Hey guys
I dug around and found some info and the logo of a recently canceled fan game based on Fidchell's Pokeverse called "Pokemon Sentiment" or "Sentiment: A.P.F.G. (A Pokemon Fan Game)."
It would be an adaptation of the controversial Kinetic Spirits novel/comic by Fidchell (along with), not as a continuation or a reboot, but rather a re-envisioning of the canonical events. The biggest change was the main character, Malgam the Eevee, being replaced by a regular human character.
Unlike Malgam (who is egotistical, demanding, brash, and overall unlikeable, who by the way, swallowed up an innocent Dratini), the human character is more good-natured, open-minded, laid-back, a bit giddy at times, and willing to go out of his way to help anyone who needs it.
Because of the human character's traits, the plot, although it follows almost the same scenario as Kinetic Spirits (except for the first book which was quite different), would've taken a more lighthearted tone. Not only that, the reasons behind the Sanctuary taking the human in as a prisoner would have been more believable and logical compared to Malgam's story (who simply just had him do chores for a week after literally eating and killing a baby pokemon). The reason comes from the sanctuary's distrust of humankind, believing the human protagonist came to disrupt and take away the peace. From this point, the human must gain their trust by going outside the Sanctuary and bringing back a certain amount of abandoned Pokemon. If he doesn't, the Sanctuary's leader, Ignatius, won't give the human back an item that is needed to progress the game.
The fan game would introduce what's called the "Companion System", in which the human character would recruit most of the Pokeverse's characters to fight along his side. This is linked to a dedicated button, the Help Command, which would have the human yell for help and trigger the companion to give him a hand.
Here are the planned companions:
>Sanctuary Companions
- Fleur (after gaining her trust)
- Sol (unknown methods)
- Puru (after aiding him from Alexeev)
- Oliver (after gaining his trust, which was pretty hard)
- Raphael (only if you didn't kill him before getting captured by the sanctuary, which is also required to get one of the game's "good" endings)
>Tidehold Companions
- Alexeev (only if you didn't reveal her true robotic identity, in which if you do, you won't be able to recruit her anymore)
- Gault (after "amusing" him during your trip in Tidehold)
- Justina (after "impressing" her during your trip in Tidehold)
- Umiko (unknown method)
- Iliac (after "impressing" him during your trip in Tidehold)
>Team Pyre Companions
- Bridgett (only if you convince her to join you)
- Seraphina (only if you convince her to join you after defeating )
- Keegan (only if you convince him to join you)
- Cassandra (after using a mind-controlling item to have her join you, which doesn't work on Vulcan or Craig)
There are also quite a lot of changes that the dev made in the Pokeverse, with the examples being:
- The vore kink present in the Pokeverse was entirely removed (due to the dev's distaste towards it)
- All 4 of Fleur's buneary children were going to be alive instead of having 2 remaining. (this was done to include a 4-player minigame that was brainstormed, which was a bit of a homage to the Pokemon Stadium multiplayer party games)
- Alexeev was planned to be a cyborg in disguise (which would play a part in the game's overarching plot, with the humans having something to do with it)
- The Kingdom of Tidehold was going to have a clear depiction of what it would look like, it would be an underwater kingdom surrounded by a gigantic air bubble connected by tubes leading from outside the water, allowing non-organic lifeforms to safely enter the kingdom.
- The events of Hildegard's Quest For Aura would occur in the fan game, with the human character taking the lead role instead of Hildegard, meaning that the Kantonian Legendary birds (Hestis, Lucile, and Fulga) were going to appear as major bosses to get the planned "true ending".
- Blitz/Craig would have been made as a single character and simply named Craig, who could change its two forms anytime instead of having two alter egos. This was changed for consistency purposes.
- The Pokeverse's location was planned to be called "Teva", which was supposed to be a region made for tourists before the "Chemical V Incident".
- The biggest change was how pokemon having humanoid figures worked. The game features a purple gas that acts similar to the R Gas from Detective Pikachu, with the fan game calling it "Chemical V". If pokemon get infected with it, they will permanently become hostile and will attack and kill anything they see. The game's antagonist (who was previously unrevealed before the cancellation) caused most humans to fuse with infected Pokémon, resulting in them becoming a single anthropomorphic Pokémon form. This would explain why most of the Pokeverse characters are anthropomorphic (fun fact, the fan game was originally going to take place 26 years after Detective Pikachu, specifically the movie).
Why did it get canceled?
Simply because:
- The dev had some issues with Fidchell after figuring out he’s thin-skinned, petty, and a bully (to which no one publicly said anything about for some reason).
- He found out about Fidchell's controversial history (which is quite deep and damning) and doesn't want anything to do with him afterward.
Nowadays, the fate of this game may be sealed but the game itself eventually transitioned into a more original game, even if it has a level that references the fan game (in which the dev said that he hates seeing the Pokeverse characters "go to waste" by someone like Fidchell)
