>open coinbase account >add $200 >buy $50 of BTC >BTC won't be available for making purchases for a fucking week How. How does this make sense. If I trade you 10 rocks in exchange for 3 fucking sticks, you don't get to take my damn rocks and tell me I can use MY 3 sticks after a week has passed. GIVE ME MY FUCKING STICKS
>>1349 >coinbase HAHAHAHAHA! You could have came here and asked first.
>>1349 umm sweetie they do. Did you think that was a fair business transaction? You donated your money and they loaned you some internet beans (that they still own)
>>1354 >>1364 This is dumb. So I'm supposed to sit here and wait a whole week, after which, my 3 sticks will only be worth 8 rocks. Oh, can't forget to also pay an extra stick for ((((((((((transaction fees))))))))))! :^)
>>1349 it's to prevent fraud you can't withdraw btc and then do a chargeback or claim the bank account failed
>>1377 But I deposited the cash using paypal, so there shouldn't be any burden on coinbase's side of the transaction. It's shady as fuck because I have no idea what the value of btc will be a week from now. They basically just took my money and gave me an IOU that I have to hope won't devalue in a week. Did I just gamble my money?
>>1382 They'll probably stop doing that after you've used your account enough. I've been on Cuckbase for over a decade and they don't do that shit to me.
>>1349 be happy, depending on how you trade they'll freeze your account with the most unprofessional and absurd KYC process in existence. Basically, they'll send this scammy email with typos saying that your account will be restricted unless you upload proof of wealth and funds, which if you do submit they'll demand further proof, of which if you do submit they'll either demand even more evidence or demand something they've already asked for, all over email. Also they'll take at least 4 weeks per response. I essentially gave up on the account rather than attempt to haggle it back. I'm fairly convinced the pajeets running their compliance email department are essentially running an identity theft service.
>>1419 what is KYC?
yeah regulation ruined this stuff
>>1377 what a shitty excuse. others don't do it
What is a good exchange?
>>1490 bisq, maybe binance and zypto

>>1349 Because ACH transfers take 3-5 business days in everything you do that's not wire transfers (which take 1 day or so). The reason you are pissed off right now is the same reason banks and institutions are excited as fuck about crypto. If your bank uses the equivalent of USDC to move money from your account to Coinbase or PayPal or your grandmother's bank account, then you don't have to worry about funds being held for 3-5 business days while cash moves from bank to bank to bank to go from yours to Coinbase. The fact that more people don't understand this is why I'm going to be fucking rich. This is now a chainlink and xrp thread btw
>>1382 You can still sell your BTC in Coinbase you just can't take your BTC out of Coinbase into a wallet. You can change your BTC into USD and send it back to your bank but you still have to wait like a week before the cash hits it.
>>1483 If you don't know what KYC means, I really would recommend reading and lurking for a little bit before diving head first into crypto or really any investments. Anyways have a wiki link (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Know_your_customer).
>>1367 >transaction fees Future of finance, bro.
>>1574 transaction fees, as they're usually implemented, are a necessity for a cryptocurrency because they serve as a deterrent to DDOS attacks by making it exponentially more expensive to spam the network with transactions. This is particularly relevant for when there is limited space for transaction, like with Bitcoin or Ethereum. Obviously the equivalent doesn't really hold for centralized services like Paypal (they can always just ban hostile actors and have practically unlimited transaction space).
>>1574 pretty much. sell stock? pay fee. buy stock? pay fee? use something like paypal? pay fees. hell.. just own a bank account? pay fees every month instead of being paid good interest.
>>1584 >bank account? pay fees every month I sure as hell don't. Your bank sucks.
>>1530 Was going to post the same A lot of the crypto gatekeeping bullshit is due to how it has to deal with legacy finance We're going to be so fucking rich
damn, this place is dead are there any other active /biz/ boards out there?
