Learning how to draw in 6 easy steps Anonymous 03/15/2021 (Mon) 17:58:18 No. 1991
>What is the purpose of this thread? The point of this thread is to establish for people the foundations of what is required in order to become a great artist. The people this thread is best aimed at are those so-called "experts" wanting to get back to the basics, or newcomers wanting to know how to start their journey towards becoming an artist. >Does the "six steps" mean I will become a great artists within the week? No. The purpose of the "six steps" is to establish a foundation for all art and drawing. You're not going to become an expert overnight because drawing is a skill that you need to develop over time. However, it's pointless to constantly bang your head against a wall for hours on end because that will do nothing except burn yourself out and become frustrated. To put it one way, it's a better learning process to spend 10 days sketching for an hour than spend one day sketching for 10 hours. >So, how does the "six step" process work? All you do is spend 15-60 hours everyday, drawing each successive step of the process. That's it. >What happens if I miss a day You just continue on with the next day as if nothing every happened. Spending double the time is not going to make up for the day that you lost. >What if I just don't feel like doing it one day? If you don't "feel" like it, learn to work through it because what you're doing is building a habit. If you're still having a "hard time", just get out your supplies, and set them up as if you were going to still practice. If you're still not "feeling it", perhaps drawing isn't your thing and you need to find a new hobby. >How was this process developed? Referring to resources that other artists have recommended in regards actually learning how to draw. So, here we go...
>>3542 Cool to know it's just for fun, comes out in your art being somewhat playful. I would say it certainly looks like you've been drawing for less than a year qualitywise.

>>3542 > I don't care that much about backgrounds, they are boring so I just draw some trashy hidden references instead because if I don't like what I have to draw I wont draw it you dropped this
>>3548 lel
>>3547 >I would say it certainly looks like you've been drawing for less than a year qualitywise. I couldn't draw that in a million eternities, stop being so hard on him.
>>3704 Anon is just butthurt that the drawfag called the guides dump garbage lol.
>>3704 You can and you will fgt
>>3704 Considering he implied a significant portion of the drawing was traced what mistakes there are such as the copy pasted pattern on the hem of her dress thing not following its form suitably stick out more and become more pronounced.

>>3708 I swear I don't trace anon, I just copy bodies from real pics or doujin and draw my character/clothes over it. and yea, I overlayed patterns on the clothes to give it a cool feeling
>>3854 Not bad but for the love of all that's holy PLEASE resize your files a bit fella
>>3854 I can see where the complete lack of fundamentals is hurting you, but hey if it works it works. More power to you guy.

>tfw too fucking lazy to do it Honestly I don't think I can without a class to be obliged to force myself. >>3855 This and also please upload more loli feet thanks.
>>3854 >25MB jpg Unholy
>>4231 >also please upload more loli feet thanks. enjoy pixiv. net/en/artworks/92780898
>>6668 >human anatomy except with animal sexual organs Thanks I hate it
Kind of a schizo thread but at least it has a good attitude
>>1991 >15-60mins a day Alright, starting next week I am trying this. I made progress on learning moon runes with just 15mins a day, so why not drawing too.
>>6674 Anon, I hate to say it but he said 15-60 hours. An obvious exaggeration, but the more time you can spend the better... unless you feel like you're just spinning your wheels endlessly.
>>6675 >the more time you can spend the better That is just my way of getting myself into the rhythm of things. Start off with really small time investments then once I get into it more, I can put more time in. I've noticed if I start out trying to force an hour+ a day learning whatever, I'll quickly start viewing it as a chore and not something that I want to do for fun which will kill it for me.
>>6674 My wife has tried this method for the past two months and the improvements she made is terrific. However, your best bet when hitting an art block where you don't achieve any further improvements is to try and draw something completely different from what you're trying to learn. Like switching from faces to still life for a week.
It's always funny that these hop from drawing shapes into the human figure to me, since I'd rather draw scenes first before worrying about populating them. Will probably start in a few days either way and still incorporate some days of anatomy because of how ubiquitous it is.

how do i draw a cock with realistic balls and cum?
>>6966 Very carefully
>>6966 Study lots and lots of cocks. Look at cocks every day. Copy cocks you see in the street, on the computer, on TV, at home. Copy your own cock, flaccid and erect. Buy a mirror and look at your cock. Look at cocks from every angle. Look at pictures of cocks. Look at videos of cocks. Look at cocks doing things: cocks moving, cocks entering holes, cocks exiting holes, cocks being bent, cocks being pressed, cocks being pushed and shoved. Study cock fighting. Look up cock dissection videos and learn how to cut up a cock. Teach yourself French and Italian. Study the production and ejaculation of cum from the cock and the balls. Think about cocks on walks. Think about cocks every day. See cocks everywhere: on the walls, on the floors, in a tree, in shadows. This shadow looks like a cock.
how do I get good WITHOUT drawing for hundreds of hours?
>>7121 Sorry man you'll have to look at and draw cocks for hundreds of hours to draw good cocks
NO SHORTCOCKS

>>7121 It's understandable that efficiency would be desirable but it's impossible to tell what the catalyst of improvement will be at the individual level, learn to enjoy the process and accept that this is a potentially lifelong pursuit. You will accelerate your progress by having a positive outlook, freeing yourself of these anxieties and focusing on having a good time with recreational drawing and going through study materials at a reasonable pace. I still recommend the path in the sticky that focuses initially on manual dexterity (basically brute-forcing experience into your hands themselves), then observational drawing of figures nude and clothed, animals, anatomy and miscellanea, then perspective, plotting out realistic settings and understanding how the subjects contained within them relate. From there, the greatest prize of largely imaginative/constructive drawing from the mind will gradually become more and more attainable.
>>7121 The thing is, people who really love drawing will be putting a lot of time into it. There's no way around it, but if you love it this time spent usually doesn't matter because it's a part of you. The second thing is that given you are cognizant enough, you will be able to mentally chart "I am good at this and this, and this is what I need to work on" You can advance very quickly with targeted practice. My last advice is to make some effort to track your progress. Sometimes getting better might seem like it's taking longer or not happening at all when you aren't reflecting on what you're doing better. It's also very rewarding to progress things day to day or week to week. You could apply a schedule or just make sure you are keeping a record of art somewhere.
actually drawing something fully/constructing it is the WRONG way to draw from my observation. All the art I like on twitter is just pure gesture and soul, no anatomy whatsoever. Things like the hair will just be a couple of vague lines implying volume instead of properly rendered. Noses don't exist so they just skipped that page of loomis I guess. The only thing that studying and construction actually helps with is hands.
>>7204 There are a lot of different ways to draw. If more structured drawing isn't your thing, right now or possibly ever, that's fine. People fixate too much on details like that, fundamentally you should do what feels right for you. But construction does have a lot of uses, particularly if you want to do more complex rendering. A drawing might look solid until the time comes to light it, and at that point it can just fall apart if you're not able to abstract it into simpler forms. It's also good for certain types of caricature, if you want a more three-dimensionality. It's worth noting though that you don't necessarily need to draw the construction, many of those artists you love are likely visualizing it in their head to some extent.

Maybe these are useful to someone idk.
>>7278 Thanks, love all the little doodles you made to go along with the notes you were taking. Always fun seeing how other people take notes and how they actually compare to my own.
