A thread for tea drinking aficionado master race.

Chamomile and Early Gray is all I've got I did however buy one of these fellers for instant tea. One of the better purchases I made.
I quite like the tartness of pomegranate tea
>>815 What is that thing and how hoes it work?
>>821 It's a water cooler / water heater combo. You can get the tubes version if you got a connection somewhere, or the 5-gallon-goes-in-the-bottom-door version.

>>815 >instant tea That defeats the whole purpose. Goddamn burgers mainstreaming and ruining everything.

Picked up one of these bad boys. Boils water quickly and can hold it all day. Perfect for tea, instant coffee, hot chocolate, you name it. Some models will "flake" plastic down from the top with time, which is a problem, but you can work around it or replace it. Otherwise it works perfectly. IN general I would recommend Zojirushi for appliances like this. Their stuff is high quality, they vacuum seal whatever they can, and the electronics work. Their rice cookers are also excellent. Most commercial rice cookers are Zojirushi, so if you want restaurant style white rice you can't go wrong.
They always say that the temperature of the water makes a difference depending on the tea, but is it noticeable to the average person? Or would I only notice with a side-by-side comparison? I've also taken on the practice of washing my jasmine tea leaves, i.e. pouring the boiling water on the leaves, pouring out that liquid, and then actual steeping. It's supposed to get rid of bitterness, but I feel like it's just ridiculousness on my part. Maybe it works for certain teas, but again, would I actually notice a difference? One day I'll trial through my questions. For now, I'm trying to finish up some blueberry tea I got gifted. >>825 Thank you for the tips, anon. When my kettle goes, I'll be sure to check out Zojirushi.

>>824 >instant tea I completely forgot that was a thing anon. I meant instant as in 'quick' not that powdered abomination.
>>827 You'll notice a great difference with temperature. If you make a good green tea with 70-80C(even 45-50C for very good high grade), it's floral, maybe a bit grassy, umami. Try it with 100C and you get a bitter mess you can barely choke down. Washing is only necessary for tea that comes compressed or tightly rolled, cakes or such.

Pretty much what I've heard when it comes to matcha. I can see it making sense, but I guess I want to prove it to myself. But if you tell me you've noticed this, I can believe it. Thank you! >Washing is only necessary for tea that comes compressed or tightly rolled, cakes or such. I've been to a tea house which washes the leaves from specific types of tea (I believe their Chinese selection). They are loose, however. Doing some research, it seems that old tea can have excess amounts of fluorine, so maybe that is why?
drink tea faggots
>>878 Had a milk Assam tea the other day. Should probably make another one to go with some cookies I'm baking.

im trying to come up with new combos with what i have growing, so far i have ginger, lemon grass, lemon balm, catnip, mint, cranberry hibiscus, etc. i mixed them all together and it kinda tasted shitty
>>1589 I guess the other goffee bros died in the migration. We're tea drinkers now. I've been drinking matcha more lately, but it seems really hard to source the good shit anymore with the shortages.
>>878 i'm drinking moldy hong kong sheng babey
>>1591 >goffee bros died in the migration maybe just hesitant to post on a site where Adult Baby - Diaper Lover is one of the top boards, who knows what the board culture is over here?
>>1595 >who knows what the board culture is over here? I don't, but it's about to involve a lot of cramming.
b-bros? my buddies in tea? is this you? are we once again reunited?
>>1628 hardly, i think there is maybe 3 people on total which you'd have to go back a long time to 4chans /ck/ moving that slow
>>1628 I'm here at least. God help me I've been reading r/puer for a week I can't take any more
do I really need that little whisk thing for making matcha? I saw some guy just use lukewarm water put matcha in a container and shake it up. Is that really it? What’s even the point of the whisk if that’s good enough
No, you don't need a fucking whisk, just because japan is autistic about shit. Every japanese kitchen has a hand mixer which does 100 times better but they still use the whisk for no fucking reason
>>1670 I don't have a proper matcha whisk, but I've tried making it both with a normal whisk and by shaking it up. Neither really got it frothed up the way it's supposed to be.
>>1671 Because it's >fun And maybe it invites meditation or something.

Posting halfchan's FAQ, because some people wanted it. https://rentry.org/teageneral
Tea beginner here, the other day I forgot about my tea and let it infuse for half an hour like in the "grandpa style" described here >>1677 and it gave me the worst stomach cramps in a while for half an hour. Is it because my tea was shit? Regards
My FL order has been stuck in china for over a week with no updates. It’s over. A few days ago I broke out some more of the 2024 cang yuan sample I ordered last spring. The flavor completely changed since last time I tried it. It used to be citrusy and bright, but now it tastes vegetal and medicinal. What gives? Glad /tea/ is back to some small degree. Reddit is abhorrent.
very retarded tea newfag here I saw a guide on making loose leaf tea that said one teaspoon of tea leaves for every cup you want to make So if I want to drink two cups I use two teaspoons of the tea? But can’t I just reuse the loose leaf tea anyways why would that matter? If I wanted two cups I could just put in one tea spoon and reboil water for later? I don’t know what I’m supposed to do here
