Japan is Remaking Cube Anonymous 02/02/2021 (Tue) 01:25:49 Id: 73afdc No. 331 [Reply] >>2235 >>2239
Apparently the long rumored remake of Cube got shunted over to Japan. Given their history with torture porn films, this could either be a blessing or a total disaster. Either way, I think I'll have to watch it. Source: https://archive.vn/lO0Fm It's coming out this year, too, so it may have already been filmed.

JJ made buffy and clearly should be for TV instead of film, as his structure for story telling works better with TV like he did with Lost than anything short term. Purely so he can not reveal any mystery boxes he opens up until the finale. Ryan Reynolds on the other hand mostly plays himself in everything. >>1361 A big part of this is superhero films forced a lot of his time in recent times. Before that he was working on thrillers
>>1357 But he appeared in Fortnite to personally advertise The Rise of Skywalker and also to play a message from the movie not heard in the movie, only in Fortnite.

who likes ghostface from scream? Anonymous 07/16/2022 (Sat) 14:36:43 Id: 415e00 No. 1379 [Reply] >>1763

WHASSUUUUUP?
>>1379 I like the original Scream and Scary Movie. Scream 2 was bad, and the series took a nosedive from there. If you like the original Scream, watch Urban Legend. As far as I know, the director for it was passed up after the studio secured Craven for Scream.
I like the first one. Scream is much better at the time it came out when it was one of the only satires. Every other piece of media is trying to be like Scream with how meta it is, which made it lose it's main identity. I think that is why the more recent scream movie that came out tried to be more serious, since sincerity has been lost with modern media. It's always trying to be normalfag enough so people watch it but away from the crowd. Hopefully the next film is more gory/intense. Ghostface himself really depends on the killer using the mask. Before it became well known, the mask was a normal mask which had a level of realism. It's sort of lost due to how popular scream got, but it's a nice element.

>>86 Phantom of the Paradise is ingenious. I love how Paul Williams takes Winslow's "Faust" and makes a bubble-gum-pop version with "Upholstery". I often break out from "Upholstery" into "Faust" because of that chorus. https://www.yewtu.be/watch?v=dJcH1bj53aE

Oliver! from 1968 is a great musical. "Who Will Buy?" has been stuck in my head ever since I watched it, but every number seems to fit into the film well. Not to mention the choreography is wicked good. https://www.yewtu.be/watch?v=XihLS-jA_Dg

Another great musical is "The Music Man". Please, if you watch a film adaptation, watch the 1962 one with Robert Preston. The one with Matthew Broderick is a clear example of shoving a falling star into a film to hopefully sell a few tickets. My personal favourite is "Gary, Indiana", but every song is memorable.

Movies so bad you couldn't even finish Anonymous 10/15/2021 (Fri) 12:40:46 Id: a1bd84 No. 907 [Reply] >>2186
I really was looking forward to a long ass unrelated-to-the-series treatise on race relations in 1960's-70's Newark too, shame they had to stick those few scenes related to the Sopranos in there.
14 posts and 5 images omitted.
>>914 Gandolfini completely prevented him from watching the Sopranos because Gandolfini put all of his anger at his life, the position of Italians in society, etcetera into his performance. He watched it for the first time during filming for the movie, hence the subpar acting. Michael, the kid, had never seen his father act this way in real life, so he was playing a man who he had never met with the face of his dad. It would be like an actor's son playing an actor after his death, but the son never knew the actor was a well known active homosexual.
>>999 >>1000 I would rather watch any Adam Sandler than the Matrix, same with Harry Potter, both are overrated snoozefest flicks. The only entertaining thing they caused is the drama outside of production.
>>907 I'm still appalled that Twilight was a phenomenon. There is nothing redeeming about the movie. No one on the production team wanted to do and the cast went out of their way to make everyone look as boring and unlikable as possible on purpose, yet it's still a sensation in some circles. What do people even see in it? I've been dragged into watching it by the "so bad it's actualy funny" crowd but they must find watching paint dry humorous because I ain't laughing.

Buyfag Thread Anonymous 05/21/2022 (Sat) 06:41:52 Id: 32621b No. 1256 [Reply]
So you want to buy some physical media. No, you don't? You just want to pirate? That's understandable; >Why would I want to spend money on movies when piracy is free? The big studios don't deserve money for the garbage they put out, but we are living in a golden age of physical releases, and they need to pay for sourcing and restoring films somehow. Consider the following: <4k Blu-rays can capture most of the detail of 35mm film <UHD releases are becoming fairly common <Streaming has become dominant, and rights to old B-movie distribution is cheap if they handle the restoration. <Film prints are only going to get rarer and rarer as they are lost, destroyed, or deteriorate Preserving these releases is important, and the opportunity will not last forever. >Where can I buy from? There are many common outlets to purchase these releases from, and each has its own niche. Criterion - focuses on high-brow and arthouse: https://www.criterion.com/ Vinegar Syndrome - mostly restoring grimy B-movies and smut: https://vinegarsyndrome.com/ Shout Factory - mostly TV show box sets and B-movies with occasional foreign releases: https://www.shoutfactory.com/ Arrow - UK label that might have overlapping releases with the others (because they get the Euro distribution rights) and has a good mix of both B-movies and older mainstream releases: https://www.arrowvideo.com/ Kino Lorber - has a lot of independent releases including newer titles: https://www.kinolorber.com/
