Do you plan to continue watching Hololive after these graduations, or will you be following the Indie scene more?
>>157895 Also nice henya the genius picture What a great kettle.
I dont really see a reason to stop.
>>132729 While I may like anime, I do not care for Japan, its culture or its language. I started watching Kizuna AI because I thought it was really cool how she moved and her 3d model moved to match her, including even her face. The only reasons I'm learning Japanese is because it's useful for IT and I found this cool Japanese Beekeeping channel that teaches about bees. The language is only interesting as a comparison to my own. I do not care about Japan, it leaves me as indifferent as knowing that the sun will set today and rise tomorrow.
>>129996 (OP) I was watching virtual youtubers before HoloEN and will continue to do so as long as there are fun streams regardless of graduations.
If she goes to Twitch then yeah im not following her.

>>129996 (OP) Yes to your first question. If I follow some ex-holos after they graduate, would I be following the indie scene more if I only follow their the only "non-holos" I follow? If the answer is yes, then yes to your second question.
>>129996 (OP) I already watch smaller corpo and indies, but my oshi is still in Hololive, so I'll still watch.
>>161361 a bit of a strange stance to have. much of anime is rooted in Japanese culture. that's a lot of the reason that anime is how it is in the first place. though admittedly I've noticed that this is becoming less true lately. particularly it feels like anime and manga that don't have much to do with japan directly are more common and more popular than they used to be. still, it almost feels like a contradiction to like anime but not care at all for Japanese culture. in my case, I'd never want to live there or even visit if I'm being honest, but I still think it's cool
The age of vtubers is over. Now is the time of getting head irl.
>>129996 (OP) Yes. I will keep watching Hololive. And I will watch Phase Connect. And I will watch indies. My love for Hololive is not deterred by my love for Gura, my love for Gura is not deterred by her graduation, and my love for vtubing is not deterred by the separation between them.
>& & who?!?
>>129996 (OP) I never got that attached to buy merch while I do mostly for smaller Vtubers because stuff feels a lot more personalized at that level. Really easy to get parasocial so I try and remind myself every time about that and set limits on myself. I got in Vtubing pretty late and really only watch Biboo and IRys only occasionally so Hololive is only getting my view mainly. I have watched some VODs for the others but they never grabbed me but I do understand why people liked older members when Vtubing was still a novel thing. My only slight regret though still is getting attached to Niji for a bit before it imploded in spectacular fashion. But I did get my kamioshi from that time so yeah. >>169369 Going off topic but mainly the issue here is that Japan has lost ground and purchasing power for animation with paying too little and outsourcing too much and China is retaking its place as the leader in Asian animation where they made the first animated feature film in Asia with Princess Iron Fan and subsequently lost their lead after being bogged down by world events. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iExwO1v_V

Japan is doing some pants on head retarded stuff with how they fund animation and their culture and the fact that means that China is steadily moving away from funding anime to funding donghua or Chinese animation not to mention they are adopting tech like CGI and AI to reduce costs on an even more fundamental level. So yeah, might not happen that soon but medium term, it is bound to happen unfortunately. I already watch mostly older stuff I missed because of how bad the modern Japanese anime scene is for the most part.
That graduation stream was great, if she was a 3 view nobody. Dogshit and half assed for what was the face of the industry.
>Do you plan to continue watching Hololive after these graduations As long as FWMC and Ceci are around, sure. Also curious on what EN5 will be. I will I don't watch those girls because they're holo, I just like them.
>>178329 & (You)
>>178000 Vtubers owe me head irl
>>129996 (OP) Only her. Everybody else is either annoying, not entertaining enough, or just not funny to me.
I've already been watching indies well before this year's conga line of Hololive graduations. That's not going to change. I dont have any interest in keeping up with Gura's roommate though; with how little she streamed even before Hololive and with how inactive she was in the company, its safe to say that's just who she is as a person. Bless all those chumbuds that'll follow her thinking this time will be different, because 2 months in they'll get the same treatment as before.
>>182195 I thought the reason for Gura streaming so infrequently was dissatisfaction with Holo Live's overbearing idol-lite culture. I never followed her but I've heard that explanation several times before
>>178649 well I know Japan as a country has been struggling generally as of late, but when I say Japanese culture, I mean things like traditions and norms. that sort of thing feels pretty intertwined with much of anime, at least up until many more recent ones. the actually business of anime has been in a terrible state for many years at this point.
>>182377 I'm not sure how much of a factor that would play into Gura not wanting to stream. Because it's not like this was a direction nobody saw coming, outside of members like Matsuri and Coco it was very obvious what Hololive was going for pre-EN. It probably influenced her decision to an extent given her past as a drunken loli, but I thought something like game permissions would play a bigger role. That and concerns from Cover about whether what she plays would be "bad for marketing". The only thing concerning is whether or not Gura will get back on the bottle when she's gone from Hololive. Or if she was already heavily drinking around 2022 and that's why she was constantly absent.
>>182488 Didn't she explicitly say that she was absent because her anxiety (due to expectations, imagined and real) would get so bad that she had to go to a doctor? I haven't followed her back when she was active as Sen, but I'm catching up, and in the streams she doesn't seem drunk for example. Was there a case where she was openly admitting to drinking? I mean regularly, I get her videos were almost always a drunken loli joke, but she doesn't have to be constantly hammered to make those, especially with how much time passed between them. In a couple of descriptions she also says she's not drunk, just retarded, though I'm not sure how much credit I should give that.
>>182400 That will continue as long as anime per its original definition is kept but as far as common perception, Western/Korean made stuff mimicking the artstyle like Avatar the Last Airbender and Netflix adaptations have slowly been eroding that definition and once anime fades from dominance from what I listed, common people will think of anime as just more like a style rather than animation from Japan. >>183498 This is why I heavily doubt she will return to indie Vtubing and if she does, it may be on a very touch and go basis and on her own schedule of choice. But she won't have expectations that was placed on her by being as popular as she was in Hololive.
>>183614 >people will think of anime as just more like a style rather than animation from Japan to be fair, I already mostly think about anime that way myself, but I still hold that position regardless. that being said, even though I say anime, I mostly read manga actually, so that probably colors my perception of how deeply rooted the media is in Japanese culture to begin with. last time I watched an anime was around 2022, so maybe anime as in animation specifically really isn't as "Japanese" anymore, and that's more manga now than before. guess it's just weird to hear
>>183614 >This is why I heavily doubt she will return to indie Vtubing She clrearly likes streaming and creating silly content. She likes singing also, which is why her carrier started as the shark, basically. I'm not saying it's a hunderd percent, but it would make sense for a person to continue what they like. With more inconsistent streams, it would be easier for her to handle the audience as well probably, and the different type of content would probably filter less degenerate fans too. So on whether or not she starts again, I'm a little more optimistic. >and if she does, it may be on a very touch and go basis That would be a good thing for her, since it would be harder for the audience to follow her. I'm not entirely sure if you meant that this would be a bad thing, but overall, I think it would be good for her, and her content itself.
>>129996 (OP) I removed all my Hololive subscriptions. While I don't think the company will ever be as evil as NijiEN, I no longer trust them to do right by their girls, and the way things are going, it's only a matter of time before we have an Aster incident or worse. No "change in direction" can possibly be worth losing so many top talents, let alone the face of vtubing that is Gura. The company is no longer sane.
>>183614 >>184567 You don't have to stream to be considered a Vtuber. She could very easily be a traditional youtuber who only uploads let's play videos with the odd monthly karaoke/members stream. Alternatively, if she really wants to filter her fanbase all she has to do is debut a Chibidoki/Rin penrose style anti-coomer model, announce that she's a dating/married and make her first gameplay series Split fiction with her partner on Twitch.
>>130345 >zen >girls And matara just got fired lol
>>183498 It wasnt the anxiety of just streaming, it's the anxiety of "Your words represent the company and our investors and corporate sponsors and if you make one joke we dont like or say one word wrong there'll be hell to pay"
>>188869 Yeah, that's part of the "expectations" I was talking about. The corpo environment definitely wasn't the best fit for her, all you have to do is look at her old content versus what she did as Gura. Then again, it was kind of a dream come true for her in a sense, but maybe not exactly how she imagined it.
>>129996 (OP) I stopped watching right after Coco left. Gura's graduating was the first Holo stream I watched in 4 years.
>>189544 Dang it's weird to have threads last more than a day I forgot I posted in here already.
>>183498 Yeah, catching up on the Holotalk she did say that the pressure fucked her up to hard to where she had a hard time getting food down. It's ultimately not much more than my personal rrat because I don't have anything but circumstantial evidence at best, mostly hypothetical otherwise. Like there was only streamclip archive I could find of Senz where the title said "Drunk stream" and she said in the 5 minute mark she was a lightweight. But she didn't sound tipsy really compared to her 2020 New Years stream as Gura. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bUbzWfPOMnI

>>130050 True. I'm still mostly a JP side fan being 35p. But I'm also a pebble and part time/merc Rosarian. I knew Senzawa first back when her song "Ok boomer" hit the chans and first boosted her subs overnight. So I will be doing indie Senzawa now that Gura is gone. I won't be following her twitch stuff tho, she has to have her stuff on youtube or I will only catch up via clippers since I don't have the time now.
>>189925 In the 2020/2021 stream she only sounds drunk in the beginning, but as soon as she gets called out on it, she dials it back, making me think she just likes acting that way, although she did admit to drinking a single glass of champagne. To me it feels like she was more hype than drunk. I guess without hard evidence we will never know, but despite her old videos, from the streams she doesn't hit me as a hardcore drunkard, not even close.
