My esl showed.
Anelasma squalicola is a barnacle that parasitizes deep sea sharks. It evolved "roots" from its peduncle, and feeds with them instead of passively whipping food into its mouth with legs. Its body and shell have nearly totally atrophied from disuse. It is basically a crustacean plant that grows in flesh.

Doubt anyone will see but they captured a baby colossal squid, and just a colossal squid in it's natural habitat full stop, on video for the first time ever. Apparently it's already 30cm long even at this stage. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pucWd1ovz7k
Well shit. People actually posted in this thread I made. The GiantOarfish, also known as the the doomsday fish. In some areas of the world, these creatures are seen as being harbingers of bad news, particularly disasters or destruction. The legend is that if you see an oarfish, it is a warning signs from higher powers that disasters such as earthquakes are soon to occur. According to news reports, before Japan’s 2011 earthquake, a total of 20 oarfish washed ashore. Despite the title, these fish are filter feeders, feeding on krill, plankton, and other small crustaceans due to lacking teeth. It is estimated they can grow from 8 to 17 meters in length. Even though they live in the dark depths of the ocean, their bright silver scales act as camouflage, reflecting light if they happen upon patches of light to blend in with their surroundings. >>9 How would a shark even get something like this off? I can't imagine cleaning species of shrimp or fish living within depths? Especially since this parasite comes with a hard exterior, due to being a barnacle. >>57 The kraken is real....
>>57 Cute!
Maybe this counts
>>9 I think it's worth mentioning that the barnacles also effectively castrate the shark it's living on. >>72 From what I've read, shark's just fucked.
