Speaking of Nine, her storyline almost writes itself. Like, a flashback to her life being discarded into the slums being an Infected; life is hard, but she makes friends and builds a strong trust relationship with the people there — just to have them slaughtered right in front of her by the black raincoats — she fights to save them with all her strength but against the black raincoats it’s not enough. This leads to an emotional crisis which leads her to abandon the civilization of Yan forever to support her true soulmates in Reunion — that kind of vibe. Not “I’m infected now I guess I’m with Reunion lol”.

They were RIGHT to try and get rid of an Infected population, just like every major nation on Terra does one way or the other. It’s clear that being Infected means more than just having disease, it’s that they become stringently aggressive in wanting to overthrow power, to cause damage, etc. Look at Lungmen’s Infected population — they were treated better than most do, at least they had homes and weren’t constantly being dumped into the wilderness or sent to the mines to die. Result? Literally joined forces with an external terrorist group in a mass insurrection. Remember that not even ONE Infected reported this happening to the authorities. Whatever causes it, there’s a REASON why getting rid of Infected is common sense on Terra. Maybe it was something programmed by Priestess?
