Like Wagie said, purely attention whoring, it would take them quite a while to get proper sprites and data on new features, so it would be a pointless waste of time, but pointless waste of time is Jan's MO.

Nice read and sadly that ended up being my opinion as well, holy fuck does the moon and the abyss suck, the game is basically forcing you to make very specific choices and pick very specific Pokemon to get through fights, which just makes them tedious, saddest part is that I believe that's intended given the shitty memory fights very often completely shit on creativity and force to make a boring and dull test of trial and error, with the solution often being extremely esoterical.
I didn't beat the game before, only did so recently, but even I can tell the champion's team was buffed to hell and back, meanwhile Missingno by the very nature of it being a gimmick fight has to be very flawed, otherwise it would be insanely unfair. Like you said as well, a lot of the mechanics were changed in baffling ways and the exploration once you get past the curiosity phase to see if you're missing something is just shit, especially given new areas are often gated by UTTER FUCKING BULLENSCHEISSE as is the case with the queen's garden, the moon and the abyss, this game excited me before because I thought there was more, like true to the gen 1 Pokemania spirit, there was some cool secret I hadn't yet figured out, but nope, the game is actually bafflingly simple with just hints that there might be something, without there actually being any payoff to it.
I would have given the game an 8 before the DLC, if for nothing else because I appreciate what it was trying to do more than anything else, but after the DLC and the abyss update, I can't bring myself to rate the game even above a 5 and I'm playing on normal, I wouldn't dare put myself through the slog that is Perish.
>looking back fondly on reborn while playing this
Understandable, so was the main dev I think considering the points I already brought up about the ripoff characters that just don't belong, Reborn has a lot of secrets and interesting things that actually delivers on good gameplay that feels satisfying up until it falls off for a bit when you leave Reborn city.

Redditors are unironically too stupid to experiment with early routers most of the time.
