if the transplant works then they plumb it in so you have 3 kidneys and 3 channels to the bladder and they stay in there so it'd be quite possible that if I live to 60 and get lucky I'll have 6 dead kidneys in me at all times
weird medical science tbh
aside from the tube the worst thing is that I still have to eat a special boring diet and now I can't drink more than a small amount of water because eventually the kidneys and bladder just stop making wee
got a bit emotional at times ngl thinking about how I'll never eg chug a tall glass of ice cold water in hot weather again because that'd be the majority of the day's ration

they're too old, there's an age limit on donors too due to organ lifespan
and family that is younger are strangers so I can't really ask it of them (different if someone miraculously decides to but yeah)
I do think about churches occasionally but the chud in me makes me shy away smh. I expect good samaritan anonymous donors do come from that demographic here too.

yeah although the medical journals tease epic science stuff like animal organ compatibility, 3D meat printing, machine kidneys etc every year it's not like the NHS would be able to take advantage of it
I was surprised enough to find the blood scrubbing facilities using modern scifi frutiger aero looking machines that spin and have flashing lights and play music and the majority of the nurses were nice asian lasses

it's like that tbh
feels like being some kind of vulture but worse to have to do such a thing
Despite my problems I often come down on the spartacist side of things where I think that such defects probably shouldn't be corrected smh, hypocritical and a bit selfhating but mostly chudly good-of-the-collective autism
