Happy 1447th birthday, Miko!
Any good commentary on tao literature ?

>>1841 So uh, Miko are wearing headphones right? For what purpose?
>>1847 Ear protections, the only thing that prevents her from being assaulted by lewd desires.
>>1847 She said in SoPM that they block out some of the nastier types of desires she prefers not to hear.
>>1842 "Those that feed on flesh are brave and daring but are cruel. Those that feed on qi [attain] spirit illumination and are long-lived. Those that feed on grain are knowledgeable and clever but short-lived. Those that do not feed on anything do not die and are spirits."
>>1847 It's her special ability to listen to ten people at once. You do not necessarily always want to listen to ten people at once. Ask Koishi.
(170.92 KB 1812x1019 img_1.png)

>>1850 So, qi is basically a straight upgrade from the stock, right? Is this illumination any good or is it another one of those "such a useless gimmick that it doesn't even deserve a downside" types of deal?
Remember when people thought TD killed the fandom with its underwhelming cast and it was the lowest point of the series? Miko is now more popular than Byakuren by a good margin and ranked higher above more than half the entire cast.
>>1856 Says more about Byakuren.
>>1856 I personally still prefer Byakuren (if mostly because of mommy milkers), but yeah, TD got a lot of hate back in the day. And to be fair, the cast really has shitty synergy - half of it is recycled from UFO, and the extra stage seemed more like a lazy afterthought rather than being integral to the story as it was for UFO itself. At least it's not HSiFS, I guess. Though I really wish ZUN would at least give Nemuno a cameo as he did for Narumi in Curiosities of Lotus Asia.
>>1858 Nemuno got a cameo in the fireworks festival, but that's about it, especially since she's not likely to leave home. On a side note, how many people even know that Nemuno's actual power is "creating sanctuaries"?
>>1853 Attaining spirit illumination strikes me as obtaining some of the ability to sense things in the way ghosts might be able to, like how Yuyuko could sense that the Hakurei god is angry over having much of its history forgotten. I do wonder if feeding on qi was more like code for feeding on mist, though. In that case, the benefits are supposed to be immunity to weaponry, temperature resistance, and flight.
>>1861 >I do wonder if feeding on qi was more like code for feeding on mist, though. Is that not the opposite, mist being an allegory for immaterial things ?
>>1862 Don't hermits feed on literal mountain mist?
>>1863 Yeah, even Kasen says she does it.
>>1858 TD Extra was created to support future storytelling, especially manga, more than its own game. That's kinda the entire purpose of Mamizou's character.
The fluffiest tail in the series !
Assuming Miko is, in fact, Prince Shotoku (or rather, the prince only was a cover identity because people wouldn't accept a female ruler), would Miko still be the mother of the historic Prince Yamashiro?
>>1867 I'd guess no, much in the same way Tojiko probably wasn't her wife.
>>1868 But Tojiko's a ghost
>>1906 She hasn't always been a ghost. Until a certain someone murdered her anyway. And for all we know, either she or Miko herself might have let themselves be knocked up by a male in order to produce "imperial heirs" (i.e, evidence for the illusion that Miko is male). Then again, it's equally possible Miko never disguised as the male Prince Shotoku to begin with, and the latter was just a later addition to hide the embarrassing fact that Japan was ruled by a woman. Though I'm not even sure the Imperial Court had that taboo in the same way the Romans had it.

(181.97 KB 610x775 Empress_Kogyoku-Saimei.jpg)

>>1907 Japan had Empress too. Miko literally took the position as regent (which she's known for) under Empress Suiko, her aunt, if we go by historical account, if I'm not mistaken. Tojiko's spellcard, Iruka's Thunder, is a reference to Soga no Iruka whose "ghost" believed to struck lightning to Fujiwara no Kamatari after the former was assassinated in front of Empress Kogyoku, as part of Kamatari's ploy.

March 5th is Miko's day too Because 3=Mi 5=Ko Though honestly, I feel assigning character's day based on the letter of her name or gimmick can get a bit awkward. I've heard cases of double and overlapping character's days, as well as days celebrated every month like Rumia's day.
>>2135 Yeah, that's pretty bad, lots of hus have their day every month, while some like Kokoro only have it once a year. Miko is a pretty clear cut case, though, her day is the 8th of April. Toho days should be assigned based on names only as a last resort if there are no other special dates associated with the 2hu or the myth she is based upon, yearly dates should take precedence over monthly both when assigned and when celebrated, and characters who share a date should go in turns. It's not perfect, but that's the closest 2ho religion has to a celebration calendar (playable characters' days should be holidays, by the way).
>>2151 What was that video? It's corrupted now.
>>2193 One of the greatest zoogurocp classics.
>>2193 Tried to post again but it's still corrupted. It's Harimusic live orchestra of Miko's theme. Appearently the owner and conductor is a Miko fan from his past Twitter description.

>The Taoist crew is older than Mokou Huh. You learn something new every day.
>>2222 Does it really count if they've slept through most of it?
>>2224 Yukari, you're just making this post so that you can have an excuse to say you're young for sleeping through everything.
>>2225 NOT! TRUE! NOT! TRUE! IT WASN'T ME AT ALL!
>>2222 Isn't it obvious? Asuka period is pretty ancient. Mokou's only been immortal for 1000 years at least. Some people in Gensokyo, especially notable figures like Suika and Kanako are way older than that.
>>2226 Your only remaining way to establish your youth now is showing you have what it takes to become a mother.
>>2226 [Kissu on Yukari's lips] [Pats her head] "Do you want to become a waif Yukari?
(134.96 KB 427x429 tewi rape.png)

>>2229 >[action text]
>>2227 Sure, but I always had the impression Mokou is one of the oldest characters that is not a god/youkai. >>2224 That only necessarily holds true for Miko and Futo. Seiga didn't go to sleep, and Tojiko may or may not have "woken up" and been protecting the mausoleum for all the time. Chances are Seiga planned this.
>>2230 Yeah I could still use greentext >Kisses Yukari on lips >Pats her head "Do you want to become a waif Yukari?"
>>2234 Mokou gets characterized as a no-good troublemaker because of how she looks SHE WEARS PANTS!!!1!1and her relation with the NEET princess. Even though in actuality, she's pretty seclusive for the most part and even helps the random passerby who manages to get lost in the bamboo forest. So that's why Mokou doesn't get the oldfag tag, she's an eternal delinquent.
>>2245 Pants are a sign of status. Only the most elite of touhous are worthy of this honor.
>>2263 Wriggle is elite?
>>2266 Shorts are worn by losers who wish they could wear pants.
>>2267 And undercover reporters.
>>2266 In a sense, she is an aristocrat with billions of followers.
>>2269 Especially undercover reporters. >>2270 She has the power to control their minds, so it's more like a queen and her simps.
