It's borderline political, in all honesty.
In all areas of society, you can mistreat males endlessly without much repercussion, but any slight against females can easily become a federal case (literal or figurative).
Boys and men have been the butt of jokes in media for decades now. Doesn't matter who the target audience is.
Any brother/sister combo is almost sure to have the sister as the more dominant and capable one, doesn't matter the age difference between the two. This is frequent in kids shows and I noticed it very young, but it's in every target age range too.
This trend in media has been then reflected in social media from its very inception. Vlog moms will post fucking anything about their male child, full details, even pics and videos (and there used to be degenerates on the first 8chan that would curate this shit). But whenever their precious little daughter has some issue, they still can't help but use it for attention, it's just that they almost exclusively cover it with care and sensitivity, in obvious contrast to how they utterly humiliate their sons all across the internet when that kid probably doesn't even have the faintest clue it's even happening.
Who knows what the cause is, probably pedo fags in Hollywood writing out their fetishes into every bit of media they create. Doesn't matter. All I know is the effect is clear.
It follows with the unwritten "you're not allowed to hit girls even if they hit you" rule. Men's issues aren't recognized and women's issues are given the spotlight.
What you see in this thread is just part and parcel.
