to be an extraordinary job, and while he did it well enough to save the day at the very end, it resulted in a lot of messed up stuff in the middle (Darth Vader). When Obi-Wan says that he failed Anakin, he might be hard on himself, but only a tiny bit. He didn't do as well as Qui-Gon would have done, even if he was second best. But of course we can sympathize with his very difficult situation. >tl;dr: The Jedi Council was corrupted by bureaucracy and itself needed to be destroyed, along with The Sith, to bring balance to The Force, and that's precisely what Anakin did. Vader destroying The Jedi was actually the will of The Force. They, like Anakin, had good intentions, but were flawed, and their destruction was ultimately good. In the end, there is no organized religion dedicated to messing with The Force, for good or evil. Both take it out of balance. The movies seem to actually establish this quite well, but in interviews and such, it's like Lucas doesn't even realize he did it. >>414 >the description of Vader's belief system as an "ancient religion" whereas the Jedi order collapsed only a generation prior. This isn't complicated. It was ancient even when it was still practiced. Ancient doesn't have to refer to when it ended. If anything, in almost all uses it would refer to when it began. >Yoda, who is old enough to have taught Qui-Gon or one of his predecessors) Yoda did teach Qui-Gon, not to mention Obi-Wan. This seems like something that was almost a plot hole when they introduced Qui-Gon, until they established that Yoda teaches the younglings. >>415 >Much like how Leia claimed to remember their mother's face in Episode 6 I can buy that this is just a vague memory from birth. That's believable, especially in context. >>416 >Why doesn't everyone use a droid army?

>>414 >The prequels are honestly fine, just lacking subtlety. The prequels were an utter failure when the Clone Wars that Obi Wan talked about was just about a bunch of cloned dudes fighting robots and not people duking it out with cloning technology like in The 6th Day. It would made have so much sense more sense why Vader ended up in the Gimp suit and had such a bitter outlook on live, why technology decaded ect. The type of story one could have told with this kind of setup would also be wastly different then this shitty politics plot we got instead.
