>have to buy a new car >insurance, taxes, gas that costs a shitton >have to get something reliable, since I won't have the ability or the time to fix it >parents that are forcing me to get something new or newish, with a good mpg, better if methane or LPG, even if I'm paying everything by myself or with little help from their part it hurts /o/ I will have to settle with a simple Ford Fiesta, which is absolutely good, but I feel that I won't be really happy with her and maybe I won't even get a Fiesta, but something shittier

>>10934 >Going to look for something you listed Since you are euro you have a few more/different options. I think the Peugeot 206 is supposed to be a pretty decent shitbox. Other than that I don't know much about euro cars. You should be able to at least find some Civics and Corollas, though. >I can get a new LPG Fiesta for less than 7k€ Doesn't matter how cheap it is if it shits itself after 18 months. I'm pretty sure the Fiesta is the same car for US and EU markets now, but we have an ST with 5 doors instead of 3 so maybe more than that is different on the euro version. I doubt it though. Another euro anon can help you more than I. The bit about more expensive parts still holds for the (new) Fiesta and any other new car. You should still go with something older, even if it's an older Fiesta.

>>10934 also >I didn't know that 8/o/ could be so fast I think we may have gotten one or two more users from being in the featured boards list (someone went through and bumped a bunch of old threads), but we were only there for like an hour… Besides that I think there are about 10 "frequent" users, about half of which actually care enough to post their cars.
>>10935 I mean, I still don't know anyone IRL who had problems with a Fiesta, and I know a lot of owners
(44.76 KB 432x178 what do you think.png)

>>10943 Then forget that part or do your own research. New cars are still more expensive to maintain. In the OP you implied that you didn't want the Fiesta, so we are all giving you arguments against it. Now you sound like you want the Fiesta. Go ahead and get it if you want, no one said you have to listen to a bunch of anons on a dead Filipino spirit cooking board. Just please, for your own sake, do your own research and don't be an idiot.
poor baby has to drive a half free car, but it's not what he wants. Fuck off with that. We don't all get our dream cars in our 20s. You got to work for something if you want it, anon.
>>10944 accidental sage
>considering a new car
>parents that are forcing me to get something new or newish, with a good mpg, better if methane or LPG, even if I'm paying everything by myself or with little help from their part Why are your parents so dumb? Why are you too much of a pussy to tell them they're being dumb? >>10935 French cars are shit m8, very common to end up with faults that stem from poorly implemented wiring designs.
>>10951 >French cars are shit I have heard that, but I thought I had also heard good things about the 206 and thought maybe it was an exception. Just goes to show how little I know about EUDM cars.
>>10954 Peugeot basically pulled a Mitsubishi >hey guys, you know how we make great cars that people like? What if instead we make nothing but shit? and then they turned into the European version of Buick, where the only people that drive them are cranky old people (new car) and super poorfags on welfare (used car). I don't live in Europe and am only basing this on second hand information and that one Top Gear segment
>>10980 So your saying that the 206 is decent? Or that it's one of the first shitty ones they made? Or do you know? I know the 206 was popular in rally, so I assumed the road version had to be at least okay. sorry to sort of high-jack your thread, OP

>>10954 >>10951 French cars are actually shitboxes. You should only check small petrol 206 and Clio if you want cars that are somewhat reliable mechanically. They fail everything electronically though (I had both). >>10980 Peugeot actually made a nice looking 308 (pic related), but expensive like a Golf. So they are only bought by companies for their employees.
>>10984 The 206 is a shitbox, it sold in large numbers primarily because it was cheap both to purchase and insure. It rusts easily and like all french cars is extremely prone to develop electrical faults. The steering arms are also rather weak. It should go without saying but none of the cars you see on the WRC circuit have a damn thing in common with their roadgoing counterparts, hasn't been the case for well over thirty years if not more.
>>11010 >It should go without saying but It does. It just seems like usually successful WRC cars are also decent road cars. Correlation does not equal causation though. Thanks for clearing that up.
>>11013 >It just seems like usually successful WRC cars are also decent road cars. Back when rally cars at least had the chassis in common with their commercially produced cousins this is something that held true. One thing to keep in mind is that the high speed durifto around bendy dirt roads you see in rallying strongly favors cars with short wheelbases and low total vehicle weight, both factors that have a positive impact in general on a car's driving dynamics.
My wife and I decided to rent a car on Sicily island for a trip from Palermo to Catania. Dates of a trip are from July 21 to July 27. We are going to Sicily for the first time, and we also https://itunes.apple.com/app/cars-scanner/id1008401287 rent a car for the first time. I looked through a lot of information both on this forum and on others, but I didn’t really find the answers to our questions. I looked for a car in a mobile application. I cannot understand what is the difference of insurance included in the rental price 'Coverage in case of theft (TP)' and the amount of 1600 euro (theft) … the remaining two amounts of 1100 and 1200 euro I can justify somehow, but I’m confused about the theft.
>>18392 This is an advanced type of spam.
>>18392 protip: don't rent from a mobile app in Europe, it's full of scams.
Congratulations on necro of the last three years. Go to a rental office and ask there, mobile apps are a scam.
>>18392 Just ride a donkey like the locals, and quit being a turbonigger
Are there any good modern cars made after the mid-2000s in western markets, all that comes to mind is the Xterra, Frontier, Fiat Panda, Suzuku Jimny, and the XV40 & early XV50. I've been thinking about a Volkswagen but heard terrible things about Jettas and their other cars post-1980s.
(414.56 KB 1280x484 Golf Variant.png)

(386.58 KB 1280x484 e-golf.png)

>>18484 VW has the potential to make the perfect car. They already have the e-Golf, which is a electric Golf. Now imagine them cutting open a Golf Variant. Shoving all the e-Golf guts inside it with even more battery capacity because larger car. And releasing it to the public for reasonable price under 30k. That would be the electric car for the masses and sell like hotcakes. I want one just thinking about it. No fancy-schmancy Teslas or weird jap shit, just German simplicity, cheap cloth interiors and electric power. Good modern car? Probably Opel Movano for a van, Seat Ibiza for a car.
>>18486 >e-Golf >German simplicity
>>18484 Some Corollas after that point are pretty nice if I have the ge reaction I'm thinking of right.
