Not used directly, but heard about them a lot in different places; never for good reasons:
The platform has two main issues, and both are major red flags, since something that focuses on mental health like they do is never a good sign.
The first problem is on the therapists side, they have way too many steps for any professional to work freely and with their own methods, they force the psychologists to be only focused on a strict therapeutic way, and it requires a lot of relearning these new strategies that they enforce so those who work with them follow very similar patterns. This could be brushed off as a not so important issue, but it has a huge consequence: Many psychologists don't want to relearn a completely new therapeutic program just to work with a company, so the trained professionals that they have on board ends up being overly reduced and the overall work and stress from these workers impacts their performance, since they have to deal with higher workloads instead of just handling what they feel comfortable with and what they could more easily manage. Not to speak of a third issue, that exists primarily on USA since many of the psychologists who work with the company are from there: BetterHelp has been shown to add to their personnel unlicensed professionals just to cope with the overwhelming amounts of patients that they have.
On the client/patient side there are some important problems too, the most important one being the model that they use for approaching psychotherapy not having a clear defined end goal, the platform is willing and encouraging of people who spends years with them; they will never tell you that you got better, and that it might be better for you to not keep consulting since there doesn't seem to be any more issues on you (or important things to tackle for your proper development in your daily life, at least) so they could keep you there for years on end, resulting in a loss both of your time and money. The second issue, which should be no surprise when you take into consideration the points from the therapist side: You could be paired with someone who isn't apt enough to deal with you, and only after spending a lot of time you will then realize that the therapy isn't being effective.
With these things mentioned, I believe I painted the picture I wanted about them without mentioning some other problems that BetterHelp specifically has
the owner is a shady businessman, not someone interested in mental health; his last startup with a similar approach was shut down before and BetterHelp seems to be following the lead of that without being as problematic, but still keeping many useless traditions. Patients all over the world have sued them due to their malpractices, and they had as long as I remember three unresolved class A action lawsuits about said problems.
I would suggest you investigate some more before committing, and if possible seek the second wave of similar mental health online programs that have come out since BetterHelp and similar started. The most famous one is TalkSpace.
