English doesn't really have a specific term for close friends who started dating. Mars is taunting the two heroes, so it makes sense that she would try and use the term lovey-dovey to make Dawn and Lucas' relationship seem frivolous and silly. And since they are kids, she could also be trying to embarrass them by calling them a couple.

Compared to Platinum this game is objectively shit.
